Black Jade Pavilion This model presents a typical scene in Chinese royal garden. It is based on a corner view of the famous Summer Palace in Beijing, China. There are two buildings in the scene. The single-level one is named Moyu Xuan, and the other one is called Danxia Ge in Chinese, Which means black jade and rosy cloud. The rockeries in the middle of the model along with lotus in the lake, the whole model represents peace and harmony in Chinese culture. Some features: Build on a 32x32 baseplate. All doors and windows can be opened. Flare angles of the cornices are fixed by hinge plates which connected to a 1x4 plate with 2 knobs. they are very stable. All buildings and the tree can be removed easily. moyudanxia01 by ElviN, on Flickr moyudanxia02 by ElviN, on Flickr moyudanxia03 by ElviN, on Flickr moyudanxia04 by ElviN, on Flickr moyudanxia05 by ElviN, on Flickr moyudanxia06 by ElviN, on Flickr For more images and my other creation, please visit my Flickr page: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jxelvin/ C&C are welcome! Some times you have to actually make profit for your company. This week Col. Brik is visiting a vehicle assembly plant at a city on Sorn. If you forget making the money to keep the corp alive you cannot extract revenge. Sorn seems to be a constant location for profit for Kawashita. The production has slowed in recent weeks as all the top executives have focused on the attempted assasination of Raven. Things seem to be running smoothly, scab labor at minimum wage is maximizing profits. End "Yes, this build is in my normal city display, after finishing it a week ago I set it up and didn't want to try and move it out of the spot I put it in."

Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Date: 20 Maian 3815. Experiment Code: M5B03. Lead Scientist: Big Sal. Laboratory: Linopeia III Facility, Materials Lab 5. Aim: Assess local rock sample for precious metals. Excerpt ends. "Well, I suppose I'd better get on with aligning the lasers." "The other lasers are fine, but the connections on this one are a bit loose. However... to fix it I'd have to go borrow a ladder from Sci-X's lab, which would mean actually speaking to Sci-X... I'll just leave it - what's the worst that could happen?" Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Method: Precious metal content will be analysed using newly designed quad-laser quark-gluon spectrometer. Prediction: Analysis will reveal any subatomic impressions of awesomnium, gold, mithril or copper, effectively scanning the whole of Linopeia III with just one sample. Excerpt ends. "Everything's set up - time to fire the lasers!" "Everything seems to be working as expected. Wait, what's that tearing sound?" "Whoops! At least it didn't damage the highly explosive gas canister it fell on..." Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Results: Quark-gluon impression spectra contains distinct awesomnium signature. Conclusions: High probability of extensive awesomnium deposits on Linopeia III. No other precious metals detected. Spectrometer worked perfectly. Safety report: No incidents to report. However, on returning to laboratory after experiment, evidence of large explosion causing extensive damage to laboratory. I suspect Octan or Kawashita sabotage! Excerpt ends. Comments and criticism welcome! Here's the whole build:

Kawashita Engineer's Log - AC - B09 Serium I've arrived on Serium with my construction team shortly after Mister S' and Narbilu's teams arrived. Both teams took differing areas of the planets to scout round to begin with to maximise the amount of the data that can be gathered in the first few hours of arrival. We've landed our construction crew near to where Mister S first landed for now and have begun construction here. This particular small desert island has a decent amount of space for initial construction and is nice and level which will make creating foundations for structures easier. A good choice for centering land based construction, although a number of floating platforms will be required. First things first though, with the large bodies of water and few islands, there's a distinct lack of landmarks to navigate by, so we've begun by assembling a Navigation and Comms Beacon on the sand. The mast is a little bulky looking for what antennas and sensor arrays are currently mounted on the top, but it should be more stable on this surface and will save complete replacement when more arrays are added later. Not sure how well the relay cabinet will cope in this heat. May need more ventilation, but we don't want too much sand getting into the works. It should be okay for a while though.

