    LDD 4.3.6 bugs

Not sure if it's classed as a bug, but I just noticed that part 93225 (utensil spray gun) has no flexibility at all to the "hose" part.
  2. Apologies if this is in the wrong forum section... since I'm pretty "new" to current Lego fandom online, is there any place one can find scanned sticker sheets for Lego sets? As in, good enough quality to print and use? In particular, I'm after the sheets from the Alien Conquest series (now discontinued). I was thinking of scanning my own "spares", but didn't want to spend the time if someone had already done the work. I've been wanting to make new stickers for some of the ADU vehicles (Interceptor, Jet-Copter, etc), changing the numbers and markings on some of them, but need the images to edit before printing. Is there somewhere obvious I need to go look, or are sticker scans not very common? I could only find very old set scans in my brief searches online.

    2013 Galaxy Squad

Heh! I personally have fond memories of the Classic Space minifigs from childhood, remembering both the "full colour" (crash helmet) figs and the "white with a diagonal zipper" guys. I suppose it says something to my comment that my favourite Lego figures as a kid (and my "army builders") were the all-black-with-white-harness (Blacktron?) guys, as I liked having my "space marines" matching. Plus, those black visors were just cool...:) I actually don't dislike the idea of using colours to specify "techs", "medics", "gunners", etc. (it's actually quite a cool idea), though I think it works better in a more exploration-based theme than one that's combat-focused ("squash those bugs!") like Galaxy Squad. Here, I would have rather seen it done more subtly, say with matching Galaxy Patrol armour over coloured torsos, with all matching legs and helmets. OCD, I know! :) Did I mention that I really like that Galaxy Patrol minifig? :) The colour-coded vehicles are rather odd, though clearly a kid-friendly design choice rather than one for "big kids" like me. Everyone having their vehicles team-coloured seems rather "Voltron" to me; it makes them more like individual characters with specific mecha (Lance Firespeed in his 'Bug Zapper') than an organized force of troopers from the same army/planet/race, divided by service branches. I find it hard to see the difference between some of these vehicles that makes them, for example, "blue team only". That said, some of these vehicle designs on both sides here are amazing, and I love the big bug Stinger! However, I am excited about the next wave even more, as it seems to have more "brick built bugs" rather than bug-shaped-ships. Starship Troopers Lego! Who'd have thought? As a side-note, I smiled at the "we were not allowed to make war" quote... as a kid, I always kinda wanted "guns" for my Lego toys... now we have Star Wars and zombies and gangsters with tommy guns and stuff like Alien Conquest and Galaxy Squad! (apologies for rambling, getting back into Lego again is proving quite nostalgic!)

    Alien Conquest Walker

That looks great! Add a couple of claw-arms and I'd say it could be an "official" AC set (minus the gore, of course ;) ). I'd love to see "instructions" to build this... it deserves a permanent place in us AC lovers forces, IMO! I'm personally a huge AC fan (it got me back into Lego again since childhood), and have been surprised how much it's inspired me to start fiddling around making my own ideas to fit the "theme" too. EDIT: just realised (duh!) that this is a mod of the new TMNT Lego (talk about a childhood flashback!). I am so buying that Krang set to make this tomorrow! :) EDIT 2: how on earth did you get the Alien Pilot to fit in there? I'd love to see how you modded the cockpit interior... and is that a small trans fl. green dish on the underside?

    Some of my ADU Forces

Wow, these are fantastic! I ADORE the little "Maggie" unit, too! Any chance of an LDD or instructions to build one ourselves? Alien Conquest got me back into Lego again too, and I'm sad it didn't last even one more "wave". I've done a ton of scratch-built stuff for it in LDD and "real life" and never thought to post them publicly before! I don't know what it it about the theme that inspired me, but I've had a blast coming up with new models that keep the same aesthetic/design schemes of the Aliens and ADU. Cool to see more love for the ADU mobile HQ too... it was my favourite set of the line (I bought far too many of them as the line ended!) and I've been toiling away at my own modified "modular" version for a couple of weeks. Just thinking of trying Bricklink for the first time (!) to get some missing parts...

