Wow, nice! Welcome to Eurobricks! -
Snipped for side-by-side comparison purposes.... I like 'em both - I think you should keep the arms and legs from option 2 but put the hair and helmet from option 1 back on!

Agreed. This quest is still moving along quickly! Matthias picks up a large canine tooth blown out of its owner's face by his cannon. In his gnomish hands the fang looks like a long dagger. He tucks it into his belt and turns to Purpearl, accepting his share of the coins from Evel's purse. "She says she's impressed, and you're a valiant pair, so she wants you to have the venom," the ranger translates. Translating again, Matthias winks and whispers to Morrison (loud enough that Purpearl can just hear), "Lady Purpearl means we'd really like if if you two came along and helped us!"

Welcome to Heroica, samauriturtle! Comrade Commander, I'm guessing this is the kind of thing that Kintobor is looking for: Nice one, Actaeon!
-
Hahahaha thanks! Matthias watches approvingly as Ruffers dispatches two wolves with clean thrusts. "Excellent work, Master Russel," he calls out as he blows away the last wolf and puts a pair of shots into Evel. I don't think the wolves carry gold, though, so Russel might not have stolen 25.... "So maybe these medals are good for something," Matthias mutters. Turning to the Watchman, he explains, "Long story short, the man who was just kidnapped hired us to protect him for the next seven days. Did either of you get a good look at the ruffians who grabbed him? We could probably use all the help we can get finding them - especially friends who know the area. It might be the mead talking, but I'm pretty sure I saw one fly out the window."
-
Matthias is encouraged, plus he has power=16, not 15, so... With the cannon's damage, it looks like this: >Matthias - Extraordinaire vs. Direwolf D - Shield (Triple Shot, 15 32 damage Direwolf D KO'd, 30 96 Damage Evel) Either way, the Direwolf D never gets hit with AoE damage because the first shot kills him, meaning no Direwolf E, meaning end of battle.
-
I figured it would get wiped pretty quick but I didn't want everyone to miss out on the awesome.... Welcome to Heroica, Actaeon!
-
Off topic, but my goodness where did this come from? (Note: Oversizing, red color, and COMIC SANS removed with extreme prejudice... view original at your own risk.) OH I'M SO EXCITED 2 JOIN HEROICA HEROZ AN FIGHT GBLINZ! CAN I BE LIKE A HIGH POSITION OR SOMETHING?
-
Welcome to Eurobricks! SHUN THE NON-BELIEVER!!!

You can assume Matthias will always fight from the back row unless there's something preventing him. As a ranger there just isn't any reason. I'll try to be sure and say it for the future . Matthias - Extraordinaire vs. Direwolf D (back row) Thanks for lookin' out!

Excellent. Builds like this are such an inspiration - and such despair when I look at my meager hoard of pieces hahahaha. Really nice work. +1 DoH for Waves [Hydrology] and Lighted Builds [General Building]

Matthias receives a deep scratch but shakes off the pain as Bart's medallion knits the skin closed. The gnome laughs grimly as Russel downs a wolf and grits his teeth as another wolf comes out of nowhere. "Nice work with that one, Master Crab!" he calls out, as he fires his cannon at Direwolf D. Might Alexis do more damage to Evel with the Death's Whip than her Cat-O'-Nine-Tails? While the CONT is higher WP, damage gets divided between all enemies. In the end it probably doesn't matter too much, but it's a thought.
-
I do, but Matthias is level 10... it's gonna be a while and a lot of things can change. I originally was thinking warden but I'm pretty set on druid for advanced class now, for example. I really like the fact that there are still "unexplored" options available for play styles and character classes. Just for reference, if 1 EXP is the amount you need to go from level 1 to level 2, it takes: 9 EXP to reach level 10 19 EXP to reach level 15 (Advanced Classes) 29 EXP to reach level 20 59 EXP to reach level 30 (Expert Classes) 99 EXP to reach level 40 (Veteran Classes) 149 EXP to reach level 50 (Master Classes)
-
Somehow that's not all that comforting hahahaha.
-
Right, but that only says it increases the WP, not that it also adds effects or damages extra targets.
-
Zepher, can we get a ruling on whether XX's bombs will hurt the party if he attacks as Cannoneer and rolls Shield (Barrage) or Bombards and rolls Critical Hit or Hit? According to the Cannoneer rules, only the elements associated with the bombs affect the outcome of a Barrage/Bombard roll - no other effects of the bombs are mentioned - but we don't want to all die .
-
I don't think so... if he uses the dagger, he fights as an Alchemist, giving him only 1/3 chance to even do damage. With the cannon he's doing lower damage but has 1/2 chance to hit. Even if he uses Bombard, the only effect the bombs have is to add elemental damage to his attacks - his attacks shouldn't hurt the party no matter what if he doesn't actually throw the bomb, as far as I can tell. Thanks for the tips! I'm trying to learn so that if I get put in a party leader position eventually I won't be a complete idiot. FYI @Purpearljellyblob I'm really not trying to step on your toes or anything... just trying to learn. Suggested Battle Order: Purpearl casts Blinded against Evel Alexis attacks Evel XX (Cannoneer) attacks Evel Russel attacks Direwolf A Russel attacks Direwolf B Matthias attacks Direwolf C Nerwen heals anyone hurt so far or attacks Evel
-
Nope, he'll still only take damage from his actual target.
-
Concur. However, fire isn't needed except against Evel, since the Direwolves are already one-hit-kill targets for everyone in the party (assuming Purpearl switches to the Magic Staff). I can offer anyone my Sword of the Red Lizard if they want to use it... but leaving a Direwolf untargetted just means that you're sending more low level heroes to die against Evel (since he can one-hit Matthias, Purpearl, and Ruffers+Pigley). Does casting scrolls give you a chance to be hit by Damage/Special Damage? That's why I didn't put Fragile vs. Evel for Purpearl - as noted above she can't survive a hit from him. If scroll-casting is safe, Purpearl should go second in the battle order. I think it does, which is one reason I put Matthias last in the order - keeps us from having more Direwolves pop up.
-
Ok now, CMP and Endgame, did you guys plan this? Who stole who's idea? Oh, bravo! Are you planning for Darksten to become a Minstrel?
-
As the smoke clears, the gnome sets his tankard down on the bar. "Master Russel, the Lady sends her thanks. Would you mind terribly attacking Direwolves A and B between you and Sir Pigley? I'll handle the last one." Without hesitation, he fires the Extraordinaire at Direwolf C from the back row. Suggested Battle Order: See new post. Nerwen attacks Evel Alexis attacks Evel XX (Dangerous Dagger) attacks Evel Russel attacks Direwolf A Russel attacks Direwolf B Purpearl (Magical Staff) attacks Direwolf A (or B if A is dead) Matthias attacks Direwolf C Nerwen can heal next round if needed; Matthias should be last so that if some of the direwolves die the full effect of the cannon will accrue against Evel.

Also, am I the only one who's having trouble with Kinto and Sandy's avatars? I read a post and think Sandy wrote it because I have pink in my peripheral vision but then Karie is staring at me in the signature....

"That's understandable," Matthias says to Crowley, eyeing 'XX' and wondering if he can trust a man for hire who doesn't even have a real name. The ranger gives Berthadhiell a little wave. "Lady Purpearl, the gallant crab Master Russel says this is for you," he translates, indicating the goblet being poured, "and he doesn't buy for just anyone." Mostly satisfied that the inn and its occupants are no threat, Matthias begins to pick at his cannon, rubbing dirt off with his fingers and the sleeve of his jerkin.

And blessed with such humility as well!
