Hopefully that Jedi Council set is a battle pack similar to the Bounty Hunter one from this year (four named characters in one set). It's good to see LEGO doing more battle packs like this if it is.

Interesting... it looks like the same print as Old Ben, just different colors. But I still think it works very well.
  3. I might have gone with Vader, but he's pretty similar to the one released the year before. He's still a fantastic figure, but the Death Trooper is something brand new that we've never gotten before. So I'll go with the Death Trooper.

I agree with what a lot of other people have said; Nya looks to be the best. I think she might even be better than any of her previous versions. I like her new hairpiece better than her old one. Jay looks pretty good too. I'm a little iffy on the rest, but I think they'll grow on me. Zane is kind of creepy looking though.

Since we don't know what the retail exclusive is yet, maybe it could be this supposed Cloud City set. The retail exclusive summer set is usually $90 (last year it was $110), so that could make for a decently sized Cloud City set. As for the rest of the sets, my favorites are the Republic Fighter Tank, Rathtar Escape, and the Bounty Hunter Battle Pack. I'm really impressed that they included three of those new Guavian Death Gang Members in the Rathtar set. They look great with the molded heads and I'm excited to see the final figures. Hopefully the Rathtars will be removable too.

I'm still curious about some of the unknown figures in the Freemaker sets. Maybe Zuckuss could be in one of those? Even if he's not in this wave, I'm still really happy that we're getting a battle pack with all named characters. Hopefully this becomes a continuing trend for the future.
  7. 5. Vader's TIE Advanced vs. A-Wing - Getting two ships in one set is great, and the TIE and A-Wing are done really well and pack a lot of parts into them despite being so small. The only part about the set that off sets me is the price. I feel like two ships being in the same set was just an excuse to up the price from what a set of that size actually would have been. At that price, at least another minifigure would have been good. But it's still a beautifully designed set, and I'm willing to overlook the price a bit and put it at number 5. 4. Clone Turbo Tank - It feels strange to put this so high up on the list since I didn't like it when I first saw it. But after buying it and building it, I really like its compact size. I've never really been bothered when LEGO downsizes vehicles compared to their previous iterations. Despite this being the smallest Turbo Tank yet, I think it's the best looking on the exterior. The only real problem I have with it is that it needs room to carry troops in the middle, but I understand that that section had to be dedicated to technic parts. Getting Luminara and Quinlan Vos with non Clone Wars prints was also great. 3. Resistance X-Wing Fighter - Even though it's just a recolor of Poe's X-Wing, it's still a great build. And I think the grey and blue works a bit better than the black and orange. It's just a really good looking set from any angle. 2. Rebel U-Wing Fighter - It's a large, well designed ship, it's got good play features, and it has lots of great minifigures. The wingspan with the wings out is really impressive, and I also like how the spring loaded shooters were integrated in. Getting the two main characters of Rogue One (Jyn and Cassian) and getting several other figures also makes it pretty much a necessity for people collecting Rogue One sets. 1. Krennic's Imperial Shuttle - Like many other people, I love this set. It's pretty much a good version of Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle. The interior space in it took me by surprise (in a good way), because I was only expecting the top cockpit to be accessible. The fact that you can seat Krennic and his Death Troopers is great. And like the U-Wing, Krennic's Shuttle has a really impressive wingspan when the wings are folded out. The minifigure selection in this set is also fantastic, and I like that it's split 50/50 with Rebels and Imperials. I don't think 2016 was the best year for LEGO Star Wars, but it was still pretty solid overall. I think the disappointments (like peoples' problems with the UCS sets) overshadowed some of the really good stuff we got. Overall, I think the Rogue One sets really redeemed 2016 and made it a good year for the Star Wars theme. All five of them look good, have great minifigures, and are decently priced (the TIE Striker might be about $10 too much, but it's close enough).

The Republic Fighter Tank looks like the best of the bunch so far; it's always great to get more Prequel Jedi with normal eyes. The Arrowhead actually looks like an interesting design, but since it's a Freemaker set, I'm not really interested in it. Hopefully we'll see the other sets soon!

Maybe the Bounty Hunter Battle Pack should be classified as a "Character Pack" instead. If it really does come with named characters, hopefully LEGO will start to do this more often in the future.

I never noticed this before, but I think it's awesome how the steering wheel and stick shift on the Tail Gator extend to the back for Killer Croc to drive. The set definitely appeals to me, but $70 is pretty hard to swallow. Hopefully it won't be long before it goes down to $60 or even $50.

Qui-Gon's new alternate head is awesome. I guess that's as close as we'll get to the x-eyed face he had in the first LEGO Star Wars game.

Woah... that came out of nowhere! Funny how everyone speculated that Lando would be in an A-Wing set, but then we heard he'd be in the Rebel Hangar. I guess it was an A-Wing after all (but does the Rebel Hangar still exist?). Lando looks great and it's really nice to finally get him again, too!

Actually, that's Snap Wexley's head from the Micro Fighter Resistance X-Wing. It's still nice to get that head again as it's a good print. And like you said, there's a decent amount of variety with the figures. I really love that small speeder too, so it'll definitely be a battle pack to get multiples of.

At the very least, the price for the Killer Croc set is not unprecedented. The Rancor Pit from the Star Wars line has about 100 pieces less than the Croc set and costs $10 less. And Croc's pretty close to the Rancor's size, so it makes sense that this set would be priced similarly.

So, considering we'll likely get a burned Anakin in the Vader Transformation set, how do you think the figure will be done? Will it inaccurately be a full minifigure like the last two times? Or do you think LEGO might design a new specialized piece for his torso? I know that might be a bit gruesome for a minifigure, but it'd be pretty cool and would finally give us an accurate burned Anakin.
