Builder's note: To some, this may not seem to be a barracks in strict terms. Arnarvhall is based more substantially on Norse culture/mythology than most other Mitgardian groups or builds. In that sense, a Mead Hall counts as a barracks as it would be the place that warriors and freemen would gather with their Jarl to vote, plan raids, receive gifts of treasure or arms, etc. Vegrsala, the seat of power in Arnarvhall, is such a place. I channeled SK and Ecc a lot for this build. All credit to them for introducing many of the techniques and elements that define the Norse-inspired style of Mitgardia. Please forgive the photography. My set up is not great for builds this size so I did the best with what I have. I am really proud of this build, anyway, and it's the biggest I've done for GoH to date! Oh and this also marks the completion of my entries to Age of Mitgardia's military section! It's been a year since the fateful day when Alva first picked up her father's axe. Here, at the seat of power in Arnarvhall and gathering place of all the warriors who owe fealty to Jarl Asbjorn, the completion of Alva's training is celebrated in the Old Way. The winter is again receding, with spring promising new life for the growing things and new responsibilities for Alva Tyrnsdottir. Not everyone can join the merriment in the Hall, however. One of the young wives must exercise the hounds. The local dwarves of the Woody Hills, long-time allies of Arnarvhall, supply the mead from their apiaries. Though unaligned with their troublemaking cousins to the East, they still don't like elves much and take an opportunity to cut across the path of a wounded elven messenger. The Path leading up to the Hall's entrance is busy with incoming warriors and well-wishers. A little behind the scenes shot. Some of the roof panels are removable. The interior of Vegrsala. A turkey is roasted on the spit, while windows are opened to let fresh air into the hall. Alva is not Arnarvhall's first shieldmaiden. In honor of her, however, two women were selected to stand guard on the Hall armory. One is a bit distracted by the handsome men and the romantic notes of the skald's lute. This day may be prouder for Asbjorn, who has championed Alva's training, than it is for her own father. He smiles beneath his great red beard as he hands her the arm-ring that signifies her full bond to him, to the Jarldom, and her status in the clan. Beneath the High Seat, a bearded Mad Marginn happily beats his shield to signal his protege's triumph. And though dark days lay before her, for Alva today is a good day.

For a Mitgardian Ranger, the taming of a dragon is a key coming-of-age and initiation ritual. The chosen dragon, who was assigned when the ranger was born, is starved for two weeks, then released into the wild. The ranger must then track and find the enraged dragon. The defining moment of the Dragon Trial is the actual taming of the beast. The Ranger must approach the dragon weaponless, and be judged by the dragon. If the dragon deems the ranger worthy, then the ranger has found a lifelong companion. If not... Well the dragon was REALLY hungry... Here Sir Infernum can be seen following in the footsteps of his brother, the head ranger, and taming a Snowvenom dragon. So this is a freebuild I made a while ago. Not much else too say! Thanks for looking!

Upon finding out the secret location of a cave the dwarves had hidden from the outside world, Edward von Graystar and Sir Gareth sent their best spies to infiltrate the cave and find out as much information as they can. In the darkest depth of the cave one such spy found a stockpile of weapons amassed for the war against the elves. This is the second part of a collab story with Sir Gareth and myself The goal was to show men spying on dwarves on a 16x16 base with minimal overhang. I'm quite proud of this build as this is the first time I've use snot rock work, but seeing as this is for a challenge I've decided to push myself to see what I can achieve All C&C welcome and all the best to everyone participating in the challenge!

