Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Damn and people seriously thought this was gonna be on the same level as Diagon Alley version? It looks like a version from Wish to me. But that is not the main problem, the minigs are. Instead of giving us new characters that would absolutely make sense like Cormac, Narcissa (with Draco ofc), they rather put there some random students just for the sake of diversity…boring.

The plates this is built on is concerning enough for me. Gringotts is very unlikely to be compatible with both old and new Diagon Alley sets out of the box. Gonna cry if its made to go with this rubbish and no the old one. Couldn't they have left this set off til next year so we wouldn't all be questioning what Gringotts was going to be compatible with?

Of course Gringotts is gonna be compatibile with old version of DA, why it wouldn’t be? In the worst case you will need to remove that undergroud section to connect it. It’s rumored to be in scale with Diagon Alley and that is all that matters.

So a random question for you all: what do you actually do with the sets you buy? I originally started collecting this theme for the minifigures, which I have on display in wall-mounted frames. But the sets just take up too much space and as much as I love them, I ended up boxing them away in crates.

I by no means buy all the sets, but many of you seem to buy most of them, so was just curious as to what you do with them (especially the D2C, which are far too expensive to buy and not have on display as far as I’m concerned…)

I have all 2018+ sets displayed currently. So far it all fits. Only thing I'm missing are the banner sets, but those I can hang technically. I'll have to get more display space though once the summer sets come around.

I'm really hoping the rumours are true. It's all just giving me Hogwarts castle reboot vibes is all. The release of it is just very weird timing. Why would you release a new Diagon Alley set basically alongside an old style Diagon Alley set if they aren't compatible?

I personally don't like the inclusion of something that wasn't in the films or books (owl post) however it might be a nice addition for Hogsmeade instead.  I assume the remaining figure is a generic owl post worker, partly as I don't recognise the character and partly because LEGO has a trend of using generic figures to add diversity (just an observation, nothing critical of course). One owl seems a bit stingy if that's all we get for this building.

I think the post office witch is based on the theme park costumes for the post office employees.

Sure. My point is that the dragon is perched on top of Gringotts at the park, making it more likely to be included. If the set was purely based on the movies, they could theoretically base it solely on PS and thus get away with omitting it, which would be a huge shame.

Fair dos, think the dragon is prominent enough in the movie and my prediction is we will get one in a set and one as a flying sculpture like the Horntail :classic:

Good spot, I think you're right as the dark blue is at least similar enough and the tie implies that it's a worker rather than a casual shopper.  Shame it's not a known character from books or films but might be a nice addition to Hogsmeade if nothing else.  Still not personally a fan of including theme park locations ahead of movie locations at all, given we're missing the leaky cauldron, borgin and burkes, and many other shops.  For a similar reason I'd personally prefer a cheaper Gringotts without the dragon perched on top, although it's surely inevitable at this point given the price and the display in the Leicester square lego shop.

For that price, they’d better include the dragon  I don‘t mind stuff from the theme park being included as I view those elements as a nice bonus. They don‘t contradict the movies, and I doubt they replaced anything that would otherwise have made it into sets. For instance, the owl post office is so small, I doubt they could‘ve done an „actual“ DA shop in its place :shrug_oh_well:

The Pygmy puff is… fine? With how hyped up it was I would’ve expected a specialized part or something.

What do you mean? It is a new mould. :pir-love:

Hard to tell. Could also just be a printed technic ball piece :shrug_oh_well:

I mean I wouldn't mind if it was. If everything becomes super specialised then Lego will stop feeling like Lego eventually and Pygmy Puffs are basically round balls of fluff so a printed technic ball would be fine to me.

Agreed, I think I'd almost prefer this was the case.  Save the moulds for pieces that need it eg fang.

