It is not necessary to disturb an Admin to remove the topic, I'll do that when this discussion will end. About the "release" issue, I misunderstood your "pre-release" tag. Here in Italy the set has not been released yet, so I thought your words referred to that. Then there is not problem. About colours, I saw the post in the Official Sets Thread after I wrote here, so I simply added the "EDIT" paragraph on the bottom, without modifying what I've written before. About the rule related to image size, the rules for the forum (800x600) is different from the rule I used in the thread (512x512) because the aim is different. The first is aimed to don't load the forum with gargantuan images, the second to give a certain readability to the thread. About the respect of this and other rules, my experience taught me that allow exceptions simply means to be involved in endless discussions. So as much simply, I ask to respect the rules as are. Without the index, I think a topic as the Official Set Thread will be unuseful and confusing, so I think a not indexed set is simply like not posting a set. Then I hope that everyone who have interests in contribute to the thread will do everything is necessary to be indexed. What I mean is that the rules are not intended for users who want to see their work indexed only, but for everyone who want to use the topic. The choice to don't index irregular post is due both to stimulate users to follow the guidelines and to avoid extra work to the indexer, as the great part of the rules are thought to make this work simple, otherwise it would be prohibitive. And, obviously, indexing too is time and resources someone gives for the benefit of the community. As you can surely notice, English is not my native language, so I hope what I wrote is intelligible.

MINDSTORMS models anyone?

I checked the official topic just now, and it seems the model has been indexed already: click! -
MINDSTORMS models anyone?
Calabar replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It seems not a moc, so it should stay in the official topic. Am I wrong? -
It is politics of this forum to not post the set until it is released, even if few days are missing. Anyway, if you built it from original instructions (taken for example from LEGO site or from a box you bought), we can consider it released. So, please, verify that, so I'll move your post in the right place. PS: it seems the colour of the roofs is wrong. Did you check the colours? PPS: the preview image is too big for the official topic: trhe maximum size allowed is 512x512 pixel. EDIT: I see you added the set to the official topic too. So I'll delete this topic when you can confirm you have read what I wrote here.

A fish and 2 swords in a barrel
Calabar replied to Tontus's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Could you provide a screenshot (and if possible a photo of what you can achieve with real bricks)? If it should be a bug of LDD I'll move this post joining it to the topic created to report LDD bugs. -
I think this is definitely a good idea.

Have you got an image that can describe your "view"? -
LDD, run on a tablet PC
Calabar replied to Nachapon Bricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I'm trying Win8 preview on the device (it is much faster and reactive than win7, but a bit immature still), and at the moment I installed only the drivers that the system don't recognize its own. I'll try to update video drivers using the release taken from acer site than. Thanks. -
You should reorganize the set in "versions" and not in "models". The models 1 and 2 are the "version 1" of the set (if the set includes both models simultaneously), and so on...

LDD, run on a tablet PC
Calabar replied to Nachapon Bricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I'm trying LDD on an acer w500, but it seems there are many difficulties to rotate the scene. Did you update video drivers before using LDD? -
Question about palette colors
Calabar replied to captainmib's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
That's impossible, because in Extended mode every brick is available in ALL colours. The palette would become infinite... Very strange for a gear. I've not LDD here to check. What is the DesignID of that gear? -
Question about palette colors
Calabar replied to captainmib's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Ah, you mean the rotation tool. You can't rotate it because the axle fit the gear's hole without any "degree of freedom". The connection is solid! If you'll insert the axle in a technic hole, you will be able to rotate the the whole system "axle+gear". -
Question about palette colors

1) And... what's the problem, then? 2) Certainly! I'll wait your file, or perhaps someone will be able to answer you before. -
My models...(LDraw)
Calabar replied to widetent's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Thanks for your contribution. Are these official models or mocs? Can you provide some image as preview, or a list or something similar? -
Question about palette colors
Calabar replied to captainmib's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
About the first problem, you can change the colour of the bricks using the colour button under the bricks' palette. Later, if you want, you can change the colour of the every brick in the scene using the bucket tool. About the second problem, I'm not sure about what you mean. Could you provide an example lxf file? -
Using Blender to render LDraw model?
Calabar replied to widetent's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
30 seconds is acceptable I think, other forums require longer time. Anyway the limit has a pair of reason to exist: - prevent doubled posts, that could happen for error or if there are connection problems. - avoid spamming or monosyllabic and useless posts. - stimulate users to edit previous post instead than write more consecutive posts in the same discussion. -
Ooops I misunderstood! You can use LDD Manager as suggested above, or try to create HTML instruction: because of a bug, sometimes in the last step it creates a list of all parts (hoping the bug has not been fixed in latest releases ).

LDD4 has this feature. If it is not enabled, you have to enable it from the option dialog. You can even count the selected bricks. The data are shown in the bar under the viewport.

Making Sticker Part...
Calabar replied to widetent's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I think the first problem came from 256 color BMP, instead. While the second problem could be another issue, perhaps a bug of the software. -
Making Sticker Part...
Calabar replied to widetent's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
BMP file type is a lossless format, so the poor quality is not surely due to this. I think the problem is that you use 256 colours scale, while the bitmap support 24bit colours and alpha channel. -
Duplicates in LDD database
Calabar replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Oh, simply I see you pointed out the matter, so I asked myself what is the real reason you did it. I supposed it could be related to the size of the database, the organization of the palette, or simply you think it could generate confusion. I think that in LDD can cohabit different revision of a brick without problems. I think that TLG can provide us a great precision in this, helping us to catch the differences between almost similar bricks (more than bricklink or similar sites). So this distinction could be an "added value", and a great precision in creating models with LDD could be a very nice feature. -
LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
Calabar replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I updated my list in post #2. -
Duplicates in LDD database
Calabar replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@Superkalle But what is the real problem for you? Looking at the small number of these pieces, I don't think the issue is related to the size of the database, this thing could engrave in minimal percentage. So the problem seems to be the organization of the palette. At the moment it don't seems to me a terrible problem, but surely a better organization of the palette could help. I suggested to group these pieces, for example 4085 (Plate 1x1 with Clip Vertical) type 1, 2 and 3 could be joined under the same icon, allowing you to choose the type inside a popup (exactly as happens in DMB mode when you select the option to group colours). -
Argh! I had to be a bit heedless, yesterday! About the update of your models, remember to update the old posts and report the update here!

The process of creating decals in LDD
Calabar replied to LDeaD's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Aanchir's post reports "The cat decoration from set 10218 Pet Shop and 4842 Hogwarts Castle was also included in the update, but unfortunately the kitten piece 6251 currently lacks any decoration surfaces for this decoration to be applied to. " That means LDD has the decoration, but you can't apply it to the cat piece, because the cat piece has no support for decoration. A brick have to be modelled with one or more surface to host a decoration: cat's brick has none. If you need the cat face decoration applied to another brick (that supports decorations), that's probably possible. You should ask Aanchir the number of the decoration, then you can modify the lxf file as reported here.
