  1. This post last updated: 24th February 2017 with LXF file of 90% complete outer hull and Engines. LXF files can be found at the bottom of this post. I started this project in 2010 with a Bricklinked UCS 10179-1 Falcon. I immediately started building a full interior, heavily inspired by Matt De Lanoy's Falcon (not a mod of the UCS Falcon, but very nice). Most recent overall pictures Engine modifications WIP photos and comments: This is a a strip of 18 cool white LEDs on a 30cm sticky-backed strip: they cost about £8. As you can see, I’ve stuck them in at about 10 studs from the engine “grilles". They look great when lit, both in full darkness and with the room lights on. The LEDs are pointing straight at the grilles and there are lots of them. Sorry to any purists reading that they aren’t Lego LEDs, but 18 power function LEDs and a battery box would have set me back about £150! The rest of the LEDs are a LifeLites eLites Advanced 2 kit bought from www.BricksForKids.com in France. These LEDs are designed to be compatible with lego bricks, e.g. they are 3mm wide and the switch box sits on a 2 x 4 lego Technic plate. I plan to use them for floodlights, landing lights and interior lighting. I haven’t fitted them yet. I’ll post more pics when I do. Since I now have a nice curve on the engines, I decided to take advantage of it to get the "Thrust Vector Baffles" sorted out: I borrowed the idea wholesale from Matt De Lanoy, once again (I really need to buy that man a beer sometime). The alternatives which I considered were this by OceanBlue77, or this by Brian Tobin. Since I was doing the engines anyway, I redid the entire rear hull: More pictures are available on my Flickr set. Comments, criticisms and - especially - ideas on how to improve this model are all very welcome. LXF files: Added 24th Feb 2017: Complete Top and Bottom Hull plus Engines Added 13th October 2015: Engine Mod and Rear Hull as pictured above. Upper Docking Tunnels (From OceanBlue77's mod): Port Starboard Episode VII (The Force Awakens) Radar Dish (see seperate thread) Upper Gun Turret (no major mods, just a re-skin) Landing Gear(template, really need to finish this) Added 17th Jan 2016: Brick-built round dish (LXF) Added 26th Feb 2016: Engine mod - just the engine grille (LXF)

Bricklinked UCS Millennium Falcon - MODded heavily

Hi @Sucram Sorry to say, I have no photos with the cover off. I also don't intend to take any.... It's currently on a high shelf in a display box. It took a lot of delicate, careful work to get it up there and it ain't coming down for a long, long time :-)
  3. This is a minifig-scale model of "The Phantom", the shuttle from the TV series "Star Wars Rebels". It's about a foot long and has a full interior, with working hatches at the rear and on the underside. I re-used the cockpit and nose from goatman461's excellent design, along with elements of the sides, roof and underside hatch: and I'm grateful for his kind permission to post this model. As usual, I've documented the build as an LXF file for my own reference, and I am linking the LXF file here in case anyone else feels like building this model. The LXF is nearly-but-not-quite correct. I can't place the roof (the angled pillars at the back prevent it from attaching) and the tyre with tread at the front of the engine should be an old smooth tyre (part no. 132) - something which does not appear to exist in LDD. Update: Many, many thanks to @monkypaws for making the instrctions available for free on rebrickable - link here. This page contains both a step-by-step set of instructions and a parts list. The details section contains a list of rare parts to check before attempting a build. Before someone asks: yes, I am pondering building the Ghost in scale with this shuttle. I estimate it would be quite large - 138 studs long, 1.1 metres, or the length of a stay in a local psychiatric hospital. Here are a couple of pictures. More can be found on the flickr album: Here are some photos of the Interior. First a shot from the front of the cockpit, showing Hera and Kanan, with the rest of the crew in the background (minus Chopper, who is in his droid socket on top of the ship). The belly hatch works, i.e. it opens and closes: There are eight seats in the back (realistically, seating for six, given the width of Lego figures): Once again, more photos can be found on the flickr album There is always room for improvement: If you have any suggestions, comments or criticisms, please feel free to leave them below. Edited 16th May: added interior photos.

Bricklinked UCS Millennium Falcon - MODded heavily

Since we're reviving this old topic now: I pulled the model out of storage earlier this year and took another crack at it. The engine mod is the same. Most of the bodywork has been changed. Here are some 95% complete WIP shots: And a beauty shot that didn't turn out too bad: I may post a final gallery here once I've found the time to finish the interior and got a better camera setup. Acknowledgements: I have borrowed ideas from Chrome Vader (with his kind permission), The BrickVault Falcon (I bought the instructions...), the second UCS model (nice printed bits and the tops of the docking rings are OK) and various posts about the docking rings from the UCS mods thread here on Eurobricks.

(You need to picture lightning crashing around a remote Scottish castle somewhere and Mad Scientist Dave bringing the corpse of this topic back to life, aided by gravedigger @BaronStoke). IT LIIIVVVEEESSS!!!! I've refreshed the links on the first post, as requested. They all should work now, any problems give me a shout. The particular file you wanted: Engines - mod only

[MOC] [LXF] Minifig-scale Phantom from Star Wars Rebels

@Gobbel, glad that you're OK with stud.io, thank you for the kind words. @monkypaws I appreciate that you are on holiday. When you're ready, I would still like a copy of the instructions you created so I can share a link in the first post: it would be nice for anyone else who wants to build it.

