Matthias wonders briefly what it would have been like to be the only man (gnome) on a quest with three... well, with two Ladies and one lady of negotiable affection. A tiny flush of embarrassment rises up the back of his neck but the mead quells what little social awkwardness the gnome might have felt.

Hooray! Although we can't award Kintobor points for fulfilling CMP's thought since she was two hours early.... CC, don't worry... you're not scaring people off, you're actually making me want to send Matthias on a quest with Darksten.

Well booo. I guess I'll just have to hold on to my Sword of the Red Lizard from Baltarok. Anyone planning "certain Rito quests" any time soon? Although I do have plenty of time since Matthias still needs 50 experience to get to the Expert Classes....

I agree. Winged Warrior is at the top of my list, but with my sweet cannon I just don't know... I still think a Winged Warrior should be able to use the cannon based on their rules. Would that mean that a Winged Warrior is able to use a hand cannon? I have visions of flying gnomes dancing in my head. If they could it would specifically listed there. As it is, no. It says they use ranged weapons and then gives a list of examples, but it isn't written to indicate that those are the only possibilities.

Matthias smiles at the Watchman's description of Thistlethorp. "Well, congratulations on your recent induction to the Watch. I suppose this must be your day off - or are you drinking on duty this early in the day?" the gnome jokes with a laugh. Turning towards Crowley, his curiosity peaked by meeting a member of an organization he's never heard of - so new to Freeport! - Matthias asks, "Pleased to meet you, Morrison, Crowley. I've heard twice now that many in the service of the city have a low opinion of Heroica. What are your thoughts?"

Palathadric, you could at least have had the good sense to blush (like all those before you ).

Matthias isn't surprised to see that Everyman has gone; the thief with the big personality was probably off to tend another string in the web he'd seemingly strung throughout Freeport and beyond. As the bartender answers his request for cider in the negative, the ranger wonders if he should simply use the common pronunciation and try again, but thankfully the barkeep shows them all a menu and he's saved from further confusion. "I'll have a mead," the gnome says, pushing the barkeep 20 coins from his pouch. Noting that Calmcacil has the main door more than secure and Alexis has engaged the ...bird-man (Matthias is never sure how to tell some of the more interesting species apart), the short hero turns back to the watchman and his companion, still suspicious of the latter's garb, and does his best to strike up conversation with the Watchman. "'ello, I'm Matthias. You wouldn't know a Private Thistlethorp, would you?"

Matthias should also have Alexis' quickdraw quiver. Not that it matters, since we're being forced into wearing an extra (useless) artefact....

Matthias, wondering if he's seeing things, stalks up to the bar with his big cannon and positions himself in between the Watchman and the ...being... in the white headscarf. "Do you have any seidr?" he queries the bartender, doing his best to observe everything about the bartender and especially the other two patrons. Wanting an opportunity to see the entire bar, he turns and calls to Ruffers and Pigley, carefully noting the layout of the room and all the exits. "Would you two care for anything?"

How very convenient!

Well, Matthias doesn't need to read up on the other quests, but I am certainly enjoying them! Doggone it, Legonater, you beat me to it! I also vote Hitchhiker!

"I'm a gnome, actually," Matthias winks to the crab. "We're not typically familiar with steeds, so my apologies," he adds to Sir Pigley. "I don't know Atramor," Matthias notes, feeling once again very new to Heroica despite his experiences in Baltarok, "but I'm willing to accept your recommendation of Master Everyman's friends for now, I suppose." Everyone seems to know everyone, he thinks to himself. And I suppose all normal artefact (level) restrictions apply? Against his better judgement, Matthias takes his cue from the Ladies and accepts the medal, struggling to get the ribbon around his neck without dislodging his Dapper Hat.

"You've read my mind," Matthias says. "At least I hear that Charis has excellent wine, if we're to spend a week...." Turning to the crab with the sword and his pig, Matthias makes a series of noises mostly unintelligible to Alexis and Purpearl. "Master Russel and Sir Pigley, I'm called Matthias. I apologize for not introducing myself sooner. To which of you should I speak - or to both? As you can tell, I have no need of a cowl as does Lady Nerwen. Tell me, what do you think of our situation? Do you know the man 'XX' and accept him as a member of our party? How does our task of protecting Mr. Aventine from the demon and other dangers seem to you?"

I had skimmed ...ish the Dastan quests before but that's a lot a material so I missed XX. I'm about halfway through 30 now and really regretting that I didn't stumble onto EB and Heroica early enough to have been a part of all that. I'm picking up on a lot of rules that have changed, too.... I'll read Quest 53 after I finish 30.
