LOTR & The Hobbit 2012

Oh my god and look how tall is that building compared to the Helm's Deep!

I also have the impression to see an ENT!

How tall would the Orthanc tower be?

BTW is that the Flying Dutchman on the left?

The "shelob" could be a 'flys and spiders set'?

And all of a sudden there are prices mentioned on the german website...

Bag's End € 79,99

Mystery of the Ring € 12,99

Fleeing from the Mirkwood spiders € 29,99

Attack of the Warg € 59,99

Cave of the King € 99,99

Speculation or inside info?

Those set names sound plausible enough. Time will tell I suppose but I definitely see a Balrog and Orthanc in our future and possibly an Ent too.

But those will be LOTR and not "The Hobbit" sets.

I have been doubting a balrog set as we already had the mines set. however if what the German site says is true then this will be the second spider in the series, so that may be possible!

...from which Gandalf was missing. Perhaps to save him for a Balrog set to be used as an "add-on" to the Moria set? It could have roughly the same size as the Shelob set.

I'm shocked to see that this new Bag End set doesn't cost more than Weathertop, as it seems full of so many more new molds and colors. Weathertop seems like a less impressive deal now, compared to this.

Man, Bag's End is expensive :sceptic:

The mystery of the Ring is probably the scene where Bilbo meets Gollum right?

So the trolls won't make an appearance in the set. Not that I'm complaining about the scenes they chose.

Now I'm actually glad they paused the PotC license because it will be an expensive year for me with all these upcoming great sets from LOTR, the Hobbit and the Superheroes theme.

Yes. I suppose it has been literally translated from German and should rather read "Riddles in the Dark" (as the chapter name in The Hobbit) or something similar including riddles.

Looking forward to Bag End and the Orc King most. I hope those orcs will look like the Moria Orcs. A couple more of those and a leader would be great!

In reality, there is no back wall to be built anyway. The back is the actual hill the hobbit hole was made from. Just like for Helm's Deep, we couldn't expect Lego to sell us a mountain...

I never thought of it in that perspective. When you put it like that, you're right! It makes sense to disclude a back. But...now I feel a need to MOC the whole mountain with Bag End built in!

That pretzel's cool. It's also being used in Minifigures Series 8 pics I posted.

So based on what we know about Bag End's price point and the cost of the LOTR line here is my speculation on the prices for each set:

Mystery of the ring $13

Mirkwood Spiders $30

Exclusive(Target?) $40

An Unexpected Gathering $60

Warg Attack $80

Gobblin King $120

Any thoughts?

Some better views on Nori and Thorin, Nori especialy, His hair/beardpiece looks neat

nwzlab_th.png

Click for bigger.

I saw them replacing the figures on a livestream. other people were taking phone pictures while they were still there.

Hopefully some of them will make it online!

The fact that they have the figures at comic con should mean they'll show them off at some point properly.

the only problem I see with your speculations is the Warg Attack price. How can that be more expensive than Bag End if we know Bag End = $60/€80 and Warg = ??/€60.

Well redish brown would work better, the color they are using seems to be dark orange.

Dark brown wouldn't work cause his torso is that.

While certainly possible, I would base no speculation on that giant picture. Just look to the far right at all the Star Wars sets on the shelves - many of those don't actually exist. So, apply the same reasoning to the LoTR sets in the background...
