The costumes are not the same. You can see the differences between OT Yoda and PT Yoda pretty easily on the Sideshow figures here: http://www.rebelscum.com/SSC-Yoda.asp http://www.rebelscum.com/Yoda-Jedi-Master-Prequels-Sideshow-Collectibles.asp

You're not the only one. Its long overdue and I'm disapointed we still don't have one after all this time. Would be great if it included both the decoy Queen Amidala and Handmaiden Padme. I definitely agree with these ones. Seems a bit soon for another AT-AT though and I'm not really keen on another ARC-170.

There's a great new face print for updating Biggs in new Lego Batman Movie sets.

The UCS Hype. What will 2017 bring? (40th Anniversary)
wesker replied to Major_Ton's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'd be up for a Cantina playset as long as its an actual building like the Simpsons/Ghostbusters HQ sets and at least includes Wuher, Ponda Baba, Dr. Evazan and Garindan. The Yavin IV Rebel Base would be great too. -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
wesker replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Arkham Asylum looks great. I'm glad they went with a completely different design style to the UCS version. Not sure I really like the minifigures though. Riddler and Harley look to be worthy updates and I like Ivy's new hairpiece, but the rest just aren't doing it for me. Just a bit too different to whats come before rather than the definitive versions I was hoping they'd be. The Batcave looks decent. Not the best they've done yet not the worst. Just another release. I do like the rack with all the Batsuits and the boat has a very 60s-ish vibe to it, but my favourite part has to be the new Duckmobile. It looks awesome! Can't wait to get Alfred, Penguin and those penguin minions. -
The latest AT-ST is a massive improvement over the first two. I still think the Battle of Endor one holds up rather well though. The size and proportions are quite nice even if it lacks the polish of the newest version.

For me it depends on the individual character. Not every minifigure needs excessive levels of detail. Arm printing in particular is a bit of a novelty. Its nice to have on some characters like Boba Fett, but most really don't need it and sometimes it can risk ruining the appearance of a figure by making it look too overdone. I do feel the OT Stormtroopers are due for some hip printing though as the current figures look dated in comparison to the First Order Stormtroopers. As far as dual molding goes I think some characters could definitely benefit from it such as C-3PO, Rey, Ahsoka and Ben Kenobi. The technique has become common in the Superheroes line so those figures do feel like they could be up to a much better standard. Even minifigures like the Imperial Officers/Grand Moff Tarkin should be using it since the colour combination is already available through Batman in the Superheroes sets.

That was only an issue with the Imperial Inspection Stormtroopers because the belt printing covered both the torso and the hips. Lego would be better off leaving the belt printed on the torso only and give the hips a design similar to the First Order Stormtrooper. The only real difference with the hips on the OT Stormtrooper would be having two pouches instead of one and white portion in the middle not having a black line going through it. The leg printing should be relatively the same as the existing OT Stormtrooper aside from the continuation of the two pouches on the hips. Either way the black hips are outdated and really need to go.

Both battlepacks look pretty good. I'll be picking up a few of them. Will be interesting to see if the vehicles appear in the movie itself. I'm also curious to see whether the new Rebels are going to be used across the entire film or if some of them are going to be unique to certain planets like the Hoth and Endor ones were in the OT.

Jyn's torso print looks great. What I love about these cloth ponchos is that its giving us two different looks for the price of one minifigure - like having both ROTJ General and Endor Leia with the Shuttle or in this case Jyn's main costume and her Eadu one. I agree about the lack of leg printing though. She's fine without it while wearing the poncho, but when she's not wearing it she does look a little unfinished.

Shame the Desert Skiff pic is cropped off. Bit hard to make out the detail on the skiff itself. The beak of the Sarlaac looks to be an improvement but I prefer the outer wall with the teeth on the last one. The colours on the Weequay look to be the Skiff Master version and not the Skiff Guard that we got in the last Sailbarge. The bunker set isn't as bad as I was expecting. Still disapointed we're not getting an actual building like the Battle of Endor set but the entrance looks decent enough and should be fairly easy to expand upon. At the very least it gives us a new Cassian Andor variant and a solid supply for more Shoretroopers. Not sure I like the new Y-Wing. This new one seems a bit disproportioned, but I'm happy enough with the last two versions so I don't really need to upgrade. Looking forward to seeing the minifigures in more detail though. The Landspeeder is just a waste of a set. Barely any changes on the model, no new minifigures and released too soon after the last version.

I don't see the big deal about it either. I only see myself picking it up on impulse if there's nothing else to buy. Definitely the weakest set of the wave.
-
I think the exclusive is supposed to be the mystery Lando set. The new wave does feel a lot smaller with less battlepacks, microfighters and buildable figures this time around. Some of the set choices and lack of new minifigures also makes it feel rather underwelming. Still I'm happy enough with the three sets that leaked. Hopefully we see the new Rogue One sets soon. I don't see moving onto the new season as being an issue. The Clone Wars was up to Season 5 by the time we got the Malevolence and Season 2 Pre Vizsla. Plus we're getting Yoda's Interceptor next year despite the show being over for a few years now. A bigger concern for not getting her is that Rebels just hasn't gotten the attention that The Clone Wars did. The character selection has been much more limited as a whole and we're only getting one set in the upcoming wave. Not to mention those of us in Australia can only buy Rebels sets online now since retailers will no longer stock them (the only exception being any exclusives to Toys R Us) so we probably won't even see the new Phantom in stores next year. Not all the DLC characters are exisiting minifigures though. Both the Freemaker Adventures and Droids Pack include some characters made specifically for the game. Plus usually any upcoming minifigures that first appear in the videogames always come out in the wave that directly follows the game's release. While the Seventh Sister can still be released in the future, there's been no sign of her in the recent Summer wave or any mention of her in the Winter wave rumours so its unlikely we'll be getting the one seen in the videogame.

