    Dungeons and Dragons

My gaming group has done that too as well as using minifigs for the monsters. For the most part as long as you have plenty of bodies and accessories they are quite easy to custom up and you don't have to paint them like traditional metal or resin minis. You can also brick build larger monsters. My roommate at the time built a Dragon and pulled it out at one game and then said "Don't worry, it's just a model.............to scale". Fun times.

I don't see a D & D line and a traditional Castle line as being the same thing. To me D & D isn't the same as Lego's past traditional Castle themes. Past traditional Castle themes have been factions against each other with various sizes builds to go along with it. To me a D & D line would more be a group of Heroes against various villains and monsters as they explore different locations (kind of like the Minecraft sets). Hopefully Lego will come back around to making a traditional Castle line with factions and such. D & D however is something they will probably never get to do (and may not pick up even if they could) so why not build it yourself and make it as big or small as you want to.

This may be a silly question, but why not create your own custom D & D minifigs and sets? With all of the minifig parts out there from previous Castle lines, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Chima, Ninjago, Atlantis, The Collectable Minifigures, Elves and even Nexo Knights it shouldn't be too hard to make some unique Human, Elf and Dwarf adventurers not to mention tons of Orcs, Goblins, Skeletons, Ghost, Vampires, Banshees, Demons, Dragons, generic human bad guys, etc. If you need parts checkout Bricklink. Some of the Elves builds would make for good buildings with some color changes and expansions and you can download the instructions from the Lego site to help get you started. No need to lament Lego not officially getting this theme when it should be pretty easy to make your own.

There was a computer game several years ago that was a real time strategy game pitting Vikings against Egyptians against Greeks. Besides just the armies you could also "build" some of their Mythological characters. I don't remember the name of the game but it would be interesting to see a Lego theme like that.

    Heroica RPG General Discussion

I imagine it would play like it does in the forums...just faster since all your players would be there at the time so you don't have to wait for them to log in to reply. I've recommended the rules to friends who were looking for a rule system to start their kids off on RPGs (not that adults looking for a more relaxed RPG wouldn't enjoy it too). Then between games the kids can recreate scenes with their Lego.

Using LEGO to represent a fictional world?

I would say do it in Lego if that is how you see your world. You are never going to please everyone so you might as well tell your story the way you want to tell it with the visuals you want to use. Which ever route you go it is going to involve a good deal of work so you might as well make sure you are enjoying the work part of it as much as the finished result. Please post a link to your site once you get it up and running as it does sound interesting.

That Doc Brown hair could be used for a First Doctor as well. Since it can me multi-tasked that could be why it made it into a Fun Pack.

Non Lego sets worth AFOL and collector attention

Glad to find some other fans of Mega Bloks Call of Duty Collector Series. When I first saw these mini action figures it felt like 1982 all over again. And they combine two of my favorite toys from my childhood, G.I. Joe and Lego, with the best that both lines had to offer back then (and in a way Hasbro has never been able to produce despite their attempts at it). Not much I can say except to confirm the positive comments about the sets made above and confirm that these are not the Mega Bloks sets from years ago. The improved quality is not just limited to their Collector's Series (targeted more to adults) but is also in some of their more "kid oriented" sets (at least the Toys R Us exclusive True Heroes sets that I got for extra bricks). Mega Bloks also has some unique bricks that Lego doesn't make such as the inverted cheese wedge, a 2 x 2 plate with studs on both sides and my favorites the bricks with rounded top and side corners (those look great when mixed in with regular sharp corner bricks). Mega Bloks also uses colors that Lego doesn't in their Marbleized bricks (in classic, metal, jungle and dessert patterns). The only thing I haven't been as impressed with is the coloration of some of the gun parts in the Call of Duty line. While most are black/very dark gray or appropriate to the environment of the set (dessert/arctic) some other could use some work (or paint). While I do enjoy building these newer Mega Bloks sets as much as I enjoy building Lego sets I don't mix the blocks...although it would be funny to just to see expressions my Lego purist friends would make. Now if Mega Bloks would just make some boxes of blocks, plates and tiles (with the same quality as their sets of course) I could start making some modular buildings for my CoD guys to fight off the zombie hordes in.