[K - D04] A Place to Call Home Location: D04, Terrial Minor Tags: Building, Kawashita Okay, had some trouble to get this online (forgive me Bob! ), but now everything is running as it should. This is another build which I thought would be small, but somehow became much, much bigger than I expected. At ~4500 pieces (of which the buildings are around 3500, it's actually one of my biggest builds to date, parts wise (however, there are lots of small parts, since it's a micro-build). I've wanted to build a floating structure for quite some time now, but other ideas came in the way. Then I got some inspiration from Turtle's excellent micro-build last week, and I ended up pursuing that thought. All in all, I'm quite satisfied with the build. However, there were some things I didn't have the time to complete, such as more details in the actual city (more trees, decorations, and possibly a road network), a much more expanded hangar-area (including coming and going ships, a larger "baseplate" for the hangar level, and more details in general), plus the underside, which was supposed to be more "Bespin Cloud City"-esque, where the bottom structure would fold up when going into landing mode. But... I guess it serves me well for not starting earlier... In this case I would actually recommend looking at the unrendered pictures (under the Spoiler-button) since the Bluerender rendering really doesn't do it justice. --//Private Log Begin. Date: 2707(38)15. Scramble code: aiufIIUHnbffka72nFKJf.//-- Except for "Honour and Glory", one of the most recognizable sayings within Kawashita is "Never consider a planet home". While Orinshi is officially the Kawashita Group capital in Andromeda's Gates, there is actually very little activity going on there. This goes hand in hand with another popular saying: "We go where the opportunities are". As a consequence of this, it used to be easy for Kawashita personnel to get a bit "travel sick" from never going "home". The solution proved to be as simple as it was brilliant. Instead of designating a planet "home", Kawashita started bringing "home" with them when moving. As such, floating cities were born. As a result of Awsomnium being an extremely concentrated energy source, it was possible to build cities which were both powered and kept floating thanks to large Awsomnium reactors. The floating cities of Kawashita come in all shapes and form. While bigger military fortifications are generally built on the surface, Kawashita's floating cities is an excellent way to move around civil personnel while still keeping them "home". Depicted above is the Hoshijiro, named after hero who gave up her life in order to save humanity. The Hoshijiro hosts ~50,000 inhabitants and can be easily moved aboard Dreadnaughts, such as the Akena class vessel. The Hoshijiro has two parts; the upper part, which is supposed to feel like any other city, complete with a large park, a monorail system, a hospital and various forms of entertainment, and the bottom part, which hosts aircrafts, land vehicles, research labs and engineering bays, and various other necessities to quickly be able to prospect new planets. While Kawashita hosts an impressive military, which is mentioned again and again, it's often easy that it's the civilian population which provides the means for the company to prosper, and for Kawashita, it's floating cities is a large part of that prosperity. --//Private Log End. Kawashita Engineer's Log - AC - A06 Guinevere There's a lot of activity on Guinevere at the moment due to a conflict of interests between Kawashita and MANTIS, but I've managed to settle down to some work in one of the base areas out of the way of most people. I thought it was hot when I was working on Serium, but the heat here on Guinevere is so much worse due to the volcanic activity. I'm just glad we've got this new air conditioning unit installed on one of the upper floors of the base, although it does appear to have a few teething troubles. One of the monitor lamps is amber showing a potential fault, so I'll have to have run some diagnostics and fix the problem before it lights up red to indicate a critical problem. Just hope it's nothing to do with the intake filters. Don't want to have to go out on the gantry to look at them in this heat if I can help it. Not the greatest photography as usual from me. Additional photos below showing the whole scene. Would have taken more story based photos (and hopefully better quality ones), but took them in a bit of a hurry so that I can quickly post this before I go to bed.

M.A.N.T.I.S Engineering Department Date : 21 Junali 3815 Location : Guinevere - A06 Environment : Arid Desert, Lava Flows Participants : Ninja Nin, SpacerSteve's Intern, Little John Enemy spotted : Commander Turtle, Graham Gidman Log update : I've arrived on Guinevere early this week, but then I heard about the ceasefire rumor from Kawashita. Nevertheless, we M.A.N.T.I.S. are here for the gold, so I should carry out my duty to construct a gold mine, or more appropriate, the M.A.N.T.I.S. Secret Hide-Out. OK, let's begin a guided tour. First of all, a keep out sign, especially for the Octan. A water tower, important in such dry arid desert environment. Let's go inside. A common room for engineers to relax and play cards. SpacerSteve was supposed to be here to guard the gold storage, but he's on Barker's Folly this week, so his intern is sent here instead. Explorer Little John is on the top spot for a better view as usual. Our hide-out is under attack by the Kawashita: Commander Turtle and Graham Gidman are spotted. Little John and the intern will defend the gold at all cost. It is also the time for me to launch M.A.N.T.I.S. Cannon Hovercraft. Complete Setting : The Gold Mine on Guinevere "M.A.N.T.I.S. Secret Hide-Out", a Sci-Fi adaptation from my childhood favourite : 6761 : Bandit's Secret Hide-Out Hope you like it.

