    Purist Superhero Figures

Hey autorazr, long time no "see". I also love that Granny, Numbuh1Nerd. The Fourth World from Kirby has always been some of my favorite comic art. I did a bunch of the characters awhile back...like 5 years ago. I think they are somewhere around pg 20 in this thread, haha. So many better parts are out now, though, I have thought of revisiting them. Good to see you guys are still so active here.

I am having some trouble posting from Imgur...can't find how to resize my image on this site, after dragging. I feel like it used to be easy. It's probably my own incompetence, haha. Anyway, hope you enjoy this shot of Clint (aka, Hawkguy) and his buds, Logan, Pete, Matt, Tony and Steve. Don't mind Tony's odd skin complexion. This is an 80s rendition, so he may have some...well, liver issues.

Here is a Ka-Zar with the new Batman pants on. Maybe not the best pants, with the print, but I thought the boots made it worthwhile (now I need to brick build a Sebu, which I know I've seen in this thread, years ago):

Hey Big Red Cheese, that "psycho gangster" head is great for the Toyman...thanks for the suggestion.

Review - 70904 Clayface Splat Attack

Noce review...strange set to start with! This is actually my favorite set in the movie line, because it is so unique. I wish Clayface had a few more expressions but it was a fun build and looks great on my shelf.

Here is an obscure one I worked on over the weekend for my 4th World collection...I'd like a better hairpiece but for now, this'll do. Virmin Vunderbar:

Great build and a very creative idea. I wonder if a Fortress of Solitude or a Hall of Justice is around the corner??

Been awhile. I think it was around page 25 that I last contributed to this most excellent thread. Big ups to all those who've kept it going over the years. Anyway, here are some attempts at making a Toyman: My BtAS version: A "creative" version, using some movie parts:

Marvel Superheroes 2016 Rumors And Discussion

Seriously, I think the Silver Centurion is the new gold standard for printing...so dang good. And an expression with a black eye? My lord, this may be my favorite minifig yet.

    Marvel Super Heroes General Discussion

I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong place (seems to be a big issue at Eurobricks), but I was just wondering if anyone else finds the Silver Centurion minifig in the new Avengers game to be the sexiest minifig of all time? The arm printing, leg printing (even on the sides!), the black eye...such a quality figure. Props to the designer and thanks to TLG for making him available!

    LEGO Dimensions Discussion

I do like puzzles...and the humor in LEGO games is pretty top notch. I didn't think I'd ever be interested in this game but the various packs I recently bought has sparked a bit of curiosity.

    LEGO Dimensions Discussion

I was wondering this too. I got the new Dr Who set at Target, half off...thsn, walked over to Game Stop to scoop LEGO Avengers game and noticed everything was half off there, too. I've only recently picked up some LD sets, only for the minifigs and mini builds, so the whole half off thing made me wonder if this line is doing well? Also, I am both LEGO and video game fan. The games I usually play are more mature, in theme but I do enjoy some of the LEGO games. How do you guys rate LEGO Dimensions? Would an adult enjoy it? Is there any action to be had? Sorry to ask questions, but a few YouTube vids didn't really explain much for me.

    Purist Superhero Figures

Well hello, everyone. It's been a dog's age since I've stopped by this thread. Let's just say life took me on a bit of an adventure and it's been awhile...my contributions to this sweet place are waaay back between pages 16ish and somewhere in the 20s (haven't scrolled that far back yet). I bought a few sets today, my first in over a year and just had to come check out the Purist super hero activity. Anyway, it's great to see this work still going strong. Shout outs to autorazr in particular. You are a freaking machine, man! Thanks to the all the new stuff I've seen...well, new to me, anyway, I've already gone ahead and placed a few BrickLink orders. Great inspiration, folks!

^Someone was excited for those Simpson's parts, lol. Looking forward to seeing how you use those sweet, new "t-shirt" arms. Seriously, nice job, all around. That Infinity Guantlet is off the chain!
  19. I've recently delved into some "off-brands". I am a pretty big Call of Duty fan and for my bday, my bro picked me up a couple sets, including the awesome Dome Battleground. I was very impressed by the quality, considering all the horror stories I've read about knock-offs. It wasn't as good as LEGO, of course, but nothing bad either. Colors were good, the pieces held togehter well, etc. The Dome set is a great likeness for the place I loved in the game and figures are super playable, with full poseability. I love how one can add attachments for the weapons too, very similar to the game. So, my interest was piqued. I'd always looked at the Kre-o brands liscenses, like Transformers and especially GI Joe. TRU had a 30% off sale on Kre-o so after work one Friday, I bought a coule GI Joe sets. I had such a nostalgic, great time with these builds. By the end of the weekend, I'd picked up the whole line (had to ebay the first wave's blind bags though) and scooped some TF stuff too. Here are some general thoughts on the Kre-o product: -Quality is fine, imo...again, not as great as LEGO but just a notch below. -Kreons are fun. Their look has grown on me quite a bit. I love the printing (some paint mishaps, though...they need to clean that up) and the poseability. The accessories are fun too and whoever is designing them have included some really cool details, like grape soda for the Drednok. They also have very nostalgic accessories, for the adult fans. It's nice to be considered by the company. -No moral hangups on theme here...LEGO doesn't want you or your children playing with war toys? Well, these other companies don't mind. I am happy for that. -Great selection of characters from excellent themes...Ever dreamt of LEGO doing a CMF line of your favorite license? Well, I have. TF and the Joes are getting exactly the treatment I wish LEGO would give to super heros, SW, etc. At two blind bag waves per year as an average, we are getting 24 characters, per theme. How awesome is that?!? -Great customizing options, just like LEGO. I have used pieces from the Battleship line (on discount everywhere now), the Cityville line, the TF humans, some extra Joes and even some LEGO parts to create a good number of characters. I am not a "purist". I do whatever it takes to achieve a look. I am a "purist" for the work, in that regard. If this makes me a bad person, I can live with it. :) So yeah, I like some of these "knock-off" brands and will be enjoying them. I will, of course, continue to buy LEGO products but I would be lying if I didn't admit to some frustrations with how and what they release as product. Now, I have options and that makes for a happy consumer and a happy market, since it is competition which truly drives creativity, imo.

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

Are you implying that those who purchase customs are not supporters of LEGO? If so, I would disagree with you. I've spent $1,000s in the past 2yrs on official TLG product but have realized that LEGO will most likely never make many of the Marvel and DC characters I love. Even if they do, why wait for years when I can have them now and replace them with official product later, if/when it ever comes out? It's fine to decide to be 'purist' (I personally hate the connotation of the term, 'purist', but that is a whole other topic), but it imo, it does not make a person more supportive of LEGO, by any means, whatsoever.

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

I love customes. I do my own purists and would love to buy from a reputable seller like Christo and the like. I am completely sick of waiting for Marvel, Disney and TLG to get me the minifigs I want. They move at a snail's pace and rehash too much. That said, I would not support a "company" that rips off designs from other small guys.
  22. The glow on the rightmost Ironman's torso is amazeballs. Great work.
  23. I could get into this project, having been a fan of the show for awhile now... I like this torso for Kaylee: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=col097 And I think this, or something like it, would make a great start for Inara: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=tlm037 I have some other ideas, but I'm late for work right now!!