I'm glad this new WWW looks a lot simpler, the face and the window sections being shrunk being the most obvious standouts without knowing what the inside looks like. Makes my DA still feel like it holds value. I can't say I have any interest in the owl post section and honestly didn't even know it existed in a particular format as never been to the theme park. I think Lego fully intends this to be a set for those who can't afford DA and then a parts and minifigures pack to those who do, and I'm sure it will sell what with the bright colours etc, although the comments I've seen on another website people haven't been too impressed notably feeling it looks like a cheap copy. Cannot fault Lego's train of thought with this one if it is as I suspect. I almost feel now that a lot of the material from the films has been covered (Durmstrang Ship and Karkaroff / Lovegood House being two notable exceptions to me), Lego will be just keeping this theme ticking along for the next three to four years until the new series makes an appearance after which if they still have the license I would think there would then be a switch to making sets from that material.

Pretty sure it’s a printed technic ball, they’ve been printed on before. It’s not bad or anything it’s just that it got so hyped and it was selling the set to some people.

So now that we’ve seen it, why does this set exist and why does it exist now? Was a printed ball and the puking statue really that essential that this building had to be remade now while the original is still on the market? Im not saying the set should never been remade but why in 2023. Sure this fills the gap in the market previously filled by the Hogsmeade set which I assume retired recently but we survived the first three years without a wizard shops set for kids, surely we could put this remake off for another year or two especially since the DA version is still on the market.

Because some people, mainly kids can’t afford D2C version. That’s it. As an AFOL I don’t like this set being released either but at the same time I understand why they made it… at least I can save some money because I can gladly pass it.

Precisely for this reason I like it. It's a good, shrunk down version which looks like an accurate model of thing it is meant to be representing, has solid figures and will save me having to invest in a giant diagon alley just for this shop.

Could someone also remind what other sets we're expecting? I saw the fuzzy image with a new hogwarts express (yay as I missed the last one) and some hogwarts addition? Are these all based off the later films or again a mixture?

Buildable Dobby, buildable 2in1 patronus with Harry & Lupin, Battle of Hogwarts with Harry, Neville, Molly, McGonagall, Scabior, Voldy, & Bellatrix, Hogwarts Express with 8 minifigs (including short-legged Harry & Hagrid), and a Quidditch trunk with at least one student per house :classic:

Buildable Dobby with diary and cake/sock mini builds

Buildable Patronis (can either build Harry's stag or Lupin's wolf). Supposedly comes with Harry and Lupin minifigures.

Hogwarts Express with Hogsmeade Station

Quidditch Trunk (minifigures supposedly include Harry, Draco, Cedric and Cho)

Battle of Hogwarts castle section (minifigures supposedly include Harry, Voldemort, Neville, McGonagall, Scabior, Bellatrix and Molly)

Weasley's Wizard Wheezes

Gringotts

Microscale Hogwarts

So it's a bit of a mixture: Dobby is Chamber of Secrets; Patronus is Prisoner of Azkaban; Hogwarts Express looks to be Philosopher's Stone in terms of the station, but no idea what minifigures are included inside the train so it's might be a bit of a mix; Quidditch Trunk again might be considered a range from Philosopher's Stone - Goblet of Fire depending on the Harry included; WWW is Half Blood Prince; Battle of Hogwarts is Deathly Hallows; Gringotts could be Philosopher's Stone based or Deathly Hallows or a mix, but we don't know yet; and the Microscale Hogwarts supposedly has builds of aspects from all the films e.g. Quidditch Pitch, Beauxbaton's Carriage etc.

Oh neat, thank you. I assume the details for the microscale hogwarts are limited but that does sound one of the more interesting sets this wave

I find the feet a little weird, but the rest looks good. Especially UCS Dobby's Sock for the meme value.

I like Dobby's eyes and may get any stickers/prints for the book cover, but otherwise the big Dobby isn't for me 😁

I won't be getting this one, but kudos to the designers for creating him in this scale and not producing something totally creepy. He's actually really cute. The studs representing the knobbly knees are adorable. 😍