He was told that Pjeter was waiting for him at the One Winged Angel a local pub. Wyndor walked in and sat down at the table. “Welcome home Wyndor” Pjeter said. “I trust your journey with Glorfindel was fruitful.” “It was,” Wyndor started, “I was able to get a feel for how the rest of Mitgardia is reacting to the current unrest in Historica. Things are not looking good for Mitgardia my friend. There is a lack of trust that is present across all of Mitgardia. The clansmen don’t trust the townsfolk. The townsfolk don’t trust the current leaders to make the right choices to keep them safe. The dwarves don’t trust the elves. And no one trusts anyone from another guild.” “Well, what do you recommend to help Dalig Ulv stay free from this cloud of mistrust?” Pjeter asked. “To begin with, we must find out who is behind all these attacks in our city. The people here will not be able to trust each other if they are always looking for a hidden dagger in their neighbors hand. We also need to foster more trust amongst the council members and city leaders” Wyndor said. “I see you’ve changed your tunic color,” Pjeter said. “Hopefully that will help Lief mistrust you less!” “Yes, Lief is a troublesome one right now. I fear that he does not share our same concerns for the city” answered Wyndor. “But more troublesome is this attack in the market I heard about.” “I trust Valanice has already given you a full account of the attack?” asked Pjeter. “Yes, and of the mysterious defendants” Wyndor answered. “I’ve since learned more about them” replied Pjeter. “It is confirmed that they were all members of the Blue Wolves. They continue to be present at every attack of the dwarves. But this time, either they arrived too late to kill the dwarf themselves, or they were after something different.” “Natolyth also told me that Edea was present” said Wyndor. “If she is here, then nothing is as simple as it seems.” Just then a messenger came up to Pjeter. “Sir, we’ve captured one of the Blue Wolves!” he said. Wyndor and Pjeter exchanged glances. “We might be about to get the answers we desire” said Pjeter. “Please, lead us to him.” OoC: And with that I finish all of the Phase II builds!

