[CONTEST] Exhilarating Inspiration for Redesigning an Existing LEGO Pirate Set

Return of the Classic Pirates Contest
Inspiration for Redesigning an Existing LEGO Pirate Set

Not sure what to create for the contest's building category

Here are some great examples to get your started...

And if you know of any other MOCs which are remakes of classic LEGO Pirate sets, feel free to post them here.

Please remember the objective is not create a full blown MOC based on an existing set, rather "update or modernise an existing LEGO Pirate set" in the same way 10320 Eldorado Fortress and Black Seas Barracuda from 21322 Pirates of Barracuda Bay have been officially updated by the LEGO Group.

Thanks for the shout out at the top! I’m ready to start building something new!

All of your previous reimaginings and remakes are incredible.

Your forbidden island is the kind of thing lego needs to be producing.

All of these MOC Sabre Islands are so much better than the original. I never understood why LEGO did not put some stairs to access the upper floors. Also the original version of the tower is very narrow and it's difficult to play on the 1st floor.

Lego was much simpler back then and not so obsessed with details, and so it was common to force kids to simply use their imagination to "magicaly" move their figures from one corner of the set to another, thus, stairs and ladders were often deemed unecessary  ;)

Makes sense. However they could have broaden a bit the Tower. We never play on the 1st floor with my kids because there is not enough space. But I guess they did so in order not to increase the price too much.

You're probably aware that the designers eventually incorporated ladders into the later forts.

However, when the LEGO Pirates theme was first introduced, the designers had already designed dozens of brand new parts just for the LEGO Pirate theme.

Everything from cutlasses and muskets to palm trunks and leaves, to new animals, to ship hulls, ratlines and sails, to barrels and tubs was new for the theme.

But there were only so many new moulds LEGO could accommodate in the first wave of sets so ladders had to wait for the future.
