Thats a nice list you put together there... it is fun to see what people can create... I tend to tile some of my modulars, but then again, i only see the outside of the modulars for 99,9% of the total time.. so i'm not sure if it is worth it to spend lots of money on the inside... i'd rather buy another modular set then..... It look great, although the GE you showed us in your list that was tiled, wasn't tiled very properly... there were missing a lot of brown 1 x 1 and 1 x 2 tiles..... I feel the need to pimp my modulars, but from tonight on, i can start with the palace cinema XL-MOD, as my second set arrives today....!!! I hope to see some nice things from Redtrooper soon!!!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
LegoSjaak replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
The dutch site tells me about a more than one thing for people to enjoy at this carnival, like a carrousel or something (swirling mixer) The swirling mixer glows in the dark...(ough.. .) It comes with 12 minifigs.... a dizzy man, 2 boys, two girls, a woman selling ticketsThere is a stand where you can buy tickets etc... it actually looks a lot like last years winterset to me.. It can be true that TLG brings out two carrousel sets .. i simply don't believe that, and would not like to believe it... a non-building thing like a carrousel.. it was already hard to buy the 10235 winterset, but okay, it wasn't thát bad.. but again a set like that...noooo...'For the winterset 2014 they are talking about Santa's 10245 house or station where they make presents....there wil be elves, of course Santa and his wife, baking cookies...Total of 6 minifigs.... There will also be a 10242 Mini Cooper MK VII, fitting in the range of the Beetle 10187 and the Volkswagen T1 10220..... But please...give us a building as a modular next year, not a carnival or what so ever.......These sets are supposed to be available in fall....... I'm only repeating what i'm reading on the dutch site..can't tell if it's true...lets pray not... .!!!! -
It is hard to see the scale of it.. it looks great anyway! maybe you could make a picture of it with a Modular building besides it, so we can see the scale.....!

Hi Ajax, it is not so much work.. but i would advise you to build one set complete...and then expand it.. it is more easy to see what bricks are left than.. I added some darkgrey plates... and some other bricks...but that was mostly because i wanted the floors in the same colors as the original.. Building upwards would be cool, but maybe you need to go sideways as well, because else the tall GE would look a bit thin, i think...... Succes anyway and show us your results!!! Bwoah..one extra floor would be cool to...that would make it really big! I just ordered a second Palace Cinema to give it the same shape as the extra wide GE! I will widen my first Palace Cinema with 16 studs on both sides... see how that looks like... i also ordered a few extra 8 x 16 tan plates for the floors and some dark tan and light grey bricks, to be sure that i have enough bricks to build the walls.. now i need an extra 16 x 32 baseplate... i have only one left... see if there are any at bricklink...!! Succes with your GE-XL-MOD, and hope to see some pictures soon!!!
-
well, that will become a busy place then....haha..!!
-
...no, it doesn't look so big..but on the second picture, compared to the relatively small brown PetShop-part......it looks a bit bigger....
-
For those who like to see a high quality video of all modulars in one street....
-
not as one block, but sort of.....
-
Here is my finished XL Grand Emporium, made out of two sets...It is standing besides the XL Town Hall and the XL Parisian Restaurant.... Here i put one half of the Pet Shop in between the XL versions, to see the difference in size...
-
Thats how i like it.. i must admit, in the beginning i thought of collecting extra, boxed sets...just to earn some money on them later.....but i chose to use the money for other things instead... i'd rather live now than have a lot of money later! And boxed sets are Always in danger, in my home, because when i would have a weak moment, i would unbox one.... There are several sets that i bought boxed, played with and later sold them for twice the money i paid for them.. like the Maersk trainsets... i bought 6 or 7 sets and sold the loco's separate as well as the truck and the minifigs... i ended up with 3 loco's and 10 cars with 20 containers.. I decided to put it on sale for an insane amount of money and after a week the whole train was sold for the price i wanted..... apparently some people are crazy enough to pay lots of money...like myself when i bought the Cafe Corner, Market Street and green Grocer in one deal, 2 years ago!
-
Maybe you should put up a club of ex-owners... i think, they will need mental help.....
-
I also came to a point where i simply had to buy all three older ones.. Market Street, Cafe Corner and the Green Grocer......it was a large investment, but now i'm satisfied...haha...! I think a lot of EB-ers will consider you to be a Lucky man having all nine... but it is just where you spent your money on.. my modulars are of greater value than my car.....! Ah Stefano, as you are dutch as well, you should point to the Dutch Market Street as being a modular as well.. look at the way it is constructed...modules.... look at the sidewalk...it was made to fit the other sets... so, i'd rather count 9 modulars at the moment, instead of 9... I think there is no other set that creates so much controverse in whether people like it or not... I see it as just one of the nine modulars.... Maybe that is because i'm from the Netherlands and Market Street is rather Dutch.....! Ah yeah, they count..why not.. standing on a shelf, next to each other, no one will notice whether it is bricklinked or Original....!!
-
Maybe it is fun to make a list of EB-members who own all Modulars including 10190 Market Street...just t see how many people have them all 9...... Well, so i do have all 9 modulars....i even got Pet Shop, Town Hall, Grand Emporium and Parisian Restaurant twice.. to make XL versions of the original....
-
That is probably a better idea!
-
Lets make a list of members that own them all..just for fun..Just Quote this post and add your name! LegoSjaak