The whole series is based organized by guild and vocation. From front to back: Mitgardia, Avalonia, Kaliplin, Nocturnus. From left to right: Laborer, Warrior, Artisan, Noble. Though much of Mitgardia has moved on from the Old Ways, the west is still home to many traditional clans. The Jarl is the war leader and representative of a clan, to whom the warriors swear conditional fealty. The Jarl provides the direction and doles out the treasure, arms, and other resources of the clan in exchange for the service of the warriors. This Jarl straddles two worlds, the old and the new, with his patriotic display of Mitgardian colors contrasting with the traditional arm-ring of the western clans. The dwarves of Mitgardia are esteemed craftspeople. Stone is one of their favorite mediums, allowing dwarves to turn their monuments and settlements into awe-inspiring sights down to the most minute detail. This young woman has a flamboyant streak, decorating the obligatory hardened dwarven head gear with a colorful jewel and golden plume. The Shield Wall is an ancient battlefield technique that can allow a disciplined and brave band of warriors to take on much greater forces. This woman has tossed aside the traditional role of women in Mitgardia in favor of taking up a place in a Shield Wall. A veteran of many campaigns, she is a fierce and striking figure. There are many tribes of beastmen throughout Historica, but the best trackers are the Snow Stalkers of the Northern Wolf People. With his camouflaged cloak, tough leather armor, and canine companion, this Snow Stalker is prepared to take on any of the many dangers of the North. His speciality is the hunting of wargs. The elves of Avalonia are well known for their affinity with nature and the ephemeral magics of life itself. Druidism originated with the elves, and they are still its most fervent practitioners. In the secluded wooded realms of the most isolationist elven bands, High Druids tend to be community leaders, responsible for the spiritual and ecological well-being of everyone. This High Druid has not been in her position long, but her will power and confidence are unshakeable. Avalonia has a proud tradition of poetry and music. Bards are travelling entertainers that often move around Historica as their wanderlust drives them from place to place. However, Avalonian nobles and knights love to hire bards on retainer as part of their households. Patronage of the arts and the ability to entertain important guests are crucial parts of life for the gentry, giving bards higher status in society than your average street minstrel. This lovely bard is sings to the lute, favoring rousing ballads of heroic deeds. Avalonians love to hand out knighthoods, but the problem is there often isn't enough land to go with all the titles. Hedge Knights are landless, traveling warriors who either sell their swords into the service of a noble or tour the various tourneys and jousts that are held all over the land. This Hedge Knight has been at it for many years, and hasn't lost his fire for the melee. The lush forests and wetlands of Avalonia are home to a shocking variety of important plants and animals. Herbalists spend most of their time deep in the wilderness, gathering reagents to sell to healers and alchemists. Herbalism is a common trade in Historica and an important part of the economy, and no one does it better than the Avalonians. This herbalist, average in most respects, would have a grasp of herblore that would trump even a professor at the University of Petraeus. Kaliphin cities often have more nobles around than anybody needs. It has always been common for duels, feuds, and reprisals to thin their numbers but in some cities it's become a great affair of ritual, pomp, and circumstance. Bravos are Kaliphlinite nobles who do very little besides practice swordplay, talk about swordplay, and challenge each other to duels. Glassblowing was long the province of secretive guilds that could command blown glass at incredibly rich prices. In recent decades, the old guild system has broken down and freed the discipline to any who would learn it. This journeyman glassblower traveled with a Lion Tribe caravan his entire childhood before his parents apprenticed him to a glassblower. Now he and his master have taken up residency in Ruadh. The Goldpikes are a famed mercenary group that work exclusively in the beautiful lands of southwestern Kaliphlin. Unlike many such groups, the Goldpikes are exclusively women who hire themselves either individually or in small groups to local lords. The Goldpikes often claim their arms and armor are made of expensive Githril, a testament to the wealth they earn by being so good at their jobs. This Goldpike serves a Kaliphlin ambassador and is therefore required to fly the official Guild colors alongside her company's gold and white. In most parts of Kaliphlin, oil extraction is limited to digging around whatever seeps out of the ground. Many fortuneseekers dig trenches in regions surrounding known oil patches, hoping that their next shovelful of sand will make them rich. This oildigger appears to have gotten lucky, as the black gunk in his shovel and on his hand is indeed the famous Kaliphlin black oil. Long ago, magic ruled most of the lands now belonging to the Nocturnus Guild. Though most of the ancient Magisters, the rulers of that bygone era, have long vanished, a few remain. The only way they can maintain their lives and their power is through truly dark magics, including necromancy and diabolism. Though they are not truly undead themselves, Magisters are often associated with them. Blood is one of the truly unique economic commodities in Nocturnus. Like anything else, however, there are degrees of quality. Sanguinists are the artisans of the Blood Trade. They are the tasters, testers, mixers, and connoisseurs. Many become famous for their tastes and their scathing critiques of lack-luster vintages. Though most Sanguinists are vampires, this woman is not. No one knows whether the white of her skin is glamour, makeup, or her true flesh. She is the Red Lady, a famous Sanguinist that no one knows anything about. This Faelite pikeman serves one of the many petty kings and nobles of his people in their near-constant wars for control of their patch of Nothern Nocturnus. Humans are uncommon in Nocturnus, though the pale-skinned Faelites are well known. A phalanx of Faelite pikemen is a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield. No pikeman fights alone, though they cut just as impressive a figure as when they are viewed in full formation. Those who need unseemly things can often find them in Nocturnus. The trouble is, it also means dealings with unseemly creatures. It is unknown how many of them are out there, scouring the battlefields and boneyards of Nocturnus for their livelihoods. No one knows if there is one or many, and a glut of myths and stories have developed about the Bonegatherer. Even the most frightening denizens of Nocturnus tell their spawn to be wary of the Bonegatherer without ever knowing, truly, why they should be.

Well I've finally started some AoM builds, and this is my Phase I Stables build. I received the white leaves as a Christmas gift and have been wanting to use them for a while. There are giant wolves in Mitgardia, and some have been captured and tamed to become formidable mounts: Any C&C welcome

After a long winter up in the mountains is it time for sir Walvyr to return home with his horse to a well earned rest. But first they need to cross the mountain river. C & C is welcome.

