  1. Yes, when using "tricks" can be more comfortable, but this regards only the editing stage. Once the work on the file is finished, it is better to share a complete lxf file. No, the script help me to take the lxf files, but not to gather set's data. Obviously I could modify the script, but I think that a single format would be the best choice, it is not confusing for unexperienced users. I really don't know what does it means! About signatures, I like to see signatures in my standard browsing, so I don't remove that. About the minimal size, the rules suggest about 256px for small sets, but the exact value is up to the builder. Usually the problem is that builders use oversized images, too small images has never happened. As these cases are very rare and it is not easy to communicate a general rule, I prefer to manage the single case if necessary.
  2. The lxf file contains the lxfml one, but it is compressed and then more compact and easy to archive. Besides it is easier to detect corruption. And, above all, my script catch only lxf files on the page! Remember that I use the images to "detect" sets that will be indexed. If the image is too small the risk is to don't see it (can be confused with signature images).
  3. pbat, please share the lxf, not the lxfml file. PS: the image could be a bit larger, if you want
  4. Next time pay more attention about crossposting. As you can see, it can be confusing even for the one who writes the request!

  7. @DawnTreader Eheh, and that's why "for big sets" is underlined! Anyway the image was a bit bigger than 512x pixel, but now the entry is perfect! I forgot only one thing: don't use the forum attachment function, but an external hosting that allows hotlink. I suggest you to use brickshelf, that hosts both images and lxf files.
  8. @DawnTreader Welcome among contributors of this topic. Your entry is irregular: the image is oversized (I suggest for that a 192x size) and the set's data are not highlighted. You should carefully read the rules of the topic in the first post, and look at other regular posts as "inspiration". In the meantime, I convert the oversized image in a text link.
  9. As far as I know, there are three main ecosystem for LEGO digital CAD. - The LDD one (for the LDD software) - The LDRAW one (for MLCAD, SR3D Builder, LeoCAD, etc...) - The Mechabricks one (used in Mechabricks web cad) The first (LDD) has has a not expandable database, but the advantage of a great number of new parts, received sometimes even before TLG release the respective sets. The second (LDRAW) has an open and expandable database, containing the great part of old bricks and decorations, but lacks of many new parts that usually arrives with some delay. The third (Mechabricks) is very young and in development, it has a smaller number of parts than the other but the developer is available to accept and introduce new parts. In the gallery you can find complete sets that it is not possible to obtain with LDD or LDraw related software.
  10. If you share the lxf file, we could try to solve the problem for you. After all, it's all a matter of practice.
  11. Powray is good for animations too, see for example here. Anyway maybe he don't wanted to obtain a static video, but an interactive way to "play" with the model.
  12. No, LDD don't allow to create animations. Nonetheless there is the chance to use some tool, tought for other uses, to simulate some simple animations. You can found something among LDD Tricks. A software with native animation function is SR 3D Builder instead. To access to the animation console and all the animation functions without limits, you need the commercial version.
  13. Unfortunately in LDD many decoration that are in the database are not available through the decoration tool. So you have two ways: Create a palette using a file that contains all decorated parts. You can find a little guide about creating a custom palette here. You can find a lxf file including all the decorations in the LDD Reference topic, here. Manually editing the lxfml file, and adding any available decoration to any part that support decorations. More informations here.
  14. Your works are very interesting. As you seem to be familiar with Cinema 4D, what do you think to crate an indexed guide such as those for POWRay and Blender? It would be a very interesting resource for all these users who are looking for a good way for render their models, and a good place where to discuss, exchange views and improve the skill with the software. Once the work is done, I would index the guide together with the other ones. PS: I converted your images in text links. See the edit note on the bottom of your post.
  15. I like this set very much, and I ordered it. I didn't realize that there was three hairpieces for the bride, I thought there was only two before reading this review. Could I ask you to make a photo of the set (in its classic position) using the blonde hairpiece for the bride?

  18. mmm... then I've not undestood the way you measure the movement. I thought that "Target move -0.05 studs in five steps" means that you need 5 steps to obtain a precise movement of 1/20 stud. As for other tricks you declared a 1/80 stud momentent, I thought this one was less precise. Could you explain again, please? PS: a private message for you. EDIT: I tried again tricks #4a and #4b. in 4a, I found why it didn't worked for me: building the structure I removed the plate with clip and added another in a successive step. If I don't remove the piece, the trick works. Maybe in the video you make it invisible, but it is impossible to understand that looking at it. in 4b, I have no difficulties this time. Probably I placed the clips at the wrong distance last time. PS: the trick #10 is very similar to the technique I use for fine tuning the position of bricks!
  19. So it is less precise than #4a and #4b, that moves 1/80 studs. Am I right? These informations (such as "Target move -0.05 studs in five steps") would be very useful if added in the post of the trick.
  20. That's true. But, unfortunately, the list is often incomplete, and brickset reports how many bricks the list include comparing it to the total (example, for this set, parts 1180/1210). It depends on what you want to obtain. The extra parts (reported in bricklink's inventory too, in the column "Notes") are not part of the set, but are there usually for replacement (small parts are more easy to get lost). If you want to build the set, there spare parts are not useful. Otherwise, if you want to reproduce the content of the box, you can include that.
  21. I tried the last trick (#4c) and it works fine. I should try again #4a and #4b paying more attention.
  22. @GandalfofHoth About rotating bricks in LDD, is it a misfunction due to WINE or you don't know how to rotate bricks in LDD? And what do you mean exactly with "glitchy"? A screenshot could explain better the problem?
  23. Unfortunately I've not a computer where I can enable advanced graphics at the moment. I already tried to follow the trick pausing the video, but with no success. That's why I thought the tricks could work only with advanced graphics. Otherwise a step by step textual guide could show me where I'm doing wrong.
  24. Another alternative could be Mecabricks, that is platform idependent as it runs on the web browser. It requires a WebGL support.