[M-B06] Sorn Supply/Science Station 28 Junali 3815 Lady Kianna, Engineer’ Log: Water, water everywhere. I have found a shallow slow moving current of Awesomnium flowing with the mineral rich waters of Sorn. The only land available is sharp small islands (rich with Awesomnium) but very difficult to build on. I have chosen a site above the current to build a platform supply and science/research station. Big Sal arrived as I was finished so I left him to set up his supplies and experiments while I went back to the supply ship for more stock items. One of the perks of this particular job is I get to be the first to test the M.A.N.T.I.S. RHIB 2000. With a large area for supplies and even larger super charged turbo fan engines made to deliver heavy supply loads in a quick amount of time, I returned to the base in time for a shocking sight. Big Sal had his experiments set up and things are……growing quickly….too quickly…I’m not sure I want to know what is in those two tanks on one of the platforms, and why is there a glowing spider sitting atop a vial of something?…… As I unload the supplies, Big Sal waves and heads up the ladder to the roof. I follow and immediately feel concerned……carrots are not supposed to look like that, there is large disturbingly green leafy things and a good portion of the metal I had used on the roof and equipment has turned the color of the Awesomnium (note to self…eat MREs this week even though they really are Made Rarely Edible). I suddenly remember I have forgotten something important back at the resupply ship and take the RHIB 2000 out to deep sea……empty cargo space with full throttle I can at least temporarily forget what I saw and what I will probably have to eat next week……. Hope you enjoyed B06 Sorn. C&C Welcome.

*** Start Log *** Junali 18th, AD 3815 Thesseus B. Von Geekington reporting First scans of the planet Guinevere have been coming in. This planet, which seems to hold the precious metal Gold in it`s crust, registers are barely live sustainable. Arid deserts and fierce, hot lava streams cover it`s entire surface, and scanners are currently investigating if their are native lifeforms present, as we pick up Biomass readings as we... *BIP BIP BIP* Scans completed, and an image is coming through... well I`ll be damned. So that is where those readings originate from.... For the record, I can now report that there is indeed indiginous life present, as we found traces of small settlements littering the desert floors. Further investigation might be advised before starting mining operations. *** End Log *** For the first Challenge in the Andromeda's Gates game, the goal is to recreate just the landscape of a planet. My selected goal, the planet Guinevere, consists of nothing more then arid deserts and lava streams, so I decided to try my hand at microbuilding and make a settlement located somewhere in the large oceans of sand...

Location: A06-Guinevere Tags: Vehicle, Building Job: Driver Start Log: I wasn't surprised to be stationed on A06, after MANTIS' successful infiltration of the planet, I knew that drivers would be needed to help gather gold. Some MANTIS engineers had quickly erected processing plants to separate the gold from rock. My task was to use the T-7 dumptruck to haul loads of gold to transport ships that then delivered it back to MANTIS headquarters. This mission I even had a co-pilot, Massi Editoro, who would man the truck's cannon in case of attack. MANTIS didn't take any chances when hauling gold, even dumptrucks received serious firepower. All in all, a pretty fun job, but the desert heat seemed to mess with my stomach... T-7 Dumptruck: Maintenance rover: The processing plant and dump truck actually work!

Mission 3, Guinevere A-06, Establish a Foothold Col. Brik, operating lab 14-42-39A, Kawashita and Mantis are fighting tooth and nail for control of the planet. So far bloodshed has been little to nothing according to the TPS reports released by the managers. I've set up a outpost near a volcanic region to establish sustainability on this dry, hot mess of a rich rock. If there was no gold on this planet I would pass right by and forget I even saw it. Even though the air is breathable, plant life is little to non-existent. If we secure the area there is no way we should spend money shipping food and water to a planet that has none. My mission, even though I am a pilot, is to get this facility operational. The air is so clean in the bio-dome. I can finally take a deep breath and not choke on lava dust. I have found a process to take lava and process it through a converting chamber to bring out the minerals needed which help the soil be rich in nutrients. Now that I am making some credits I can afford a crew. They are loyal and plentiful, which is good because I hear the red shirt soldier has a high mortality rate. Someone left the air-lock door open again..... Fish are thriving, which means food is available. I know we are climbing the corporate galaxy but we also need to remind ourselves about logistics. Without supplies no army, or company, will survive.