(This was actually my entry for the Modular Madness from my Lug, but I started to late to compete. So I gave it a Medieval twist for the AoM.) After Elon and his grandsons visited the Elves it was time to go home, to Valholl. This was a relief for grandma because she thought it was way to dangerous for the boys to be outside the cities' walls. Not all the Kaddries were captured and Black Spire soldiers were also spotted. So Elon showed Albion and Elijah some parts of the city. In this part of the city he showed were his favorite author lived and the location of a tax office. He also told about the history of the buildings, they weren't always this tall.... Phase 1 Phase 2 Phase 3 Interior tan house: Basement: Unfortunately Valholl isn't free of crime. Here you see a murderer who hides bodies in his basement. By removing the small staircase he could dump the bodies. Ground floor: His wife wasn't aware of what he was doing. First floor: But in the end all criminals get caught, especially when a Chorian is a man of the law! Second floor: Bedroom Interior olive green house: Basement: Food storage Ground floor: Valholl has a rich culture and part of that are writers. First floor: A guest warming up at the fireplace. Second floor: The bedroom and access to the balcony. Interior dark tan house: Ground floor: Every citizen has to pay taxes. At one of the tax offices you are able to pay your share. There's also a special room for storage and planning of the tax transport routes. First floor: Having a drink in the livingroom. Second floor: Time for an afternoon nap!

Finally got a phase two finished Literally took all my grey 1x2 bricks and tiles so going to have to make an order for phase 3 Anyway enough talk, here it is Decided to do a corner wall with a building, its built similar to the last house built slightly shorter. My sigfig hasn't made an appearance in awhile so he decided to see why building the wall is taking so long All C&C welcome May I move to phase 3?

The first sight Elon's showing to his grandsons is Ebronahr, a barrack of the Ebronah. The general already expected them and is welcoming them with a meal. Elijah is eager to fight one of the Ebronah and Albion has made up lots of questions about the strategic location of the barrack. Welcoming Meal Beds Weaponry Overview

Elon is taking his grandsons Elijah and Albion to the main city of the elves. To get there they've crossed the winter lakes. At the archery range Elon got Elven clan capes. Those capes grant him and his grandsons safe passage through the Elven territories. Putting targets on floes makes it a lot more difficult to hit the center. Especially when there's a lot of waves. . Elijah started sparring with an Elf which he drove into the water. Which made him very proud, because now he was able to tell everyone he defeated an Elf. Of course Albion was proud, but he knew the elf did let Elijah win. Elon getting the clan capes.

A while ago, near the Avalonian border... Chaaaaarge!!! The Orc captain orders the charge at the last of the vikings from the Offnir-clan, a clan of vikings who worship the dragon Offnir, last seen hundreds of years ago. The vikings get help from a few local orc-haters. Who will win this battle? To be continued... EDIT: I now see the pics are a bit blurry, sorry about that. When I get home I will take better pics, or at least give it a try.

I haven't posted anything in awhile but I've finally found time I'v had this finished moc sitting in the apartment since christmas, and finally had time to picture it It's basically just a scout of Graystar delivering a letter, so here it is This is my first attempt at a house, I think it turned out well I might use it as a template for my buildings in Graystar. It's also my first attempt at an angled build, All C&C welcome, more pics on my flickr

I apologies for the grainy quality of the pics, it's not usually that bad Here's my take on Phase 2 of Archery One of the training methods employed by the rangers is the ability to track, if you can't track you can't become a ranger . One of their popular methods is to use captured feral orcs and release them into the forest, the two aspiring rangers must then track them down and bring them back alive. My sigfig Edward von Graystar is keeping watch over the training grounds and to report progress back to his Father Had this build sitting for awhile and finally had time to take pics. One of my favourite builds so far, but I don'k think I'll be making a base as long next time, too awkward to take pictures All C&C welcome May I move to Phase 3?

