It's time consuming, but easy. I'll show you how to do it in my "LDD screenshot improvement" thread.- 5,046 replies

[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD

set 5983 Undercover cruiser. With the more complex than normal construction of this set, I was surprised to see how few changes I needed to make. There was a piece for the wings that I had to replicate with other pieces on the cruiser, and there was a CD issue on the small bandit flier wings I had to compensate for, but otherwise it was pretty painless. And once I got the hang of it, transforming it back and forth from one form to the other got pretty easy. (If you're new to LDD, it hates complex alignments.) LXF file- 5,046 replies

LDD Universe questions
Randal replied to legobryne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
If you mean "is it possible to make Star Wars ships following the instructions on the internet in LU mode?" the answer is "most likely." I've actually had more trouble with non star wars sets having missing bricks. If you mean "will LDD add SW decals and stuff on bricks and minifigs?" no. and as for SW minifigure stuff. there's everything but the heads for the TF droids, and along with a storm trooper helm and the snow trooper decal, there is also everything to make R2D2 W/o decals and Princess Leia's hair, so you can make a leia-esque figure. I hope that answers your question. -
A bunch of the latest "Brick" strips have been space themed... and others are Sci-Fi of other various natures. (futuristic undersea, time travel, steam punk, Mechs) Todays features the lunar limo, and tomorrows will likely feature the new undercover cruiser. (though, by the time you read this, for you, my tomorrow will be your today)

I looked for sets that might have the piece on brickset so that I could get a part number from peeron, but I couldn't find one. so I made the image below and then obscenely sharpened it to enhance contrast. I think I over did it with the sharpen tool... oh well. It's not for a comic. I'm also including the LXF so you can look at it in LDD. The parts were made available by activating LDD's Lego Universe mode. Anyone at Eurobricks can get this mode by following the instructions found in the LDD forum. The little red piece that goes on top is off to the side in the lxf because of a glitch in LDD that deletes bricks that are connected that way, even though they are legal connections. I did a steampunk moc wip thread that was moved here instead of to the sci-fi forum. -
[KEY TOPIC] LDD custom bricks

I have 2 or 3 mods to replace the launcher that is used in a lot of SPIII, Batman, Star Wars, and other action sets. if you download my bat tumbler or my hot pursuit LXFs, you'll have two of them. I had to use something different for the Lunar Limo, I can make an lxf of all three modded bits. Though, with the limo, I had to mod more than just the launcher. I had to replace some of the anchors. When I get to it, I'll edit this post (if I remember to) -

I thought entries were going to be the lxf files, not screen captures... Any lxf seen by judges will be in their raw visual state. -
LDD Design Contest Discussion thread
Randal replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I'm going to make a thread which will help peoples LDD MOC's look better than the raw scans, as if you read my comic or look at my official set previews, you can tell I'm not putting up raw captures. I think once people see that you can take a couple steps to make LDD images look better, they'll warm up to it a bit more. -

That official color rule is kicking me in the butt. That would take me forever to constantly check if something I want to do is not in the color I need. I was thinking of entering my little retro Sci-Fi skiff, but I'd want to modify it or redesign it... and I'd have to see if technics came in certain colors... I'm pretty sure those weapons pieces come in metallic colors though... Like silver or gold. -
Thanks. I'm sure someone could come up with something better that I didn't think about, but it does the job and you'll probably see it and some of adho's games in the comic. I need to come up with a gameroom light though. (those green hooded light fixtures that were/are popular in pool halls above pool and poker tables.

when I checked, it looked like all listed 2010 SPIII instructions were available at brickset (which links to pdf's at Lego)
-
I forgot about that one. I had that too and I loved it. LOVED IT.
-
I like those two ships. Especially the Lunar Limo. I just might start putting hood ornaments on my space MOC's. (I gussied it up with exhaust flames and put it in today's Brick)
-
Nice MOC. Though I think it needs more greeble. I'm really taken by the mobster aspect of the SPIII line. In fact, I used the Lunar Limo in today's "Brick". (I just love the idea of a space ship with a hood ornament)

Seeing as I spent my build time last night constructing the Limo for this thread and had nothing for todays Brick... I used the limo. Turned out visually pretty good. The gag feels rushed though.- 5,046 replies

LUNAR LIMO 5984 had to account for missing launcher and for some reason the side panels had to be a stud off, and the Gatling gun wouldn't fit right. also had to modify the wings slightly. LXF File- 5,046 replies

Those are cool. I'm going to be loading some of the more mundane space sets tonight. I built all three for today's Brick, but I only used two of them. The sets I made are and (LXF's to be loaded later)- 5,046 replies

5973 hyperspeed pursuit There were some necessary mods on both. on the SP ship, there were problems with the wings and the cockpit farings, in the back there were clearance issues with the prisoner pod and it's cradle. If you follow the instructions in reverse, you will find the mods. I also changed the color of a couple bricks on the front wings, as the actual bricks had stickers on them and something seemed to be missing otherwise. Also, obviously, the hoses can't be placed, so there is that. (I wish they'd make those flexible) On the gangster ship, the only mods are the launcher replacements and optional launcher replacements. These are the same launcher replacements used in the tumbler, only this time I used the tumblers alternate for the actual build.- 5,046 replies

Bat Tumbler LXF This is one of those sets that needs a launcher, so I made two variants. If someone wants to color this properly, be my guest, but I'm loading a recolor.- 5,046 replies

That is definitely amusing. Though I'd love to see someone make one that uses inkjets.

Either you're not married, haven't told your wife of this plan, or your wife likes Star Wars as much as you. I can tell you my wife likes it about as much as I do, but would never agree to something like this featured in the living room. It would be more of a private den or home office piece of furniture.
