Hey, so Ive been looking at Technic recently and I've toyed with most stuff now, but not really pneumatics. Which sets are the ones considered best to start one off with the system? Preferably ones that arent to pricey. -

Anyone seen the new Star Wars “Battle Figures” yet? Ive heard of people in Sydney getting them from force friday, but havent seen them anywhere locally in Vic. -
Is it just me, or is the kindle version not available at the moment? I would have thought they'd release it alongside the physical copy.

If you look on the inside of the masks, most of them seem to have a little notch designed to sit on the 2 length technic beam of the official design. Obviously this works better in theory than practice. So I guess the "official" design worked better originally, but the masks have since changed slightly?

The new animation was pretty nice, although I feel like Kopaka was somehow angrier than Tahu. But I'm a bit confused. What was Skull Slicer trying to do with Lewas mask? He kind of just... wore it, and jumped around, laughing. Hopefully they give our villains some more motives later on.

I seem to recall a few months back on 4chan someone posting about Nekchir being one of the "chir"s (wasn't his name different a few months back?), I never really understood what was going on with that. Surely nobody would go through all that to post fake leaks? Anyway to get back on topic and err away from starting a conspiracy, Nekchir, in the event that your info is true, could you please tell us if the new sets still suffer from the ubiquity of metallic parts? That's probably my main concern for the new sets.

Cute. I wouldn't mind sets like this, they'd be fun and also decent part packs for technic and other connectors. I get the feeling that the creature sets next year will feature masks though.

Oh, so there are two different lengths? Nice. Will definitely be breaking out the Brasso on Jango when I get him (because yeah those prints don't even look good on the actual set IMO). Kind of annoying though, to see that Star Wars has a much higher budget for recolors than the CCBS flagship theme. Oh well. -

From my local stores in Ballarat: Kmart: nothing new Target: New Friends and Elves Myers: New Star Wars, Minecraft, Ninjago and some (but not all) new City sets Big W: All of the new City and Ninjago sets. So it would seem all of the August sets are out in one place or another now (except for Bionicle, which I am yet to find). -
Any Australians seen the new sets yet? It's almost mid-August and I still haven't seen anything new.

I've seen a few new ninjago sets, saw the ghost bike at Big W last week, and saw the blue tank thing at Kmart the week before. Not sure why only those two August sets got an early release though. -
A new mask recolor? In an easily accessible polybag? And it's (in my opinion) the best mask of this wave? Yes please. Also I notice that the instructions do in fact tell you to attach the mask to the stand like that, but do you think it would attach better the other way around? Or does it not fit?

From the original set list I couldn't help but notice Ice "C" was missing. G2 Matoro when? Anyway when does this thread stop being wishes and become rumors and speculation/general discussion? Surely it's time for a new pinned thread soon.

Honestly I don't see what the appeal is for glow in the dark parts other than maybe a mask or a few other token parts (like the ones on Takadox). I suppose a GiTD skull spider or MoCr would be pretty cool, but building components like eyes and bone pieces not so much, as they don't really have any aesthetic bonus with the current GiTD color TLG makes. I feel like the Mask of Time doesn't really seem like much of an important McGuffin, more like it was in G1 - a sort of throwaway promotion item, loosely used in the story. I imagine it might sort of be similar to Dareth from Ninjago, who was a recurring (and presumably popular) character, but was still left as a polybag exclusive.

While I would like some larger villains, I have to agree with previous posters that smaller sets are more viable, and that is something else I'd like to see - Protector sized villains, something we haven't had for a while (at least not in a wave to themselves). Toa on the Deep Web? :u

What special Kanohi/Masks do you own?

Been collecting for maybe 4 years now, and currently have a full set of 48 Great Kanohi, 36 Noble masks + matoran/rahi masks, as well as a half-completed set of Nuva masks I'm currently working on. I think I have a flat gold kraahkan and a sparkly avohkii around somewhere too. But as for "special" masks, this would have to be my collection: I also have a custom Gold Mask of Stone, much like Leewan (although I don't know if they're from the same person): Nice, always thought that was one of the more interesting collectibles. How many limbs did you have to sacrifice for that? Very nice, ever considered parting with one? :u -
I'm a little sceptical about Korgot being a girl as the page being referred to has no header or page number. Still, I hope it's real, as it'd be nice to get some gender diversity amongst elements.

Same. I'm a bit of a completionist when it comes to masks, but with how exclusive the trans kaukau is, it kind of kills that aspect anyway. I probably will end up paying stupid money for it anyway though.

Original Bionicle vs CCBS discussion

Might sound crazy, but not everyone is in alliance with TLGs ideas with constraction. Of course it's not impossible to make good MOCs with CCBS, it's more just that CCBS is not as easy to build creatively with. There are certainly a lot more innovative creations out there using G1 Bionicle parts than there are using CCBS parts. I mean, go on Brickshelf for example, the archives are full of interesting Bionicle designs (not all necessarily good, but still creative). Majority of CCBS creations, however, tend to be of the 'rearranging shells and add-ons' construction. Both G1 Bionicle MOCs and CCBS MOCs tend to depend on technic when becoming larger/deviating from standard builds, yes. However CCBS tends to need more modifications for this deviation to work, as torsos and limbs are less customization, and have limited attachment points for armor, while in G1 Bionicle almost all parts attached via technic pins/axles (excluding joints of course), and those attachment points were much easier to come by. I wouldn't say that in G1 a 'Titan' was just a figure larger than a canister set - it generally involved something more, with a more interesting design, non-standard functions, and such. In this way sets like Lesovikk and Toa Ignika could be considered as "titans" (also sort of vehicle sets, another subset scarcely seen in CCBS) with their non-standard builds. Anyway, we have technically had some 'titans' in CCBS like Rocka XL or Black Phantom, however they tended to be rather messy. TLG has seemingly given up on the idea for now, most likely as the end results didn't turn out very well when trying to make larger sets with non-standard builds. Sure, CCBS is part of the technic family, but of course all LEGO parts are able to work together, it doesn't mean that they all do with ease. Ball joints may be technic, but they aren't really common at all outside of CCBS. The only real common connections in technic are those pins and axles, and CCBS sorely lacks those on all but the bone elements. Basically CCBS is a valid LEGO subset, but it just isn't as good as its predecessor. -

They barely even did exist where I was, could only find 2 of them on one occasion. Didn't get any krana packs for them either. I recall some other places also had a limited supply of the Kal too, with select colors absent. I wonder why? -
Nothing in Australia, as expected. However there is some good news - this years second constraction wave is August in Australia rather than the usual September.

Boba Fett. It's really strange that they chose to make Jango over him. Also less silver/gunmetal/general metallic colors. These G2 Bionicle sets are even worse than the Mistika, whose silver was at least coherent.
