  1. Entry # 22: Twentieth Century Ocean Liners This theme is dedicated to the Passenger Ships that crossed the Seven Seas during the Twentieth Century. Several million people travelled through the Oceans for leisure or for need and these big boats - a sort of floating cities - were an important symbol of the economical and social history of that Age. I loved the "Ferries" theme that Lego released from 1977 to 1999 and I was inspired by those fascinating models and by their plain and classic building style. At first I meant to build the biggest and most famous Twentieth Century Liners but in the Internet I found that many outstanding models - of Titanic, Queen Mary, France, etc. - had been built in real or virtual Lego bricks. So I decided to concentrate on Italian ships - or better ships that were Italian for a while - because they were the ones I knew better and I was told many stories about them. I am not adding historical or technical notes, as anyone can easily search the Internet about them. The boats have been freely interpreted in some details because the photoes sometimes were not so clear, or because I wanted to keep a "theme style". However the proportions have almost been respected. The scale is approx. 1:480. Anyone who wants to build them can serenely expose them on the same shelf. As some of these ships changed company, name, aspect, nationality and usage (Ocean Liners, hospital ships, cruise ships) during their lives, for some sets I found it natural to make another model with the same structure but some visible difference in colour or shape. The nationality is different too. I counted such models as new sets but they may be considered alternative models, as most parts are in common. 2. My question is about a specific part but could be considered in general. According to Bricklink, part 2626 (Stem Brick 6 x 6) was released in light grey before 2002 but never in light bluish grey, and light grey does not exist anymore in new sets. If I want to use it and I already run out the 5 tolerated wrong comboes what should I do? 1) Use it in light bluish grey because when Lego re-releases old sets they will use light bluish grey (it already happened) 2) Use it in light grey but so I have to change all grey parts for obvious aesthetical reasons. 3) Do not use it or sacrifice another combo. Thanks for your attention.

I am mostly active in the Section about Official Sets made with digital tools; someway Lego sets are historical too. And the 3d virtual models are really amazing. Oh, I forgot: welcome to the Eurobricks!

Historical Vehicles Entry #4: Benz Patent Motorwagen "Velociped" Released in 1885, patented in 1886, it was the first vehicle powered by an internal-combustion engine. I propose some rendered pictures of a LDD model, with different colours and building solutions. Any feedback is more than welcome.

Entry #3: Fardier à vapeur (Steam Drain), made by Joseph Nicolas Cugnot in 1771. As far as I know, it is the first self-moving vehicle ever. A reproduction in scale

Beautiful car. I downloaded the picture because it is quite challenging to build in virtual Lego. There seem to be several "Locomobiles" or "Lokomobiles" in technology museums. They were used as vehicles, tractors, train or industrial locomotives. I am seaching for the ones that may look more credible in a mini-scale Lego build. I have submitted a few on Lego Ideas but also want to show them here.

  11. I was searching for them so hard in the net so finally I decided to build them by myself. As far as I can.
  12. 8854 - Power Crane (model B) - Technic 8854_b.mpd Flexible hoses have been made in SR3Dbuilder and "exported as .DAT" so they can be visible in ldiew. The model steering system is based on a central joint; subparts can be rotated to steer the vehicle but that will cause discountinuity in some flexible parts.

Well I hadn't noticed the jubilee event - that could be emphasized on the set's box ... the story is very interesting and controverted, because a 3-wheel "Velociped" was made by Karl Benz few months before Daimer's. So which one is to be awarded as the first car ever? I tried a virtual build of the Velociped too but the outcome was not so good. I am glad to support your projcts!
  19. The sets: 462 889 891 6801 6822 6823 6874 have been updated to LDD 4.3.9. thanks to the Classic Space Torso decoration which is now available.
  20. It is great to have the Classic Space Torso decoration; I already have udated the models I posted long time ago.