Welcome to the VIP club 'OAM' (Owners of All Modulars) I wonder how many people there are who have all of them...

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
LegoSjaak replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Maybe they skip the 2015 modular, because the older ones still sell very well! -
Yeah, that up AND down escalator was also pretty obvious to do, as all the parts needed are available.. When i finished het second floor, i saw that RedBaron also chose the same positions of the escalator....But okay... In som shops they are besides eachother, that would also be nice!... I needed a lot of extra darkgrey plates....which surprised me a bit.. i thought i could do the whole building like this with only the two sets, but that did'nt work out.. It was also hard to finish the tan walls, because of lack of smaller 1 x 1 and 1 x 2 bricks.... But, it worked.. I'm not totally satisfied with the groundfloor.. the outer corners of the building, which fit to another modular building, are positioned one stud off the pavement....maybe i just put a few 1x2 bricks on top of eachother and use them to flatten-out the facade in comparison with its neighbour modular! The darkgrey plates for the roof will probably arrive today so i can finish the whole outer building tonight! The interior will be not too difficult, because i only use the buildings to put them in my layout... Yes, thanx again, Red Baron.. i was curious how it would look like, and as i saw your pictures, i new i had to make an XL version of the Grand Emporium! And now that is almost finished, i'm really happy with it.. It had that Majestic look that it needs to have.. Now i would like to have 'Harrods' above the door, instead of 'Shop' I think it could be done.. This shop needs tiling.....but that would be a rather expensive project.....all floors... tiling.. that is a lot of studs...!!!!!! Hope to see your pictures soon!! Before you tear down the old one.... I split up the old on, to use the walls or facade.... i just made it longer, so i did not have to tear down the whole building.. It is also a way to find out woh much bricks you need and to see if some ideas are possible or not... Making an XL version of this building was harder than i thought... although, maybe it is not as hard as the Parisian Restaurant..... Have fun with your build!

I coudn't stand not following RedBarons example of his XL Grand Emporium, made out of two sets... i started last Friday, and this my progress so far... ordered some dark gray plates via bricklink, wich will be delivered tomorrow!! Then i can finish the roof!
-
Looks really great!!!
-
I Got my second GE last Friday.... will start soon with expanding my already built GE with 16 studs on both sides.. not sure if i put it on a 48x48 baseplate or if i add two 16x32 darkgray baseplates on each side... I rebuilt 4 sets of the 4954 Town House this weekend and sold them for Eur 100,- each.. that is where i will pay my second GE partly with... !! Greetz LegoSjaak