    2013 Galaxy Squad

Just got my five ordered sets (from Shop For Me) and loving these! The insectoid ship designs are especially neat (shades of the TV show LEXX in some designs) and I love the new robot/insectoid minifig heads. The upcoming 2nd wave sets look even better, too, IMO; as cool as the insectoid minifigs are, I prefer the idea of brick-built larger "bugs" as the bad guys for this theme. My only "negatives"? I really wish they'd used the Galaxy Patrol minfig or a variant of for the "good guys" here, and kept all the humans/robots the same colour scheme instead of "red team, orange team" etc. Makes them look way too random as a single "force", IMO. A question for fellow Aussies: is the Star Slicer (70703) available over here anywhere? I can't find it in any stores, online or on Lego's Australian site... though admittedly, Shop For Me is the only place aside from Lego.com.au I've seen this theme for sale at all for this country.

    LDD 4.3.6 bugs

Which is especially a problem since there's a set that explicitly uses that piece in that way! :) I'm sure there are others, too, but I don't own any modern Lego train sets, so I can only confirm the Alien Conquest one. Thanks for the info. A shame it's such a tiny limitation; I can understand the reasoning, but it makes it pretty much useless unless you delete attachments after posting (and as you said, that's not very helpful to others).

    LDD 4.3.6 bugs

Thanks for confirming, Sjuip! Thought there might have been a brick update I've not received for a moment there! See attached image for what Sjuip and I are talking about. I only have real 85976 on hand to check that this isn't the case IRL, but I'm assuming if that part has underside connections, the other track pieces should too? I can definitely confirm that set 7065 can't be built in LDD due to the lack of connection underneath 85976. :( (an aside... why can I only attach tiny files to this post, when I could attach larger ones yesterday?) EDIT: images deleted due to forum attachment limitation

    LDD 4.3.6 bugs

Just encountered another "can't do it in LDD but can do it in reality" bug, while trying to make Heroica's "Fortaan" set (3860). When making the fireplace in the castle kitchen piece, you are supposed to be able to place 87087 (brick 1x1 w/knob) beside 2412 (radiator grille), with the right-angle knob/hole facing the grate, then insert 64647 (feather) into the knob/hole to simulate the "fire" over the grate. This works fine physically, for real, but in LDD you cannot insert the feather ("fire") into the knob because it collides with the grate next to it, even though it *should* be just low enough to the to allow this. Hopefully the attached images from the Fortaan instructions make this tricky-to-explain issue clearer. I've also attached an lxf of the piece fully constructed, but with 64647 "angled" to fit the hole. Play with it and you'll see with the "fire" pointing straight up (as it is in the instructions and real model), it refuses to insert, due to the proximity of the grate below. I'm not sure if this can be fixed, but hopefully it can! EDIT: images and lxf deleted due to forum attachment limitation.

    LDD 4.3.6 bugs

After more testing today, I can confirm this bug still exists. Hopefully it will be fixed next update!

    LDD 4.3.6 bugs

(returning to LDD after a long absence!) Is the railway track bug not fixed? I remember several people mentioning it a few versions ago, but I updated to LDD 4.3.6 today and noticed that I still can't get pieces to join to the underside of railway tracks (part #85976, for example). To see this technique in "real" action, Alien Conquest set 7065 is a great example, so it should be possible in LDD, right?

    LDD 4.3.5 bugs

Yes... and that's exactly what I do! :) Quite handy, and makes a lot of sense for giving us basically "two interfaces" in that Extended = "all parts, paint yourself" and standard LDD = "parts only in released colours" (in theory, anyway). I like having the choice. However, it confuses me why some parts are only in Extended mode... it's not like they put just the complex ones (electrics, etc) in there, either. At first I wondered if newly added parts go in Extended first, as a kind of "beta" testing stage for them? What defines a part as "Extended only"?
  13. Glad my work came in useful. I'm a HUGE Alien Conquest fan, and the glorious Alien Commander was the reason I worked on all that! :) I just downloaded your updated version and noticed his gun still needs switching to "Metallic Silver" colour, though? It's just a shame we still can't finish the Mothership right thanks to that train track part bug, eh? :( I've updated all the other Alien Conquest sets done by P4trickvH and sent a PM (best I could make out from the "rules" at the start of the topic regarding altering existing LDD files) to see if he'd be updating his old versions or if I should upload my "fixed" ones.

