    Has anyone discussed the fact the the Sian is a mid-engine hybrid, with the electric motor, powered by a supercapacitor instead of batteries, integrated into the 7 speed semi-automatic transmission. I wonder if the LEGO version will even have a mid-engine or 7 gears? Supposedly the appeal of the UCS series is the ability to actually see the engine, which perhaps would be visible through the rear window??? The car will have a mechanical self-locking rear differential, will be great to finally get an official locking diff from LEGO.

    LIke the looks, will be a nice way to get into PF+, but this set has to have the highest sticker-to-parts ratio of all recent Technic sets. And with all of the stickers, a B-model is a non-starter.

    Did you check the batteries in your PF battery box?

    Could be something as simple as differentials installed backwards. But first, test all motors, battery boxes, IR receivers, remotes, etc. individually or as suggested above, on a simple vehicle. Also, there is a difference between type R1 and R2 IR receiver, that is not compatible with some motors, do a search to learn more.

    TLG does not want its brand attached to third-party suppliers or other commercial activities such as on-demand pay-per-part 3D printing. I believe it is OK to offer "brick-compatible" or similar clones or 3D printed parts, but not okay to claim you are printing a branded part. Others may have a more legalistic explanation. TLG is not going after 3D printing, its going after misuse of their brand.

    Well done, and in terms of controls and functions, very clever. You are just missing the "Liebherr" stickers in 1 point font!

    Excellent shots, especially like the subtle use of multicolor background lighting which adds interest and colored reflections to what is a mostly black colored primary subject. Very nice use of shadows and highlights which bring out the details of the hotrod. One minor quibble is that in the first image, to the lower left of the air intakes especially is some blocking-up of the shadows, which would be OK if it wasn't at a prominent position in the image.

    Sariel - your my hero Seriously, did you ever imagine that a hobby would turn into quite an adventure? Congratulations! One question, was there a 'kill switch' in case the machine started to run amok or the operator decided to have a bit too much fun?

    I'm guessing a fully pneumatic version would be challenging, especially as single LA's will need to be replaced by 2-3 pneumatics each, in order to get the same extension. Having all that extra space may provide sufficient room for PF motors, receivers, BB's. etc. and for the necessary pneumatic pumps. Not a project I'd be willing to undertake, though.

    Again, fantastic review Sariel - greatly appreciated and can't wait for October's 'event'! I am guessing this is the Technic set with the most greabling and non-functional parts, which greatly adds to the parts count, which is a big negative for me. And finally, use of blue pins (which normally adds to color vomit) is actually welcome here, as the blue and other colors help to break up the white/grey overall monotony. Another disappointment is the inability to modify the control+ software, which seriously diminishes the value to the set as a parts pack. Not a day one purchase, and despite the misgivings, will eventually will be a must have.

    Since a new Avatar, the Last Airbender, will have new shows coming to Netflix maybe next year and presumably will significantly renew interest in the series, is the license available - I can't check?

    If some additional features can be added, such as servo control and the ability to use a game controller, I'd would certainly pay for just the app

    Nice video kblage, but I am thinking that one reason shifting up results in the engine pistons running faster is a matter of perception and the fact the model is mechanical. We will push the car at more/less constant speed, regardless of gear shift position. This is totally different from a real car, when in first gear the real vehicle the car is moving slow, as you shift up from 1st to 5th, the car is moving faster and the engine RPM is either the same or lowered. But - in the LEGO model, the car is being pushed by hand at a steady rate, so we need to see something else change - low gear, slow engine, high gear, fast engine. From a mechanical standpoint, the LEGO model is wrong, but from a perception standpoint, the model gives an entirely satisfactory experience - push it in low gear, see something moving slow, push in it in high gear, see something moving fast. If we want to motorize the model, then the gearing would need to be modified.

    Something simple, and I haven't had a detailed look at the parts list, how easy will it be to change the color? Edit: except for the fenders, of course.

    I almost prefer the no body shell version, as all of the internal mechanisms are visible. The blue pins on the mudguards, are they pin-2L w/axle, or pin-3L? Either way, going to replace them with the black equivalent. Probably replace all of the exposed blue pins with black or MSG equivalents.

    With regards to the color, I am seeing any number of on-the-road vehicles with similar colors, especially Jeeps and similar, so perhaps the olive-green can be used in corresponding MOCS or we will get more sets with the same color.

    I came across a German website, grooves.land, that has Technic at prices better than US stores, with free shipping across the pond. Does any one know if this is a reliable site. They are offering 42110 for $167.82 with free shipping. May actually be a bargain, since ToysRUs went away, I'm living in a Technic wasteland.

    What, no key punch machines??? Looks great, are the floor panels removable as they were back in the day?

    I'm really digging the creative marketing that went into the set's description, on the LEGO product page: "...truck comes with high-rise independent suspension, large wheels with chunky tires and a fresh color scheme with intricate sticker detailing" In other words, "we mess up your use of these parts in your MOCs with not only a new technic color scheme, but you can't use the parts anyway because they have stickers all over them" I'll end up buying the set anyway.

    Definitely more model team than pure Technic - and look at all of those cheese slopes, going to be a PITA to get them all aligned nicely.
