Future Marvel Superheroes Rumors & Speculation
wesker replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
So? They don't need to change the face prints just for the sake of it. Many characters like Doctor Strange, Star-Lord, Thor, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man etc. are fine the way they are. Plus I like having some consistency for characters that appear in multiple costumes. I'd hate if the Star Wars line kept giving Luke, Han and Leia a drastic new face print every time they changed their wardrobe. Winter Soldier, War Machine and Hawkeye are the only characters I think really need an upgrade from their Civil War face prints. A casual version of the 2017 Nebula would be welcome too, but beyond that I'm happy for the other characters to just stick with having new costumes. -
Even so I don't mind having the extra Jawas. They're pretty useful for not only displaying with the Sandcrawler but also Jabba's Palace, Mos Eisley, the Sailbarge and Mos Espa Podrace. Tusken Raiders on the other hand are a bit more limited in use.
-
That's definitely a big part of the problem. I hate seeing the same generic troops in Advent Calendars, Micro Fighters and Planet Sets if they're already commonly available elsewhere, especially in Battlepacks. What draws me most to these kind of sets are the novelty Santa characters, rare minifigures (Bespin Guard, Ewok Warrior), long overdue updates (Young Boba, Lobot) or brand new characters (U-3PO, Snap Wexley, Theron Nett) In defense of the Resistance Officer though - this particular figure is brand new and based on an actual named character from the movies (Major Brance) rather than just a nameless officer which is the only thing that appeals to me with this year's calendar.

The interior of the Star Destroyer looks fantastic up close. It makes the Imperial version look so barren by comparison. I especially love the control area in the back which is very reminiscent of ESB. The bridge looks much more detailed as well and I love the little touches like the conference table, blast doors and stairs leading to the bridge.

LEGO Star Wars 2018 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!

Save Bespin Luke for Cloud City. There's no point in doing a Dagobah themed set if you're not going to include Dagobah Luke. -
Future Marvel Superheroes Rumors & Speculation
wesker replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
I wouldn't rule it out. Green Arrow was released to the public in the same costume as the SDCC version, even if though the two minifigures were different from each other. They could do the same for other characters. Phoenix is still my most wanted character out of the SDCC minifigures. New face print, dual molded legs, DCEU Wonder Woman's hair instead of Elsa's and the costume updated with gold/light green colors instead of yellow/regular green should be enough to get around the exclusivity issue. -
The torso from the Crystal Skull version of Marion would be perfect for Tian.
-
I think the roster is pretty good for the most part. The new versions of Rey, Finn, Kylo and Poe all look great as do the new characters like Rose and BB-9E. We also get Snoke, Paige and Holdo who are characters I never expected to appear so early in the first release of sets. The wave also manages to fill out a few missing gaps from the Force Awakens like the Special Forces TIE Pilot and Poe in his flight suit during the D'Qar scenes. The number of repeats are a little underwhelming though. Its hard to be excited for anymore First Order Stormtroopers, Flametroopers and Technicians given how easily they've been available in the battlepacks - one which was released quite recently. The lack of Luke and Leia is also disappointing. I'm sure they'll come eventually, but given that both characters have two different looks in the movie it would've been nice to get one version now and the other in a later wave.

It came with an X-Wing all the way back in 2004. I don't see the issue with the price tag of the new set - its not like the previous hut was any bigger to sets like the Carbon Freeze Chamber or Naboo Duel. I don't mind if one of the minifigures was either Kit or Plo, but I'm kind of hoping we get at least one more minifigure besides Ki Adi Mundi that's either updated from the Clone Wars style printing or a new Jedi that has never been released before.
-
Ki Adi Mundi is great news! Glad to hear Lego is continuing to update the Clone Wars Jedi with regular prints. Another Coleman Trebor isn't as exciting though. Aside from dual molded boots there's not really anything more they can do to improve him, and there are more important Jedi who either still need updating (Shaak Ti, Eeth Koth, Even Piell) or haven't been released yet (Adi Gallia, Depa Billaba). Still its surprisingly been a while since we last had Geonosis themed sets. 2013's range still feels like yesterday. More Jawas and Tuskens are always welcome. Glad to see they're becoming more frequently available. General Grievous - it seems a bit too soon for another Wheel Bike and unlikely to be the Invisible Hand due to the price point, so I'm guessing its either Grievous' Starfighter or Obi-Wan's blue Interceptor. Happy to revisit Utapau again but they really need to complete the cast this time with Commander Cody and Tion Meddon. Another Mace Windu is also good news. Hopefully this time with a less generic face, back printing and dual molded legs to represent the boots.

Future Marvel Superheroes Rumors & Speculation

The X-Mansion is definitely at the top of my most wanted list, especially if the appearance is based off the one in the 90s cartoon. Something similar in design to the LBM Arkham Asylum would be ideal, with the interior rooms in the back of the set modeled after the subbasement. One thing that would absolutely be a must - a couple of brick built Sentinels included done in the same style as Ares and Giant Man. My ideal minifigures would be: - 90s cartoon team (Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Jean, Beast, Rogue, Gambit, Jubilee and Xavier) - A couple of other notable X-Men not regulars in the cartoon (Iceman, Nightcrawler, Colossus etc) - Magneto, Sabretooth and Mystique filling in as the villains Its unlikely to ever happen anytime soon unfortunately, but I do hope we at least get one set next year to tie in with Dark Phoenix given that Marvel seems to be laying off their X-Men ban. A D2C Avengers Tower done at the scale of the Tower of Orthanc would be pretty awesome too. Wouldn't surprise me if something like that did happen to tie in with the next two Avengers movies. -
I'd be up for another AAT. Ideally something bigger than the last release, but not quite as large as the Clone Wars version. I'd rather it didn't come with any clones though. For me the Naboo themed Episode I characters that haven't been made yet are the priority - namely Battle Padme, Boss Nass and Rune Haako, although a TPM Nute Gunray and a Naboo Palace Guard (red uniformed guard with the silver helmet) would be highly desirable too.

