  3. I have revamped Samurai X's Power Suit in 2013. It now features new hands, additional weapons, and an upgraded rocket pack with greater flexibility. Click any picture to enlarge it. Here's the rocket pack. The rocket pack has been deployed. Plus, I added flames! (Note: Only the type of flame with the base rim will fit inside the rocket elements.) The rockets can now move in multiple directions. The hands can rotate at the wrists, and the fingers can move. Each of the weapons now connects to the hands via Technic elements. My connection design allows the weapons to be switched around. Download the LXF file of this model, or check out the Brickshelf gallery when it's public. Thanks to Cat's Cache for providing the additional pieces I used in this revamp! -Toa Of Justice
  4. Hi all! I've recently finished a pair of mechs. Normally I would post two threads, but these belong together. The idea was to make a versatile frame which could serve as basis for multiple different mobile suits, which would help save time with designing complicated body components such as the cockpit and articulated waist (more on that later). In the end, I'm a little skeptical if the cockpit is actually suitable for different add-ons beyond simple colour swaps. In any case, the design uses pretty common parts which are available in many different colours. For the moment, I'm satisfied with my M-tron and Ice Planet variations, but I wouldn't rule out more colour swaps in the future. Now without further ado, let's get to the pics: General Overview It's no secret that OXON III, which I made last year (see topic), was the go-to reference for these new mechs. I adopted its angular design language, and partially copied its lower arms, legs and hands. I was also aiming for the same size as OXON, but with a great reduction in weight, which I succeeded in. The Ice Planet FOXX was constructed first, although the differences between the two are minor. Functions & Features Not much to discover here, just an opening cockpit. Any mobile suit or mecha should suit a pilot in my opinion, so it's there. Interior detail is absent, though. No hidden canons in the shoulders that OXON had, either. Most of the assets are to be found in the other departments. Articulation This is where the the main innovations were made. First of all, there is front to back waist articulation. The upper torso can raise up, come down, lean a bit backward and lean quite a lot forward, over the hips. No side to side movement or twisting of the torso. I wanted to try to my hand at functional waist actuators. I couldn't figure out a cylinder-bar construction, which would allow for independent 'pushing and pulling' on the upper torso. Instead, mine are a fixed length, so I made the distance to the torso (in place of their individual length) variable. They are both connected to a block that slides up and down the crotch (is groin or pelvis a more correct term?). This is done with 1x4 bricks with inset and 1x2 'slider plates', but it doesn't add friction. There's a technic ball joint in the spine and together with two pairs of small ball joints in the actuators there is enough friction (most of the time) to keep the torso in the pose you want it to be in. In addition, I made a number of smaller improvements. In general, the limits of what the joints can bear are exceeded less easily due to reduced weight compared to OXON. The neck follows the 'floating head' design from X-RAY³ (topic here), rather than a more humaniod ball-socket connection. It has more points of articulation and is able to look up much further, which is useful when the torso is facing the ground. Furthermore, the shoulders are less restricted in their outward movement, and made more simplified the ankle stabilizers. Interaction Mechs are more fun together, I tested it for you! Thanks for looking! C&C appreciated!

    [MOC] Unicorn Alpha + Instructions

I recently started building small robots and just completed my first instructions video. I think i got some inspiration from Gundam RX0 for this one. This mech is quite robust, very posable and awesome! (or at least cute i hope xD) It comes with few accessories that can be turned into guns/wings and attached into different places. 6. Hello everyone, this is my new LEGO Gundam MOC. This time i want to try to build a Mobile Suit from Universal Century timeline which has similar design with RX78-2 Gundam in the Scale 1/60. This Gundam is from the movie "Mobile suit Gundam F91", piloted by Arno Seabook ( appear again in Cross Bone Gundam ). The "F" in the name stand for "Formula". This is light class Gundam, and of course shorter than other normal Mobile Suit. But this Suit equipped with the very powerful weapon: Variable Speed Beam Rifles (VSBR) on the back. At first i just make it extend the length just like the MG version. But then i think its possible to implement the extended armor just like Metal Build version, and this is the result. Maybe you will see it clearer in the Youtube video. 14. This is a model based on Draez's model. I came across his brickshelf folder sometime in 2006. As soon as I saw the available LDR files I knew I had to build the model. What ensued was my first and only large scale lego project. I learnt the basics of ldraw to make out the construction and found a lot of clipping sections and parts that I did not have access to, so I changed quite a few things internally both to substitute parts and improve stability while still trying to maintain the shaping. About a year later I was done with model and since 2008 the strike freedom has stood on my shelf. Its missing 4 of its 8 dragoon and the colour scheme makes no sense but I'm quite proud of it. I'll be moving this year, so I thought that I'd take a few photos and share them before I packing it.