    LDD 4.3.5 bugs

Thanks for the info! I'll admit that I'd much rather see Extended-only parts (like "Alien Mask" and the LED light brick) appear in regular LDD mode than worry about limited LDD-mode colours... but like you said, when you use certain themes or pieces a lot, you really "notice" missing colours (e.g. for me, that four-knob brick from Battle of Hoth, or something like the Spacegun not being available in black, because I'm a huge fan of the Galactic Patrol Minifig).
  15. Thanks to Superkalle, I knew that despite LDD's "one neck accessory only" restriction, multiple items COULD be added by "cheating" (using scaffolding, etc.), but could I find out exactly HOW on the forums? Nope! So, rather than beg for help again, I spent last night figuring it out myself, aided only by a few clues here and a picture of a suggested "scaffolding". To avoid anyone else having to go through the same trial and error as I did (and to "give something back" to this forum, since I'm new here), I documented my efforts and the result here: Click for my Brickshelf folder containing text and image guide, and sample lxf files I did this to create the Alien Conquest "Alien Commander" minifigure, but the same procedure would likely work for any minifig requiring multiple "neck accessories", such as LOTR Gandalf (beard+cape) or Imperial Soldiers (epaulets+backpack) from the old Pirates theme, with a bit of tweaking. I've also uploaded some completed "head/neck/accessory assemblies" (templates) for people to download and use as-is (and avoid having to do all the steps) below: Click for my Brickshelf folder containing over 35 lxf "neck assembly" pieces This includes templates that will allow you to build LOTR Galdalf (beard+mantle) and Imperial Soldiers (epaulets+backpack), as well as a dodgy-but-workable assembly combining an Air Tank with an Insectoid Helmet, for use until the LDD collision bug for those parts is patched. Anyway, I hope this is okay to post (and okay to post in this format, as a link), and I really hope this proves useful info to somebody! My images/explanations are probably not the best, but hopefully they make enough sense to help someone attempting this to figure it out too. All in all, a fun learning experience going "outside the box" with LDD!
  16. Love the look of this assembly... but is the link broken for everyone else, too? :(
  17. Is the folder accessible now (or do I need to 'set' something... first time using Brickshelf!)? I don't mind the size limit, it's only that LDD outputs bigger than 800px so a pain to resize them each time! :) There's a txt file in the folder that goes with the pics, incidentally, if anyone missed it, along with a few "finished assembly" lxf files too.

    LDD 4.3.5 bugs

Not a "bug", but didn't know where else to post this... part 52107 isn't available in "standard" mode in 'medium stone grey', but it *should* be (I own a dozen of them personally, from 3866 Star Wars Battle of Hoth boardgame). Can definitely reconfirm the 85976 bug too; nowhere to attach pieces to the track undersides!
  19. I've fixed all the Alien Conquest sets (best as can be done right now) that were posted by another user a while back here (updating them with the parts that were obviously missing when they made them). What's the proceedure for posting such a thing? They're not MOCs but the original builder still did the initial work and I'd at least want to acknowledge when reposting the fixed versions of sets.
  20. My pleasure. As I said, I hope it helps someone else! I'll see if I can do a "post" version sometime later next week when I have the spare time (though I seem to think I saw somewhere that this forum has a significant "image size" rule, doesn't it?)

    LDD 4.3.5 bugs

I noticed these last version (the "two neck accessories" thing is - as discussed - likely a design decision rather than a bug, though I'd love to see it "fixed" at some point). The railway track issue (part 85976) was the most notable one for me, since it makes accurately building set 7065 ("Alien Mothership") impossible; bricks and plates won't attach to the underside of the 85976 track pieces.

    LDD 4.2.5 Bugs

I know this is an old post, but I would LOVE to know how you did this, exactly! Your Imperial Guard looks great, and I've been unable to replicate the Aline Commander (from set 7065) the same way (I don't mind leaving out his cape, just need the epaulettes and 'mask' piece to join right!).

    LDD 4.3.5 bugs

Thanks heaps for that! Such an annoying bug, squashed so quickly! I was mostly curious about the multiple "neck accessories" for things like mask/beard and cape combos... set 9469 has a beard+cape mix like this (Gandalf), for example, while set 7065 has THREE neck accessories on one awesome minifig (alien 'mask'+epaulettes+cape)! :D Will try and find the 'workaround' you mentioned here in the meantime!

    LDD 4.3.5 bugs

Cool! Thanks for that... so I don't need to report it to Lego now? They're "on the case", hopefully? Fingers crossed for a little patch soon, cos it's driving me nuts! :( EDIT: Literally a minute after I posed this, I opened LDD and got a "0.00mb" update... that seems to have FIXED this! Woohoo! Talk about awesome!!! :D One other thing I just noticed... not sure if it's a bug or a "feature" (program limitation), but I seem to be able to get only one "neck accessory" to attach to a minifig. Say, if you want to attach both 95201 and 2526 on the same figure... no go! :(
