Building Groundplates - Get them now!
Calabar replied to Solidbrick's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
The LDD custom bricks are grouped in this topic. Unfortunately, it seems there is the same problem with the baseplate 6024. Usually you could try to pull out the baseplate from the Sets that use it, but this time it seems that there are not sets that uses it. About baseplate 2552 zinfinion shared an improved version here. So the only thing that remains to do is to rebuild the baseplate 6024 basing on the exhaustive images that Solidbrick leave us. Do you think are you able to do this work? Does anyone saved the lxf file of the baseplate 6024 before it got lost? -
Oh, I didn't recognize it as a Set. Please remove your entry from there and create a new post under this one. Be sure the new post is regular before submitting it, according to all the rules that you can find in the first post of this topic (take a look at other regular posts as example). About Futuron, I'm pretty sure there are many sets from this theme (I myself have built one, the StarDefender 200). Futuron is a sub-theme of space and so you can find that models under the "Space" theme.

There are almost ever missing parts and errors in LDD file, due to bugs, limitations and an incomplete bricks palette. If we should wait that every parts is available, we will have few sets in the index. I fixed again your post #3094. Remember that you can't quote images here. Try to reduce quotes to the minimum indispensable.

Yes, your suggestion is absolutely welcome. Help other builder to improve their models is one of the goals of this topic. To ease his work, could you report the part's id? The baseplate is only a draft. I used a dark colour to give a false sense of deepness and make it more visible. Obviously if someone would share a better version of the moon baseplate I will replace it in my sets. I meant to do that by myself but I didn't produce nothing that satisfied me, so I prefer to leave the stylized version. PS: remember that images can't be quoted in this topic.

@ashir Thanks for the fast fixes! Yes, the forum merge automatically two consecutive posts submitted in short time. You should wait a bit before posting again or wait that another user add a post. I move the entry on the top of your post for better readability. About renderings, the aim of the thumbnail is to show the CAD model, not the real model. We all know the real model and there are many databases that reports images of it. A screenshot is a good way to evaluate in a glance the quality of the work made by the builder. I don't aim to a shining showcase, but to a useful one. About the set 1069, the size of the rendering was much better. 512x pixel size is for large set and 1069 is very small and compact (the image should be no more than 256x pixel). Same thing for 1425. I've seen you didn't "text-linked" the rendering in your post, as you already did it, it could be a good addition to your entry.

Mainly because the aim of the thumbnail is (together with make the set recognizable) to show the work made in LDD. The screenshot is surely the more affordable way to show how the real work is. Large images, renderings and any other addition can be provided as extra, but not directly showed in the post.

@ashir Renderings are not allowed, you should post a screenshot from LDD. You can insert the rendering as an extra using a link. I've added bold to the set's data, that was not highlighted properly. Another thing: attachment function of the forum is very limited, I suggest you to create a brickshelf account to post both image and lxf with direct link. The lxf for your set 6342 here is not available anymore. @vean The image is still irregular because uncropped. EDIT: perfect, thanks!

@Walter Kovacs Surely much better now! One suggestion: if you used an unofficial part, you could include in your entry a link to download a zip containing the extra part and a txt file with the instruction on how to use it.

Hi vean, welcome to the Official LEGO sets made in LDD topic. Thanks for your entry, but you need to fix the image to make your post regular. You can find all the rules of the topic in the first page.

@Rom1Kno If these are MOCs, that should be posted in the proper forum section (LEGO Town seemst to be the more appropriate). I can move that if you confirm. If this is a request for help or your models contains built techniques with digital cad that can be interesting for the users of this section, it can stay here, but you should share the lxf files. Remember that maximum size allowed for images in this forum is 800x600 (but the rule suggest to use smaller size, if possibile). This time I edited your post converting the images in text links.

Thanks for that! Anyway I meant the set's name, not the filename! That because it is the set's name that usually enlarge the box (the filename has the whole line). Add this rule to the filename too is the best choice, anyway! EDIT: look at my gallery now, I modified a bit your script to achieve what I mean. The result is much more... aligned!

Very good work. Here is a test with my Official Sets creations. It seems the script "eat" the first digit of the filename. Another little improvement could be to allow set's name to be wrapped in more lines, to avoid the excessive enlargement of the thumbnail. Or, maybe even better, use the suspension points for characters that exceed a certain length and a tooltip to show the complete name.

Nearly every possible way to make trees.
Calabar replied to Luigi700's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I suggest you to add a screenshot of the creation. A screenshot could be useful to show the work and more clearly communicate its content. -
Something weird in Blockland v0002.
Calabar replied to Luigi700's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Hi Luigi, if you want to create a reference topic for Blockland v0002, you should before introduce the software, it's aim, describe it, attach (not oversized) images, write or link a guide, add a comparison with other CAD software if necessary. -

LPub and MPD Files
Calabar replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Didn't know specifically this one, anyway I think that have our tutorial, that we can update according to our experience and followed by an experienced user, would be better. Besides, it will be the first part of a topic where people can ask and receive help about LPub. -
Perfect renders - can it be done?

LPub and MPD Files
Calabar replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I take advantage of the situations saying that, if someone want to create a simple, complete step-by-step guide to LPub, he/she is welcome and the guide will be indexed. -
LDD 5, what features do YOU want?

LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
Calabar replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Obviously nothing forbid us to "dream", I only wanted to suggest to focus requests on more realistic matters. Maybe a good idea could be received from the LDD Team and all we could enjoy of it. -
Perfect renders - can it be done?
Calabar replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@Blip Take a look at here. Remember that the most of the software related to digital cad are listed in the Section Index. One note: about your MOCs you should post them in the Star Wars section*, then you can report them here using the Eurobricks MOC LXF Index. * except for those that uses interesting built techniques that could be shared and discussed here in the digital section.
