Selander Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) V-LC-18C Some pitcures of a heavy transport I built. Decal in the rear is from set 7900. EDIT: Front-loader is inspired by similar work by P Normandin and Steven Ashbury (and probably others as well...) Comments are welcome..... WesternOutlaw Posted December 20, 2009 Very nice Selander. I really like your building style, and you're very good at building these construction vehicles. Nice use of the LEGO sticker on the trailer. Front-paged! EDIT: Actually, I was talking about the long yellow and red stripe along the side, which I see is not a sticker at all. -Excellent use of pieces.
Rick Posted December 20, 2009 Really nice MOCs again Selander. I really like the combination of studs up and SNOT on the front of the truck (the only thing I dislike about it is the trans-neon-orange 1 x 1 round plate; I think it would look better with a trans-orange piece). The front-end loader looks really impressive.
Ralph_S Posted December 20, 2009 Nice truck. It has a good level of detail and the bright colours work really well for a truck like this. It has a nice and clean look to it that might make it look a bit simple, but that is hard to achieve in practice. The front loader looks good too, certainly for its scale. I love how you;ve mounted the grille plates at the back at an angle to follow the slope, for instance. Have you tried adding (things that look like) hydraulic rams to it? Cheers, Ralph
M_longer Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) Hmm.. these machines looks familiar... Oh, I know, long time ago Pnorm had made some nice looking truck: and front loader: Your models looks almost like them, with few changed parts... I think if you have based your models on someone else's work, you should at least mention the source. Otherwise, I'd consider it as a plagiarism. lightningtiger Posted December 20, 2009 'OH YEAH !' (Chef Mundal - Chowder) Fanastic truck and loader, love the trucks front end and the detail to the front end loader - cool ! And also the mix of some studs and SNOT too - great ! Keep up the great work, 'Selander'.
WesternOutlaw Posted December 20, 2009 I think if you have based your models on someone else's work, you should at least mention the source. Otherwise, I'd consider it as a plagiarism. Those are pretty harsh words. I think that many builders get ideas from others' MOCs, but Selander has made many creations that are excellent. One can get a sense of how good a builder is by looking at the persons' other creations. I don't know the inspiration for these, but I don't think this builder has to copy from others. EDIT: but I definately see the similarity. The front-end loader looks almost the same as that of Pnorm's Brickshelf image. It looks like Steven Asbury is entitled to some credit for the design. Legostein Posted December 20, 2009 Hello! I will start with something unique from this trailer. The red/yellow colour mosaic works well for thr reflecting stripes inportant for the security for such heavy transport. What I's like to suggest for this heavy haulage is to add more orange/yellow warning lights on top the truck roof and the back of the trailer. These are typical for such transports and make yours more unique as well. Cheers, ~ Christopher
MetroiD Posted December 21, 2009 I think if you have based your models on someone else's work, you should at least mention the source. Otherwise, I'd consider it as a plagiarism. Don't mean to be rude here Selander and I must say I've really enjoyed your past designs, but I erm... have to agree with that 100%. Loving the truck, but it's practically a 1:1 copy of pnorm's design and the same goes for the front-loader. It looks like the only design purely "original" here is the trailer and while that does look nice and the red-yellow stripe is an eye-catcher (which is not always needed in construction transportation...), I really feel it should have been done in 7 (if not even 8)-wide. That machine looks waaay too big n wide on top, would be dangerous if it were hauled that way.
CommanderFox Posted December 21, 2009 An amazing MOC Selander The front end loader is Fantastic! Really nice job with this! CommanderFox
Milan Posted December 21, 2009 I have to agree, too... These creations are looking great, but they are very similar to those from Brickshelf. At least your excavator looks very good together with truck and loader.
gt1fan Posted January 3, 2010 That machine looks waaay too big n wide on top, would be dangerous if it were hauled that way. The loader could be an L220 or L350....those hang off the side of the lowbeds that we use to haul them...I worked at a local Volvo CE Store in California