[story note: This follows directly on from An Incident at Unnecessary Bridge] There is a meadow, near the borders of the Elk Clan's lands. Most of the year, this meadow is covered with snow. When the ground begins to warm and life returns to the land, flowers emerge. "Breath of Spring", the Elk clan calls these small white blossoms. This year, the Breath of Spring has come unseasonably early. A man in armor stands near what can only be a hole in the ground. Before him are a horse and rider, and a man in chains. The man in chains once fought alongside these others. Now he is their captive. They force him down a ladder, into the earth beneath the flowers. Beneath the meadow, a power dwells. How long he has been here, no man can tell. But his purpose is becoming clear... The chained man stands before him, full of the knowledge of his own failure. His former comrades stand ready to subdue him. "What say you in answer for your cowardice?" demands the one who holds the ember-red staff. "I'm sorry, Lord Svell-Andskoti! The blacksmith should never have escaped, but he was strong!" the man whines. "Too strong for us!" "And yet you fled!" thunders the lord of this dwelling. "Is your clan not strong? Is the north not a land of might? You shamed your clan and dishonored the power you serve: the Enemy of Ice! Your men will have another opportunity to defeat the servant of Kala-Herra, the Lord of Frost - but you will not be with them. The North is no place for weakness, and the ice does not forgive." He scowls, and points his staff at the unfortunate captive. Its tip glows red like a banked fire. "Your men will learn: Svell-Andskoti does not forgive! If you will not serve well... you will be consumed!" Flames leap from his staff. The captive is engulfed in a horrifying inferno! The guards leap back in terror! When the flames subside, all that remains is a pile of ash, a set of chains... and a beard. A forlorn memorial to a cowardly man, and a terrifying warning to all enemies of this new power in Mitgardia! [Thanks for reading, all! There is more going on than poor Olin the Smith realizes! (Although Sigrd the horse suspects something is up...) I finally went out and bought some foam-board, and I took pictures in daylight with the window wide open. I did have to photoshop in some black space on the left side of the underground photos, because it was bright white. I had to leave the left wall open or there would not have been enough light to take a pic. Everything else is untouched though. This is my first attempt at such a complex build, including multiple levels, mosaics in a wall, and multi-layer bases. I was able to make a border for the top because my local Lego store had 1x2 wood palisades on their brick wall. I made a tower of them and got like 140! Stacking is fun... Anyway, thanks again! C&C are very very welcome. Now to spend some time on an Archery Phase I, and then Stables Phase III!]

Wymond the Fox shifted on the stump as he finished cooking a trout over the coals. “I can’t believe that Avalonian painter tried to adjust the way those elk were holding their heads. I have enough to worry about without needing to save painters from their absurdities.” He inspected the trout and decided it was ready. As he was tearing into the cooked fish, Wymond heard the cracking of twigs and labored breathing. He stamped out his fire. Before Wymond could crawl into his shelter a portly man crashed through the underbrush. “It better snow early this year,” Wymond muttered, “I can’t stand any more painters.” The painter, oblivious to what Wymond was saying, began setting up an easel. Wymond put on his best grimace. The more frightening he looked in the paintings sold in Avalonia, the fewer painters would come looking for him; at least, that was his hope. Wymond's campsite. Cooking fish over the coals. His trusty axe. The lean-to. Since I mainly do photography of nature and cities, I would appreciate suggestions on creating a good backdrop for taking pictures in addition to any other suggestions you have!

Wymond took aim at the target. His winter was not as quiet as he had hoped. For while all of the painters who had disturbed him over the summer had returned home to Avalonia, the painter who had started Wymond's troubles had returned. His paintings of a Mitgardian warrior weren't selling as well in Avalonia because of all the paintings his fellow painters had done of the same subject. So he had journeyed far from his warm home to try and paint Wymond in situations that none of the other painters could rival. The arrow struck the target, causing some more snow to fall off the tree. He was glad the painter had tired of asking him to shoot icicles off the tree. "I've been thinking," the painter said. "I can take you down to the village as soon as I've gathered my arrows," Wymond said. "You must be cold." "That's very kind of you to stop your practice for my sake, but this hood has been doing wonders for me." The painter cinched up the hood tighter around his face. "I've realized what you need to do to get me a unique painting--start an archery school." Wymond was speechless for a few moments. For once he liked the sound of the painter's suggestion. All he had to do was train some people from the nearby village for a little while and then he would be free of the painter. What could possibly go wrong? Wymond takes aim while the painter waits to be struck by inspiration. How I got the snowbank to curve. The snowbank, I feel, could use some work, so I would appreciate suggestions for future snowbank building. It was a pain to get the "arrow" to stick in the target, especially since the tree well was hard to fish it out of when it fell in. This is probably my favorite of the shots I took. This used up almost all of my white bricks and tiles! So it'll have to be deconstructed before I can build anything else involving snow, but I'll hold off on that for a few days unless anyone wants me to take any more pictures. I'm quite pleased with how most of this turned out, especially since it was my first major use of SNOT. To the Avalonians viewing this: I invite you to suggest names for this elven Avalonian painter who has made life interesting for Wymond. I will choose the one I like most. ^^ I'd also like to claim the following University of Petraea credits: Landscape Design: Trees (first of three techniques) Landscape Design: Snow and ice

