LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
Blazej_Holen replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Not entirely true..Witch King of Angmar was actually buried after he dies. The wraith you mentioned was his soul turned to evil. But he havent any human form. Black riders are only empty robes , armored atc to look like humans they were once, but their physical bodies are actually buried.- 7,499 replies

LOTR & The Hobbit 2013 Set Discussion
Blazej_Holen replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I think that there is a plenty of bad guys variation but what we need is some good characters, like regular soldiers from gondor, rohan and so on... we have: Moria orc Gundabad Orc Hunter orc Mordor Orc Uruk Hai Goblin (twice) Black Rider Necromant Mouth of Sauron Cave Troll Goblin King Brick built spiders Shelob Gollum Yazneg Azog Uruk Hai berserker Warg Umbar corsair Grima Saruman almost every unnamed character is massively produced (especially orcs) but there is way to small amount of good guys Rohan soldier (1 type) Theoden Eomer Haldir 4 type of elves Thranduil Elrond Arwen Dead soldiers (good or bad? :) ) Lake town guard + master Bard and Beorn Fellowship of the ring Dwarven company But what about rangers of ithilien? Gondor soldiers? Rohan riders? Elven knights? Some dwarves fromthe council even hobbits or some character from Bree, maybe some citizenns from Edoras, Minas Tirith, Elrond house... And also if they create sets like Corsair ship, they should also create some other Gondorian cities, at least one of them which is under attack of corsairs... And maybe I want to see some haradrim with their unique helmets and orient armour. There is so much potential... And to the baddies...where is twilight nazgul, fell beast, Oliphant, Watcher in the watter, more trolls, etc? So much potential and so much ideas for sets for 10 years forward :) This is interesting... http://lego-minifigures.tumblr.com/ check out LOTR 2014 sets list ... I know that these names been there quite while ago but this looks like believable...- 7,499 replies

Not that big. First we have discusion why TLG create only courtyard rather then whole fortress, then I was defending DGB set against haters who have some really crazy arguments about size and so on, and repeating all these really silly arguments over the same things again...Then we compare size of the Helms Deep which you have mentioned, against the size of the DG still as LEgo set..then we continue to real sites in the movie...and now its regardless? Man, it was part of explanation why probably TLG did only this scene and not whole fortress :D Try to connect your opinions, thoughts and judgements to make it clear and to make it sense, otherwise its only some moaning in the dark :) Btw, Helms Deep is only fortress Dol Guldur was a Capital of the Grey Elves from Mirkwood...Its the same like if you compare Edoras and Minas Tirith :D -

Thats not true. Sorry laddy, but Helms deep is just fortress or keep in normal size and easy to recreate (afterl all in lego this is really no big deal) but on the other hand, if you want to recreate it properly, it could be hard, Eurolock can say a word :) But DG is something Different, there are lenty of halls and tunnels and chambers...also staircases, ruined towers and so on... So your argument is irrelevant. -

I see, but this design of orc (my link) was used in the Battle of Azanulbizar... The new design is worse i think. Acording to this only picture, he looks like random orc, or more likely random member of somebody personal guard... That old design was better, and memorable, because it gives Bolg some kind of personalitylook, anyway I will wait for the movie before judge him down :)- 7,499 replies

Your example about Helms Deep is out of thequestion, btw there is a set recreating only deeping wal - Uruk Hai Army, but I get your point. You must understand that Helms Deep is farmore easier to recreate as satisfying set than Dol Guldur. Same as Barad Dur and Tower of Orthanc. TO is easier to recreate than Barad Dur at his full glory. MOM and DGB are only scenes form movie, and TLG probably realize that its much moreeasier to recreate only scenes than full locations. Look at the GKB or Barrel Escape, or Escape from the Mirkwood spiders. These sets catches only the feeling from themovie and give us the characters which are involved in, and also there is a logic, to collect all the characters by buyng every set they put in a stock. There are some exeptions like Gandalf, because he is almost in every scene, that probably because of playability of the sets...Its really hard task to make some set based on a movie and catch all potencial buyers like AFOLs, Childs, those who buy only one or few sets becouse they have no income or money to make that effort to themselves. Anyhow, I am not defending that fact that DGB is "only wall" I am trying to be objective and unbiased. MOM and DGB are basically same sets recreating different scenes and catching different characters. This doesent means that DGB is poor on somehow average, its a good set with atmospehere and anyone can make it larger, and thats also one of the goals of TLG...to motivate you to do some your own creations. You get for your money good start with crucial characters, and if you want to see whole fortress, do it ... :) -

As DESKP said, its not a fortress. Sometimes I really doubt some peoples inteligence (no offense) becouse, this information is so much obvious, that I cannot undesrtand why there are so many peoples says the same things all over again - like "this is only grey curved wall.." "this is NOT Do GULDUR but some random staircase and little Tower with dark bley something.." and blah blah blah :) And Glorified Mines of Moria - this is the same case - it represents a scene from a movie like DGB (we will see...) both of these sets are full of named characters, and is only a point of view which of those we like more. Yes, there is a cave troll in MOM set, and yes, there are bald orcs in DGB set... but there is also Radagast and Azog + great statue. Both of these sets has atmosphere, and to be honest, DGB feels more evil, more desperate and mystic, than MOM. And other issue - stickers...almost every spot in MOM set has a sticker. In DGB there is only few of them and they are more detailed and helpfull. But this is only my point of view.. P.S. my advice to those DGB haters - u dont have to buy this set, and you dont have to have Azog minifig as well. Before DGB came out everyone want to own AZOG minifig, and in that time we already know how that minifig look (SSDC preview) so I dont understand these little problems, frankly even Necromancer is good fig. Its better to have it if you are fun of LOTR and Hobbit rather than not have it. :) Yes, but this is NOT Mines of Moria, this is only Balins Tomb room... Nothing else :) same as DGB ..this is ONLY courtyard..nothing else... I can say that TLG can do better with 130-150dollar set with bridge of Khazad Dum, and (or) with entrance with a tree, and maybe with watcher in a watter. These are same arguments, and I thing that in short while many of those who dont like DGB will like it afterall. :) And also DGB is better set for unexpensive MOC :) So go on... -
