Before the LU mod, I did a version of the greengrocer in LDD and I have to say it was a fun build. The store is neat, the apartment is nice and the fire escape and roof were cool too. I think I used it in no less than four and maybe even five comics. Sadly, the LFX file was on my computer that died.

[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD

promotional set # 1237-1: Honda Asimo Robot LXF file LDD doesn't have the brick used as his backpack, so I rigged a substitute, which is shown off to the side. If it is not exact, forgive the error as I had to build this from sight. there are no instructions listed at Brickset. replaced brick:- 5,046 replies

the only one of those I haven't seen is the jellyfish. I used the starfish in the background of today's Brick.

Today's Brick: #057 Gone fishing in Caribbeanworld. I read that they're remaking Westworld and that Russel Crowe is to star... But only after I was looking up how to spell Yul Brynner for this comic.

Retro will probably always be a hit. It has a lot of fans. edit: I wonder if this is why I'm doing all my current mocs in Burgundy and Gold... Though this is red, not burgundy.

I wish LDD had those old canopies (especially the underside ones) and space baseplates with the craters and stuff.

Interesting take on a Star Wars speeder bike. I can recognize elements of the movie design, but modified the way you would see a racing bike look recognizable but different from a stock model.

Well, as I mentioned, it's not based around anything. I was just noodling around with technic pieces and what look like mainly Bionicle accessories (though I'm certain the wings are from Lego Batman.) Once I couldn't get anything else on there without making it look worse, I stopped and looked at what I had. At that point I thought. "Looks sort of Flash Gordon-y"... so I figured with the outfit he could actually be Flash, but escaping from Ming by dressing up as one of his guards. I guess with the color scheme, you could say the 80's Flash, but even 80's Flash didn't have this much greeble. Basically, I thought to myself, I can sit here and apply what other people have done, or I can noodle around and maybe stumble upon something of my own. I can tell you I will be using those spine looking things to surround other propulsion systems in the future. it looks cool that way and it also looked cool when I had them reversed.

well, if there are space restrictions from base to top I don't think it would fit, or if something is supposed to go on the cross stud used as the trigger. I wasn't able to account for that, but I'm sure other pieces can be fit in between the two thin brackets that could help shoe it in a tighter build with more demands on the launcher. I'm pretty sure it will work with all the Lego Batman sets and possibly all Space sets that use launchers.- 5,046 replies

I was goofing around with technic pieces and accessories and somehow it evolved into this. I'm too tired to put up the extra screenshots I took, so I'm just going to post the comic I used it in. It came out looking very Flash Gordony... so that's how I approached the comic. I'll process the other pics and put them up here later. The parts I'm most satisfied with are the exhaust set-up and the general side profile shown in the inset panel.

Steampunk Airship WIP

heck, I don't mind. I based mine on some steam greeb I saw on another set of stacks. I don't know if this is how he did it, but since it reminds me of old steam paddle ships on the mississippi, I don't care if I did what he did because I like what I did. As for the bumping. I keep forgetting that unlike myself, most Lego enthusiasts are more engineer than artist and are a bit more reserved and particular. Sorry. Currently, I'm working on something I don't even know how to categorize. The closest I can come to it is Flash Gordon on steroids. It's basic design has been "whatever I can add to this thing that looks cool. The color scheme is burgundy and gold. (something I seem to be leaning toward this week in about everything I do) It will be in the next Brick update, as I've spent so much time on it that I have nothing else to use for a comic. =B Edit: I posted the build I mentioned above in the Sci Fi forum with a "Flash Gordon" title. I probably shouldn't have, though. I think people must think it looks hokier than it does. I actually think it looks quite charming in a retro sort of way. -
I added to my steampunk airship, you can see updated pics here

This is great. I'd love to see an .LXF of this so I could really turn it around and zoom in up close. A camera can only do so much. (I know that usually LDD doesn't look as good as physical bricks... especially before I modify them in photoshop, but I love looking these things over and exploring them like a fly on the wall.)

Is the pirate theme going on hiatus because of the rumored "Pirates of the Caribean" sets that are supposedly coming out next year with the fourth movie?

That's because all you see is raw png snapshots of wireframe skins. I take those and dress them up in a photo editor and they end up looking like the minifig in my sig.

For those of you who are making sets that include the launcher, I placed an example of the mod I use to replace the launcher (which LDD LU does not have) in the "tips tricks and bugs" thread.- 5,046 replies

[KEY TOPIC] LDD 3 bugs and brick errors
Randal replied to Zerobricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
How often does this happen to you? you're working off a pdf, building an official set in LDD and you can't move any further because even LU mode doesn't even have this brick. (or another color like it) It has happened to me more than a few times. So I came up with the following mod to make up for it, which fits as a replacement in most instances, having a general similar outline (if you count it being loaded with the missile) and it has just about the same anchor points. I hope this helps those of you stuck with an LDD build that you can't finish without the launcher. I included two versions. I personally prefer the version with the blunt end of the brick that is supported by the two frame struts facing forward. -

my guess is load time vs. fire rate. A bowman need only nock his arrow and draw his string, aim and fire. He doesn't even need to take his eye off his target. A crossbowman needs to cock his bow (sometimes using a tool or crank, but generally bracing the device with his leg/foot to pull back the string), nock his bolt, reaquire his target, aim and then shoot. Practically the same difference between muzzle loaded vs. breach loaded rifles. Another factor is that anyone can whittle down a yew branch to make a good bow, but crossbows require parts made by a metal smith. Heh, get caught with sharp arrows instead of blunt though and the penalties were stiff. Surely you would be accused of poaching the king's game or possibly accused of being a highwayman. Peasants were only allowed sharp arrows durring battle in service of the crown. (or so sayeth the history channel.)

[KEY TOPIC] LDD 3 bugs and brick errors

The strange part is that while some connections are perfectly legal IRL but not in LDD, others in LDD would never work IRL. I will edit this post later with examples. Edit: as promised... If you'll notice in the first pic that the treads don't colide with each other in the fix after the middle wheel is rotated, but they do cause the wheel to not touch the build floor because the shape of the wheel is actually a mostly invisible box and the 'floor' detects the corner of the 'no longer flush' box instead of the visible polys... so the fix kind of sucks too. -
I'm just following precedent. Observe KDog's thread in "Brick flicks & comics". If that's allowed there and not here, I'll just post my comic page announcements over there. (I suppose I could ask you to sticky a "Brick" thread here, but I'm new so I'll not be so forward. I'll just do what I mentioned above.)

I finally broke down and made something I should have done long ago. I made a news desk for Brick. There is so much you can do with two talking heads behind a news desk. In fact, todays comic is an example of one such instance.

what it really is is that people will generally slow down more if they think it's the cops, so if everybody has the same color lights as the cops, you'll slow down just in case. That's not just New York. When I was driving a truck across the whole country, I saw that everywhere.

LDD Design Challenge #4
Randal replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
That's how I feel about Brick. I comment on so many people's comics at my hosting site to get people to come back and read mine. Somebody's reading it, but only the usual suspects comment (and sometimes not even them). I even have a place here for you guys to comment, but almost nobody does. As for me doing the challenges... With my computer down, my limited LDD time on this computer every day these days needs to be focused on making the comic. So I just don't get time to do things like these challenges... or work on my airship MOC.
