To save space, you can mix dissimilar parts - I put blue 2L axle/pin connectors, easy to spot, in with mixed grey and black axle 3L, and black pin w/friction in with red 3L pin w/bush, etc.. -
Back in the day, the TV show 'Miami Vice' stuck a passenger side rearview mirror on a near-stock Corvette (which had only one outside mirror at the time), and a few other cosmetic changes, to make the car look like a Ferrari. That said, there seems to be an American swing to Technic this year, given we have a Mack truck, so a Corvette would not be unreasonable.

Nope, G29. Good enough for our purposes! -

We got the Logitech steering wheel and pedals in our house, and no Lego. Merry Christmas all! -

Thanks for the extra pictures Efferman. Does anyone know what "MP 8" on the engine block refers too? I am thinking its obvious but I am somewhat dense sometimes. Also, I am not liking the assemtrity of the three slope bricks just below the dog. Shouldn't it be 2-1-2, rather than 2-2-1? -
Very nice build, will be waiting to see the video! A look inside that gearbox would be nice also. I especially like using the buckets for counterweight holders, gives an authentic fell to the build.

Yes, but I can still control the EV3 brick with my smartphone, which my son doesn't have (so far the bricks appear to be intact and undamaged from rampant curiosity). -

- Since I found one of my EV3 remote controllers in pieces under my son's bed (at least I think its that, and only one, hard to tell) there is no more new LEGO in our house until everything is organized and reassembled. - White Christmas - snow has melted, we are looking at a wet rainy Christmas! - No more LEGO, see above. And I have 42025 and 42009 still in boxes and not going to be opened any time soon as a consequence. - Still managed to find enough parts to have a LEGO train around the tree, but its not exactly holiday themed due to missing bricks - Favorite color - black! -

The RC conversion worked so easy, I am thinking the model was designed for it - then it is surprising that this isn't an official mod with instructions, etc. as per prior RC-optional models. -

Nice video and presentation - clearly room for modification and converting to PF, which is a great appeal, in addition to being a nice display model. Why does there seem to be a steering wheel under the roof of the cabin, at 18:47 into the video? -
Since the IDEAS submission is for a small set, I am really hoping that they will add a second lightcycle or maybe a lightspeeder

Nah, Blues Brothers is a 1970's SNL skit and a 1980 Movie - neither were targeted at kids. Only old farts like me remember them with any fondness. Plus, Belushi passed away how long ago? Not really relevant to today's LEGO target audience or even most AFOLs.

Off topic, but having Disney approving use of TRON licence might suggest that TRON-3 might actually get out of production-hell and finally get green-lighted?

Its TRON!!!! Nothing else See https://ideas.lego.com/blogs/a4ae09b6-0d4c-4307-9da8-3ee9f3d368d6/post/f93d358e-bd2e-4295-8ad9-d308db7e3b0b I thought the airplane would win, interesting that the surf rescue didn't win, but will lead to something else??? And curiously, no video this time

I misspoke, 40 foot is typical in these parts - sorry for the confusion. -

That was strictly a qualitative observation, probably need to do some research into this. In retrospect, I've seen various length shipping containers, perhaps from less than 40 to at least 72 feet. However, have not seen a trailer mounted crane for off loading in the US. -
I've thrown parts into boiling water, then retrieved them - you have a few seconds to bend the part into the desired shape before the plastic cools. Take obvious safety precautions!

NIce images, but are these kids in some sort of 1950's cold-war electronics lab? -

With regards to tire size - tires on US Trucks typically appear smaller than they should otherwise be, with the two front tires a bit smaller diameter and narrower. The choice of 49.5 tires, in my opinion, is just right for the two rear axles of the sleeper cab and also for the trailer. The front axle tire size should be something like 40 or so, but would have required a new mold. Likewise, the two rear cab axles and the trailer axles should have dual tires, but again would have required a new mold for narrower 49.5 tires. The trailer - I have not seen a US truck trailer like this - usually US trucks carry 72' to 80' long shipping crates - cranes are located at shipping and receiving points. I guess TLG decided on this type of trailer to add some play features to the A-model and to provide parts for the B-model. Provides plenty of opportunity to mod for a more realistic US highway 18 wheeler. -
Technic 2018 Set Discussion
JGW3000 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I showed the 1H2018 images to my normally reliable 10 year old son (as he is the target audience for these sets), but for him, the entire line was "meh" - he is now only interested in airplanes. Do I have mixed feelings - NO! I won't have to worry about him messing with my Mack truck now -

And its very large - using Google translate: "The Mack Anthem truck plus trailer with extended boom and landing legs is approx. 27 cm high, 83 cm long and 18 cm wide, and approx. 22 cm high and 15 cm wide with retracted crane arm and landing legs." 83 cm long clearly fits with the part count of 2595 pieces. -
I once owned a Craftsman-style desk just like the one you built; all in all very nicely done!