[MOC] [LXF] Minifig-scale Phantom from Star Wars Rebels

You might want to chase up @monkypaws about that: he never sent me any instructions so the best I can offer is the most recent .io file:https://www.dropbox.com/s/e7zj68ot55dxpww/Phantom.io?dl=0 Also the stickers to go with it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/9u46vqw6rrs36ii/Phantom Stickers.png?dl=0 The io file opens in bricklink's Stud.io: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/studio/download.page You can use Stud.io to view and deconstruct the model. You can also connect to Bricklink from within Stud.io and generate the part list. Good luck!

    [MOC] Minifig-Scale Millennium Falcon

Thanks for the link! I watched the video shortly after it came out yesterday. Once again, very impressive work. It's great to see how the removable panels work and to see more of the interior details. Sadly, Texas is a bit far for me to go (there's ano ocean in the way) but good luck with the display.

    [MOC] Minifig-Scale Millennium Falcon

Thank you for the extra interior photos: they look perfectly fine to me. It's good to see the hatches in place in both the cargo holds. Thank you also for the photo of the landing gear. That 5-wide throwing disk piece is the perfect size, and it's clear that you modelled the landing gear closely on that of the miniature.

    [MOC] Minifig-Scale Millennium Falcon

I love a good Millennium Falcon model, and this one is gorgeous. I'm excited to see how closely you've followed the 32" plans (my favourite Falcon) and the results look amazing. So smooth! So detailed! Even the underside has all the correct details and areas of colour right where they're meant to be. I love the way you constructed the mandibles: they look really, really neat. The interior looks awesome as well. I especially like that you've included inner airlock doors on the docking rings: something I've always thought should be there even if we never see them. Did you build landing gear as well, or is it meant to be displayed only on the technic stand?
  12. As an alternative suggestion for the big cone piece: when I built my Falcon I used a trans-light-blue piece. I designed and printed out a sticker on my inkjet printer. My sticker file is here on my dropbox. My Falcon is in storage right now but you can check out photos on my flickr feed (link in my signature). If you want some close-ups I can be persuaded to dig the cockpit piece out for a quick photo shoot.

Fondor Haulcraft - where’s the MOCS?

I wish you hadn't said that . I was just getting interested in this pocket Falcon. If they do a Razor Crest on it before we even know it's actual proper name, I'm going to be a bit sad.

Fondor Haulcraft - where’s the MOCS?

Funny to be seeing this question. I was having the exact same thoughts earlier today. I started sketching the front of this ship at lunchtime and working out which parts to use for a minifig-scale version. I don't know how far I'll get but I'll probably have a go in Stud.io soon, see what I come up with. Like icm says, this ain't no N-1. I did a moc of that in a day. This might take a bit longer.

[MOC] [LXF] Minifig-scale Phantom from Star Wars Rebels

That looks great! I like the way the modified wings look, and I am pleased to see it built. I hope you and your son have a lot of fun with it. I'll send you a PM with my email address

Life gets busy, doesn't it? Sorry to hear about the Covid, but glad to hear you're making progress. Take your time, get it right :-).

[MOC] [LXF] Minifig-scale Phantom from Star Wars Rebels

I would love a copy of the instructions once you're done with them - I can make them available to anyone else who wants to build this. Good luck with your build! I also have both a son and a cat (although my son at age 15 is no longer excited by Lego) so I appreciate the challenges of keeping things built.

[MOC] [LXF] Minifig-scale Phantom from Star Wars Rebels

Hey @monkypaws, so glad you like it! It's always good to receive feedback, and especially good to know that other people are enjoying the models I made. Credit where it's due: it's nice to be compared to a frickin' genius like Nick Trotta :-), but the idea for the cockpit came from @goatman461's Season 1 build. Looking at the photos again I realise that the section on the wings made up of 45 degree slopes could be redone with the Tile, Modified 2 x 2 Triangular, which hadn't come out when I made this originally. You'll need two in yellow and two in white, plus two 2x2 regular tiles and some plates for the underside. I'll leave the exact fix as an exercise for the reader.

    [MOC] Doctor Who - Daleks

That last one is lovely - the v2/v3 hybrid. I like what you did with the head - that's an ingenious technique, and it brilliant that you got the lights and the eyestalk in there.Changing the lower modified tile to black "sells" it. The proportions look good, and I do like the whisk - but I slightly prefer the gun/arm platform from v3.

    75192 - UCS Millennium Falcon 2017 MOD/MOC

Seconded. This has caught my attention. I really like the smoothness of the mandibles, and I think the curved dome is a great idea. I'd love to see more.

    Din’s New N1 Starfighter

Thanks @herrodanyo - that you want to build it is quite a compliment! Sadly, no: I don't have an instructions file, and I have no plans to make one. It's mainly based on @Inthert's model, sold by @BrickVault. I don't want to tread on the toes of either of those fine gentlemen. However, you can get very close if you build that model in grey and then keep modding. Most of what I did is pretty obvious, and I'm always willing to help with non obvious bits. As a starter for 10, the weirdest bits are: The bar of minifig hands on the leading edge of the wings is the sketchiest thing I've ever done in Lego, being just jammed in there and held on by friction. The pipes leading to the turbonic venturi power assimilator are also pretty suss, being some space blasters wedged under the curved slopes. There's a (genuine Lego) rubber band on the tail, and the cut away section on the right hand side uses cut old dark grey hoses. The stickers are from a "golden yellow" a4 vinyl sheet bought from eBay. It's a perfect match for Lego yellow :-).

    Din’s New N1 Starfighter

That's a shame. It probably won't help much with accuracy of the front of the engines.