    W40k Tau Battlesuit

So, I've always been a fan of warhammer 40k, specifically the Tau. Their battlesuit designs just do it for me. Since getting back into Lego I've been itching to start building anything from this universe. This is my first complete attempt, having gone through half a dozen different designs, each one getting progressively smaller until I've settled on the right scale whilst keeping the correct shape. I present an XV8 Crisis Battlesuit. This particular one is a Commander with an in universe 'irridium' upgrade, twin fusion blasters, shield generator and drone controller. https://imgur.com/H24sH6u https://imgur.com/JoKbSK4 https://imgur.com/Dm2dqqj https://imgur.com/I7Z3NuB https://imgur.com/0E5mm4E Images for reference This is about as small as I can get it with the pieces I have and keeping the overall shape and movement. I'd originally tried to get it with a pilot and opening chest plate as it is in canon, but it ended up being much bigger, and one of my first attempts came out the size of an in universe 'ghostkheel', a battlesuit much bigger than this one, so I've settled for imagination. It's made largely from Reys' Speeder and the creator 3 in 1 Mythical Creatures sets, plus odd other assorted pieces. I'd like to try and get some more detailing onto it, especially the rear of the legs and maybe the torso, see if I can find some printed tiles or something. I might also try and make more realistic weapons for it, I know the ones attached are stylized. I'm either going to try and build some accompanying drones, or another suit, or something from another faction entirely! Comments, criticism, advice and other W40k mocs and ideas very much welcome!

I wanted to build for quite some time a multiple legged mecha. And ofcourse it had to be a Blacktron I version!
  18. I've been fiddling with that blackknight helmet and the mech torso for a while, it finally came together. The mudflap piece creates an amazing seal along the front of the mech torso. Also giving you hidden room for control detail. I stole the hand design and I find it very stable. Oops I left one the collars up a bit. Yeah that random knight will just have to do for now. Used the rounded click hinge for the collars.

    [LDD-MOC] Big Dai-X

As you might imagine from my avatar, this is a mecha MOC that is close to my heart. It's also the first one I've tried exclusively in LDD, although I have tried building a small part of it to try and get a sense of scale and it could be pretty big in real life! Dai-X was a big part of the eighties puppet show Star Fleet, originally X-Bomber in Japan. He's a Go Nagai design. Having already completed the show's mothership, X-Bomber, physically and digitally, I had requests to do Dai-X because he's probably better known and more fun! I found two other examples of him around, but I decided to take a microfighter approach to him - so you have three component Dai-X fighters, that merge to form the big Dai-X mecha. I realised I could manage that because of some of the Ninjago mechs my son has - their hip/torso join lent itself to the sort of scale I wanted to work at. I also managed to generate LDD versions of the characters that were reasonably close, which was a real bonus. He doesn't look as slick as modern mecha, and my building technique is probably not the best, but I do hope to build him one day and I'll make the build file available digitally when I have a minute. Here's a picture to have a look at, there are more here too of course: Dai-X on Ideas I'm also on Twitter if you want a word, @StafFleetXBLego This is my first attempt at a mecha design so I'd be grateful for any feedback!

    [MOC] Transformers Rodimus Prime

This LEGO project started immediately when POTP Rodimus official photos was revealed few months back. Instead of replicating POTP Roddy design (Hot Rod merging with his trailer to form super mode) ... I have chosen to integrate all of his vehicle components in robot mode, not unlike 3rd Party version of him, DX9. Initially he would "merely" transform from vehicle to robot mode but halfway through I decided to throw in a base mode after some tweaking. I relish on giving myself extra challenge there to kinda prolong the building process. Recently I got hold of a phone that could capture decent HD vids so from now on, instead of snapping photos of the transformation.. I will capture a video showing my nimble hands transforming my LEGO TFs. Please please please please subscribe my youtube channel..!! PROMOTIONAL PIC VEHICLE MODE BASE MODE Being a fan of base mode TF... I love to arm the base mode of my LEGO creations with tons of weaponry for defensive and offensive purpose. ROBOT MODE Before I get started on my LEGO TF project, I usually set in mind a few challenges/aims for the final design of my creation. For this Roddy: - Better proportions and neater kibbles not obstructing his waist , for a sharper looking silhouette - Curvier and less blocky legs derived from a blocky trailer. - I wanted less red (and more black/gray) for the legs from the primarily red vehicle mode. This means turning the trailer panels inside out to form his legs. - getting the vehicle cockpit to fit a lego minifigure - Chest to store the matrix. A definite must! - Forearm mounted cannons. Due to design limitations... his forearm cannons doesn't come from the vehicle intakes/exhausts. The arms are concealed inside the trailer together with the cannons. I am forced to distribute the intakes to become his shoulder mounted cannons instead. As usual.... hit my blog to view more photos ! http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2017/11/lego-rodimus-prime-part-3-of-3.html And follow me at facebook to get updates on my work in progress! https://www.facebook.com/alanyuppiebrick/ Thanks guys!