Builded as a joint venture between the civilian and the military branches of Kawashita Corporation, this green house were built on Vollfort as a Botany Laboratory; the planet was an arid desert, with little fauna and flora, perfect to place a Botany Lab with very little interference from the outside environment. Engineer Alexander Vandangant was tasked to build the compound and, in a matter of days and hard works, he builded one of the most advanced greenhouses of the galaxy with all the needed to conduct any type of reaserach around the fauna world, like adavanced laboratory and cold storages. Now the head scientist, is giving him a tour of the compound in fully operative, with people working and studying the flora. = = = = = = = = = Here we are! I finally finished this build; it took me a while, first it started as a zero-G greenhouse to be used on space stations, but then, finding some technical and style issues, I changed completely idea going for a planet-type building. I really like the outcome and I hope you Enjoy it!

Communications / Supply Station Linopeia III [M-B03] Lady Kianna, Engineer 30 Maian 3185 Engineer’s Log: Hot today, dry, no signs of man eating yellow or brown frogs. Finished installation of the forward Communication and Supply Station. All systems are working perfectly. Installed the security perimeter towers in six locations around the site. Supplies fully stocked, one Orbit Bar noted as missing. Galactic Juice, Hydrolyzed Water, Corporate Coffee, full stocked. Energy generators and power rods, stocked. Will need to send special report to HQ; pure Awesomnium detected by accident when drilling for support poles for the station. Containment rings placed around two wells, bubbling with Awesomnium. Moved location of supports, station is stable. Side Notes: The Awesomnium seems to be located under sage like plants with bright red flowers. As the lakes recede and the ground drys there seem to be no signs of the frogs, they must need the wet sandy soil. As I was leaving I noticed a third Awesomniun spring bubbling up under a sage plant near the front of the station. That brings the total number of wells to three. This is a superb site for drilling. I will send a full report upon return, calling for pick-up from site now. Lady Kianna ending log report. Front view Ramp down front view. Interior view. Side view, new Awesomnium spring. C&C Welcome. Hope you enjoyed it!

Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Date: 27 Maian 3815. Experiment Code: X2B03. Lead Scientist: Big Sal. Laboratory: Linopeia III Facility, Xenobiology Lab 2. Aim: Investigate local wildlife for useful properties. Excerpt ends. "Johnson, stop messing around with my awesomnium! That's the first batch from Ninja Nin's drilling machine, and I need to store it here because my materials lab is still being repaired." "Fine, fine. Wait, Sal, isn't that one of the man eating yellow frogs that nearly killed Lady K's team??" "Calm down, it's sedated. I've run all the usual tests and there's nothing interesting. Just extreme aggression, virulent toxins and regenerative abilities." "Those sound pretty interesting to me Sal!" "That's why I'm the lead scientist, and you're not. Now, let's inject it with some of my new awesomnium extract." "Uh, that doesn't sound very safe. Especially since the combination of the extract and the regener-" "Damn it Johnson, show some backbone for once! Science isn't about being safe!" Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Method: Despite my objections on safety grounds, Johnson insists that we try injecting the new awesomnium extract into the predatory yellow amphibians discovered by Lady Kianna. Prediction: The serum may react in an unpredictable manner with the creature's regenerative abilities. Excerpt ends. "Nothing's happening Sal. Let's just forget this ever happened and... WHAT THE F???!!!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" Excerpt from the lab book of Big Sal: Results: Awesomnium extract caused extreme growth in the creature and negated the effects of the sedative. The creature was driven away by laser pistol blasts but appeared to suffer no significant injury. Its resilience may therefore also have been enhanced by the awesomnium extract. Conclusions: A combination of the awesomnium extract and a serum from the creatures could lead to powerful combat drugs for our special forces. Extreme care will be necessary. Safety Report: Johnson's reckless approach to science, despite my warnings, led directly to his death and the destruction of the laboratory by the enhanced creature. Were it not for my heroics in driving the creature away, dozens more lives may have been lost. Is there a chance Johnson was an Octan or Kawashita agent trying to sabotage our research? Excerpt ends. I had a lot of fun with this one! Comments and criticism welcome. Here's the whole build: (Ok, so I forgot to take a photo before the lab was destroyed )