From the early days of the pioneers to the present day, the rugged trappers and mountain men of Mitgardia stand their ground against the hulking grizzlys of the region. My first MoC officially on Eurobricks, it was only really built because I fell in love with the new Coonskin Cap piece from the Lego Movie CMFs C&C welcome

The walls of Stoneroda. The town had seen better days. It's destruction hadn't dimmed the indomitable Mitgardian spirit though, and the town was being rebuilt as a garrison for Mitgardia's soldiers. The current political unrest between Mitgardia and Kaliphlin reared it's ugly head, with a mounted Mitgardian soldier dragging a chained privateer in the colours of Kaliphlin behind him. Mitgardian soldiers up here have grim countenaces. Further along the walls a famous bearded lady of Mitgardia observes the work of stonemasons as they build the wall that will surround Stoneroda. Inside the town's walls, the atmosphere is cheerier, with the bustle of life in Mitgardia watched over by guards on the walls. A suave Avalonian woos a delighted Mitgardian woman with flowers in his favourite colour: pink! A dwarven weaponsmith works hard to supply Stoneroda's garrison with high quality weapons. In the midst of all of this, Lord Vladivus arrives accompanied by Necromancer Krell. His scouts have recently discovered the demise of Corocus, and has tracked the murderers to Stoneroda, where Vladivus is meeting a famed Mitgardian hunter- Sigvald Kabelsson. Lord Vladivus: "Greetings Sigvald, I trust you have the information I seek?" Sigvald: "I do indeed. It is a sad time, it would appear the Black Spire's reach extends far. I tracked a party of soldiers fleeing Nocturnus through Mitgardia. They passed along the road towards Avalonia. One of them carried a mighty sword that seemed to glow of it's own accord- such witchcraft does not sit well with me. I fear you may find the answers you seek in Avalonia my friend." Vladivus: "You're help has been invaluable." He turns to Krell. "Well, it seems it is to Avalonia that I must travel. Prepare the troops, and have them meet me at my ancestral home. This heresy must end." .................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. So, a freebuild to explain my characters presence in Avalonia when the challenge starts. I went to Mitgardia, as 1) I wanted to build there, and 2) Some of the characters will probably crop up in the Mitgradia challenges, so I wanted to introduce them now. Obviously Stoneroda is kabel's town, so credit goes to him, I hope I've done it justice. I tried to channel some of his building style, without compromising on mine. Tricky. C+C very welcome, this is the biggest MOC I've attempted to date, and whilst I'm pleased with it, I keep coming back to it and fiddling. I'm more used to smaller MOCs! As ever, more pictures on my Flickr. Cheers.

After seeing this wonderful little scene by de Gothia, I decided to try myself in Kaliphlin style. Maybe the similarity between that build and mine is too obvious, although it was not my intention to copy it. But I think I will stick to Mitgardia and the buildings with roofs. Lasvor arrived to Petraea to visit his colleague and friend Mahir in his shop. At the sides of the entrance some typical ingredients for southern medicines signal, what kind of shop that is - the Akhenaten giant fluorescent mosquito is really hard to catch! Disclaimer: I intended to use every brick in an existing color.

One day, about a month ago, I was bored. Very bored. So, long story short, I caught the bug and was soon figbarfing all over the place. Assorted orcs, goblins and trolls. A minor house from Mitgardia. A wandering Nocturnian. Mitgardian highlanders, accompanied by a dwarf and a rare domestic yeti. The lady Carrabarra, of Kaliphlin, and her entourage. And lastly a badly photographed pink knight.