    Nexo Knights 2016

I know what you mean. We cannot get new information soon enough. But on the other hand I'm trying not to get too excited so if if the new line turns out to be kind of weak like the pirate release I won't be too disappointed (I'm a bit scared that Lego will never see the Castle theme as a serious theme and only release kiddie/Junior like sets like last time). Regardless of what they release I'll probably get at least some of it, but I'm sure we would all love a theme we can be excited about and buy all the set of it.

    Nexo Knights 2016

To me it seems like Lego is going more character and story based in their themes (Ninjago, Chima, Ultra Agents) and of course licensed themes are mostly like that. Based on that (and the rumor that a game and show are supposedly planned to go with this line) I'm sticking to my theory from back in April...(paraphrased below) "The new Castle will have characters (but hopefully not Power Ranger Knights), it will have playsets (which most of the Ninjago and Chima buildings were pretty good for their theme) and it will have vehicles (although these may take on a more steampunk or World of Warcraft look instead of a modern or futuristic look)." I think it would be nice if Lego did updated versions of the old factions for the characters. So the "Rogue" would have the Wolfpack or Forrestman logo and Knights (good and bad) could each have one each of some of the old factions like Black Falcons, Dragon Masters, Fright Knights, etc. I do think it would be funny if the first wave was humans (or a mix of human, elf and dwarf characters) against Snake People using repainted Ninjago Snake People parts. Then the next wave could be humans against Skeletons.

DC Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussions

Besides the Flash, I wouldn't mind seeing some sets based on Arrow as well. Hopefully this last wave of DC sets was the first step towards an expanded DC Universe theme. After seeing most the character designs for the Batman: Beyond Gotham game, I would love to see DC bring those to life as actual Lego minifigures and sets. It seems like they have so much available that they could keep a DCU theme going for quite a while without too much trouble.

    LEGO Dimensions Discussion

In my opinion an ongoing Doctor Who theme would work well for Lego. Since Doctor Who travels through time and space he could literally tie into any of their other main themes like City, Space, Castle and Pirates. The sets they could make are pretty endless and with 13 Doctors (counting the Time War "Grandpa Grumpy" version of the Doctor) you don't run into the issue of having an army of the main character from getting all the sets like other licensed themes.

    Nexo Knights 2016

While it was not great, I don't think the 2013 Castle wave was that bad compared to some past Castle waves. I liked it much better than the Power Ranger Knights (no offense to them...just not my thing) but not as good as Vikings, Black Falcon and Fantasy eras. The leg printing and front and back torso printing on the minifigs was top notch and makes the printed armor look better in my opinion. I think what really hurt that line was that most of the builds where colorful and bright and the castle itself had lots of panel pieces while coming out around the same time as the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit sets that were more brick built and not as colorful. The contrast of what was offered in the Castle line compared to what could be done in the LotR/Hobbit lines made the 2013 Castle line have that kids/Juniors look (granted I think younger kids were more the target audience while LotR/Hobbit were more for older kids/teens and older builders) and seeing them on the shelves side by side made that really stand out. If Lego can find a better balance in this upcoming Castle line I think it will do much better than the 2013 line

    Nexo Knights 2016

In my opinion there is no reason not to combine the various Castle sets. Granted I like a lot of diversity in my Lego Kingdom. And by combining the sets you can do your own Lego War of Kings.

    Nexo Knights 2016

I could be wrong but I don't think the above mentioned rumor is Dimensions. I know very little about the game play for Skylander and Infinity but I don't think they are MMOs. And I really doubt they are going to do a TV series about Dimensions as it seems to me that would take away from the game play (and game related purchases).