Okay, I might've overdone it a little this week. The build consists of 2331 pieces and should be legal/stable (I've actually added a couple of "bearing pillars" behind the scenes, so it would make sense in real life. This is a continuation of Commander/Agent Beltar's build from earlier this week (which can be found here: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=109963), and it's actually implemented (almost in its entirety) in this one). I hope you like it! Tags: Building, Mining, Space, Kawashita, Engineer, Structure --//Transmission Begin. Date: 3105(38)15. Scramble code: kliuJHBGaow8a3rllvmMma.//-- Q's log: The Hamilton Belt Mining, 31 Maian 3815 I arrived at the asteriod which Agent Beltar discovered last week on D10, The Hamilton Belt. As Mister S noted, it is quite peculiar to find liquid Awsomnium on an asteroid like this. However, I do have a theory to why this is the case here. After doing some readings, I found that the whole asteroid is highly ferrous (Note to self: After Awsomnium mining is finished, consider asteroid for metal mining). Due to the high frequency, rotation of the asteriod, this result in creating a highly erratic magnetic field. Now, if the once solid Awsomnium deposits of the asteriod suddenly became liquid, such as through a high energy Gamma burst from a nearby star, the quickly shifting magnetic would probably be enough to infuse the Awsomnium with enough energy for it to stay liquid. Hmmm... The magnetic field would actually also explain Beltar's difficulty in reaching HQ, as it would scramble most of his transmissions. Very impressive of his robot, PauL, to withstand such a field... In all honesty, it almost seems like PauL has been able to withstand... *ehm*... "scrambling"... better than his owner. When we arrived, Beltar started shouting... actually, it's probably better if I include the actual recording: Q's log: Arrival at The Hamilton Belt, 29 Maian 2815. Audio recording. Beltar: "ARE YOU HERE? REALLY? OR ARE you just in my mind? Like the others?" Q: "I can assure you Agent, me and my crew is really here, and we're here to extract the deposits you found." B: "OH, YES! There's so much Awsomnium, you should really see it! Okay, bye." Q: "Yes, we will, that's why we're here... wait, are you going? Where? B: "Can't talk, must get off this rock. Been here 2 weeks. Bye. PauL, let's go!" PauL: "Yes sir." Recording end. Seriously, that guy hasn't had any real contacts with humans in weeks, he has this conversation, and then 10 minutes later, he is off? I hope he turns out okay, especially considering that he left most of his resources here. Also... what's up with his skin tone? Anyway, back to the matter at hand... The mining is going well, despite there being some... interesting abnormalities as a result of finding liquid Awsomnium on such a small asteroid. First of all there is the gravity. The Awsomnium doesn't stream and fall as much as just... floating in different directions. However, the effect is not as noticable as one might think - I estimate that the Awsomnium is still "falling" at a pace around 1/5 of Terra's gravity - once again a result of the asteroid's magnetic fields. Still, there is something oddly soothing about watching those slow-falling purple "water falls". In order to pump up the Awsomnium in the most efficient way, I've invented a pump type which I call "The Sweeper". Essentially, what it does is have a number of autonomous, semi-intelligent "arms", which home in on fast flowing Awsomnium currents, leading them to the "final resting place", and when that is swept up, back to the original well. At the moment, Awsomnium seems to be flowing from the core faster than we are able to sweep it up (again, the magnetic fields), but I have my crew out, making adjustments, in order to bolster the Sweeper's efficiency. There also seem to be some durability issues with the pipes due to the extremely high energy density of floating Awsomnium. Still, it's not outside the expected range. I expect that, when running at full capacity, we should be able to extract all Awsomnium from the asteroid within 2-3 weeks, generating 25-30 standard size tanks, which should be able to power our fleet for at least a couple of weeks.
