That's strange, LDD never failed for me to save a model. Some hints: - check your disk: if you use windows try a checkdisk, then a checkdisk -R to repair the file system if there is any damage. If checkdisk -R don't solve the problem, look at SMART checksum and use MHDD to check disk's sectors. - building a model, save the file every time you complete a part. Then copy the file and maintain it until the model is not finished. At the end, verify the final file works, then make one or two backup copy of it and store that in another disk or computer. Then delete intermediate steps. EDIT: @Superkalle I already tried to repair it with a free zip repair, but without good results. He could try with other softwares, hoping to be more lucky.

@mithryl dlarix Share your problematic lxf file, so that we can examine it. Another thing. You wrote the same message in more topics: that's named "crossposting" and it is usually considered a good thing (when it is not roundly forbidden by the forum rule). This seems to be the right place, so let's continue here.

@bbqqq There is no need to wait the gallery became public: you can insert a direct link to the file. About the screenshot, if you don't know, you can use integrated LDD function: perhaps it can make the things easier for you. Another important thing: in this topic only official set, released and built using official instruction are admitted. So you should find instructions and correct it if necessary. The set seems to be official, anyway: the number should be LIT2009, the theme "Exclusives and Treasures" according to wikia or "LEGO Inside Tour Exclusive" according to Brickset and it was released in 2009. Extra: the real house. @penguinz I see you are well take advantage of your custom raise plate! Do you think to realize that of 6090 castle? Good but... now you need to resize it a bit! The image is oversize, according to the topic's rules. You can find all the rules in the firsts post!

LDD 4.1 Released
Calabar replied to Aanchir's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Probably it is not the file but if you share it we can confirm that! When you uninstall the software, be sure you delete the profile folder too. Try to open the lxf files with you archive software (which do you use? 7zip? Winrar? ...). The file is opened without problems? -

@adello25 Hi, good first work! Some things: - Image is irregular, it should provide a preview of the set in order to help other users to recognize it. The maximum image size is 512x512 pixel. I invite you to read the thread's guidelines in the first post of this topic. - You should share the lxf file. Only regular post with shared lxf file will be indexed. In order to share images and lxf file I suggest you to create a brickshelf account as the great part of other users did: it allows to share freely both images and LDD files using hotlinks. Forum's attachment function is not adequate because of its limits. - If you respect all the topic's rules, your set will be indexed, but it will be marked as incomplete, because minifigs and other parts are missing. You should replace parts that are not in LDD with some custom solution (that's valid for minifigs too).

LDD did some collision check at the opening only. So if you place a brick in a "extreme" way, starting LDD it could be detected an illegal collision and the brick (often together with some bricks around it) is removed. However, you can find the "UnplaceableBricksDump.lxfml" file inside the LDD profile directory. It contains you model and outline the problematic bricks.

If I have understood, you probably place a piece under something you placed before, so you lowered the ground level. In LDD, you can place an element only connecting it to another brick or to the ground, at ground level. So, if you placed the first baseplate at a certain ground level, and later you lowered that level, now you can't place an element at the same height in the same way. So, you have 2 options: - move or delete the bricks that have lowered the ground level, so that it returns at the same height it has before. - use a temporary scaffolding or a bridge to place the new plate, than delete it. The piece will remain where you placed it. It would be useful you place the lxf file, it would help us to better understand and solve the problem.

Thanks. So I was wrong, perhaps I confused it with a similar one! -
LDD 4.1 Released
Calabar replied to Aanchir's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I was looking for this hair piece in LDD Extended, but it seems there is not. The strange thing is that I remember it was available in previous versions (could be in LDD3 LU mode), because I thought to use it to reproduce a minifigure of one of my "real brick" MOCs when I had had to make a digital version of it. That moment is arrived but... I didn't find the piece! So... it is my memory that deceive me, or the piece has been removed? -
Before looking at the dump... try this: Open Task Manager and look at memory usage. Could be LDD crashes when all memory is used? How much ram is on your machine? Do you use a swap file? How is it setted?

Can you attach the (zipped) stack trace?

Building circular stairs in LDD
Calabar replied to alan_muhl's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@tiammath Great Idea! Unfortunately it seems the change makes the stair a little oversize, so that it don't fit in narrow spaces anymore. -

yes, two plates hight! NOTE: with 8 steps you can obtain a coverage of 180 degrees, but in order to have a step starting inline with the first, you need the a 9th. [EDIT] Here are my experiments. The final stair is the one on the right, based on the one on the left. Unfortunately, as I told before, its steps are floating. Here is the .lxf file. -

Not so bad, right! Did you measure it? It seems 1/2 stud smaller than it should be (speaking about radius). PS: note that the original stair need 9 steps to reach 180 degrees angle. -

Calabar replied to alan_muhl's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The assembly seems more difficult than expected. I'm wondering if the best choice is to built a unconnected stair! I'd like to maintain the 2x2 round column as pivot and connect steps to it, but it seems an impossible goal. -

@tiammath I was thinking about something link the second third stair. I'll modify that (I hope, at least!) so that the steps will be linked to the central column and, if it is not a problem for you, I'll post it in the topic of replacement pieces for LDD. -

Very good work with the stairs. I'm looking for a replacement for this stair, whose main piece is not available in LDD. Have you made something suitable for that? Or any other did? -
@moop2000 Images are regular in your last post, but, hum... "a little" oversize for such a small sets! Could you reduce that? (256x pixel should be much better!)

Let's revolutionize mosaic software!
Calabar replied to Lasse D's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
A feature I'd love would be to create a lxf or ldr file, so that I could have my "virtual" mosaic in 3D.