Rose looks pretty good up close. Interesting new hairpiece she has. The new Kylo Ren also looks amazing. The extra detail on his new costume makes him stand out a lot more than his previous figure did. Hopefully pics of Luke will show up soon. While it would be nice seeing other characters like Rey and Poe up close, we've at least got an idea how they look from the leaked pics. I'm more interested in seeing the rest of the minifigures that haven't been revealed in the three remaining sets yet. Would be nice to also get confirmation on whether Leia will actually be appearing in this wave or not. The Resistance soldiers are definitely my least anticipated minifigures. The Force Awakens already gave more than enough considering how useless they were in the movie and their costumes aren't anywhere near as interesting as the ones in the Rebel Alliance. I'm glad we're getting more of the Resistance support cast though. The wave is off to a good start with Rose, Paige, Holdo and Brance. Hopefully we see more named characters in the near future.

Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!

Does anyone know which store is getting the Wonder Woman set? The Spider-Man Homecoming and Thor Ragnarok set have hit most Australian retailers now, but there's still no sign of the Wonder Woman set. -
I'm pleasantly surprised by some of the minifigures we're getting this wave. I wasn't expecting to see Admiral Holdo or Supreme Leader Snoke released so soon, or even a minifigure of Poe Dameron in his flightsuit without the extra gear. I'm kind of glad Snoke is moving away from the black robes and wearing gold instead. It makes him look a lot more visually distinctive rather than just an Emperor knockoff. The sets themselves look pretty interesting so far. The Star Destroyer looks awesome and hopefully will come with a decent sized interior. The new walker isn't as good as the original AT-AT but its impossible to top such an iconic design. Still I like the look of the new version. The Bomber reminds me a lot of the Resistance Troop Transport. Will be interesting to see if the wings are movable otherwise it might be a bit awkward to display. Can't wait to see how the rest of the sets turn out. Hopefully Luke and Leia will both be included somewhere in the upcoming wave and not held off until next year.
-
The sets kind of feel more of the same to me, especially after the Lego Batman Movie. I'll be getting the Atlantis set but I'll probably just bricklink the figures from the others.

The blue jacket costume is Bespin Han. Even though he wears it well before Cloud City its generally the name given since the Kenner days to distinguish it from the other costumes in the trilogy.

We'd need a few battle packs but I think it would be a great way to complete the rest of the council. Oppo Rancisis should be fairly easy to pull off with existing parts. The Chima snake tail leg piece, wizard beard and sumo bun should be enough to do it. Depa Billaba would be great too since she wouldn't just add another member to the Jedi Council but also provide Bespin Leia with an accurate hair mold the next time Cloud City is revisited. I also can't see any other way of getting Yarael Poof, Yaddle or Coleman Kcaj outside of Jedi Battle Packs given their obscurity. Adi Gallia is long overdue though given her prominence in TCW and the EU. I think they can distinguish her minifigure from Stass Allie's pretty easily - just give her dark flesh skin like Panaka instead of reddish brown, regular black eyes instead of purple, sleeker face print, a blue lightsaber and get rid of the white undershirt on her Jedi tunic. It'll be great to also have the remaining Clone Wars Jedi updated without the anime face prints. Should only be Ki-Adi-Mundi, Shaak Ti, Eeth Koth and Even Piell left to go.

This was such a fantastic set! Definitely one of the best in the line next to Bag End and Orthanc. Looking back I only wish they had also included Eowyn in the set knowing she never appeared anywhere else. I wouldn't have cared if it had been Arwen or Tauriel that got excluded from the line, but not getting Eowyn remains one of my biggest disappointments.
-
Yeah its disappointing. The characters from the Original Trilogy, Rogue One and Force Awakens have been pretty well covered for the most part with only a few notable exceptions, but the Prequels feel like there's still too many missing gaps in their character selection. Most notably we're still waiting on Shmi Skywalker, Boss Nass, Rune Haako, Chancellor Valorum, Bail Organa, Captain Typho, Taun We, Lama Su, Dexter Jettster, Jocusta Nu, Mas Amedda, Wat Tambor, Tion Meddon, the Lars family and the remaining Jedi Council members. Plus there's also important variations of existing characters like Senate Duel Darth Sidious, Phase II Commander Cody, TPM variants of C-3PO and Nute Gunray plus the aforementioned Padme's. I kind of wish they would stop holding back on the prequel sets and try to fill in as many of these holes as possible.
-
Its sad how sorely neglected Padme gets compared to the other major heroes in the saga. Its definitely time for a new minifigure. For me the three most essential versions are the Theed Battle costume from TPM, an unripped variant of the Geonosis costume from AOTC and the Mustafar one from ROTS. Queen Amidala/Sabe in the black feather headdress gown and Padme in the orange handmaiden costume are also both must haves if a Royal Starship is ever released. As long as we get those I'll be happy. I also second an updated Ventress minifigure. I'd like to have a non-anime face print thats still based off her modern look from the CGI series rather than the Tartakovsky cartoon. Although her costume should preferably be based on the Nightsister or Bounty Hunter one from the latter seasons just for something new.
-
Good to finally have pics of the bounty hunters. Bossk looks fantastic with the extra printing and more accurate colours while 4-LOM is beyond perfection! Can't wait to pick them up.