The new Phantom looks good. Has a much sleeker look than the original. I like the scale of Yoda's Interceptor. Was a bit worried it was going to end up being oversized. But I'm not sure it captures the sphere shape of the cockpit well. And it definitely needed another minifigure besides Yoda and R2. I'm probably one of the few that likes the Duel on Naboo set. Despite its small scale it does a good enough job at recreating the scene and I'm glad we're getting a complete pit unlike the half-platform Carbon Chamber from last year. But again - HUGE disapointment if Obi-Wan actually comes with the hood in the final product. I'm hoping he only has it because this is a preliminary image, because its ridiculous that he still can't get a proper hairpiece after 18 years when every other main character in the line has gotten one.

We've been getting re-releases regularly ever since 2004 - many sets barely changed from the last. I don't have an issue with Lego revisiting old sets, but it would still be nice to see some variety. Ones like the Landspeeder feel lazy in that its been a mere 2 years since the last release when there are plenty of others that could have used revisiting. Another thing I find disapointing about the new wave is that it sounds like it barely offers any new minifigures - updated or otherwise. Even with Rogue One and The Force Awakens coming out, it didn't stop us from getting plenty of classic characters who were either all new (Endor Han, Captain Tarpals, Toryn Farr, Ugnaught, R3-A2, R3-M3 etc) or needed long overdue updates (Vader, Luke, Leia, Tarkin, Luminara, Quinlan Vos, Naboo Soldiers, Endor Rebels ,K-3PO, Tusken Raider etc) Why not include one of the characters from Yoda's storyarc from which the Interceptor set is based on? They certainly had plenty to pick from - new variations of Dooku and Sidious, new characters like Darth Bane, Dark Yoda or the Force Priestess or even just updating another Jedi like Mace, Anakin, Ki-Adi-Mundi etc. What about a character like Garindan in the Landspeeder? Or even Theed Battle Padme in DOTF considering she's been absent from TPM sets for almost 20 years now? They definitely could've done more with the new wave. With there now being less room in each wave for OT, PT and TCW sets I'd like to see Lego make the most of their limited releases, not just take the easy way out.

Its nice that we finally have confirmation of the droid's identity, but at the same time I feel it doesn't really matter all that much since E-3PO, U-3PO and TC-14 are all near identical in appearance anyway. It wouldn't be much different to R5-D4 and R5-D8 sharing the same minifigure. I'm planning on picking up a few extras so I can have all three droids represented.
-
I don't think its too soon if we're getting another Desert Skiff next year. Although I do hope the next Sailbarge release is a UCS set. Something similar to the Sandcrawler that works as both a display piece and a playset with a good 14-16 characters included.
-
I'm okay with a repeated BvS minifigure since her costume doesn't look much different in the movie. Although I do think her minifigure would look better with black hair instead of dark brown.

How small is the facade? Is it like the entrance to Maz's Castle where its still a decent display piece or more like the old Jedi Defense set from 2001 where its just a small door?
-
Here's Hasbro's figure of the white creature known as Moroff. Wasn't expecting a Lego version but its very welcome news indeed. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
-
I'm fine keeping the braid printed as long as he had a hairpiece that captured the spikey look from the film and preferably had a short ponytail at the back. The current hairpiece is horribly dated and it would be ridiculous for him to still be using a hood after 18 years. I wouldn't mind if the iconic Star Wars ship is another TIE Fighter. Lego has been on a roll with the last four variations and we could use an updated version of the standard Imperial model, especially if the First Order version is off the market by the time the Winter wave arrives. Can't wait to see how the bunker turns out. Hopefully it will be similar in size to the Endor one. Will also be interesting to see which version of Cassian Andor we end up getting this time - the main costume, the jacket-less variant or the sniper look.
-
Would an official version be any different? You're talking about Tony Stark in a common business suit. Lego has so many existing suit prints available they'd probably just end up using an existing part if they made an official minifigure. Its like wanting a Death Watch Obi-Wan. Why bother with an official version when you can just place Obi-Wan's head on the Mandalorian Super Commando body? Either way you would still be getting the exact same minifigure.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
wesker replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
They're just two generic soliders. I don't think they're intended to be based on any named characters in particular. Both their uniforms were common among the Resistance fighters in the D'Qar scenes. The boxart for the Transport set is based on the battle on Takodana though. -
I agree that face print was awful! I'd like to see Lego go back to something similar to the design they used on the shirtless polybag figure. I think that face combined with his current torso/leg design would be the perfect Darth Maul minifigure.

Tarkin is pretty bad here in Australia. Anyone who does appear to be reasonably priced gets a ridiculous $20 shipping fee slapped on top. As if it costs that much to ship a single minifigure. Its not just the "one and done" characters though. Even the new Poe Dameron is going pretty high. So far the only one thats gone down in price is Teedo.
