The Magpie weaves between the rocks flawlessly. The heroes fling down Smoke Clouders, bursting into billowing pillars of smoke as the vessel cuts through them and the Apocalypse riddles the cloud with cannonfire. Through it all, the Magpie manages to come out unscathed next to the armor-clad warship. Everyone gains experience.

The party having maneuvered the rock field waits...and waits...and waits. Apart from a few small air bubbles that mar the surface of the still-black water, there's no sign of the boarding party.

Until a small plume of water erupts from the side of the Apocalypse, under the water line, the frigid ocean water displaced for a few seconds as it seem a miniature explosion took place.

"That'll be them."

Minutes later, a second, far larger explosion took place, this time in the very stern of the ship. The lowest-most gunports were completely obliterated, and without the support, the next two decks of rear cannons splintered, half a dozen cannons slamming into the water's surface before sinking rapidly. As if that weren't enough...the captain's cabin that was placed just above all of them shuddered and shook - the heavy iron plating weighed it down considerably, and with a viscous crunch, the entire captain's cabin collapsed, fracturing as it fell and its interior flooding with water as it sunk down below the sea. The boarding party had completely blown open the rear end of Melville's prized warship.

Melville and Knife-Tongue, standing in the gaping hole (luckily, above the waterline...unlike the unfortunate Apocalypse) in the Magpie, tossed over several grappling hooks, latching onto the exposed interior of Melville's warship. Illdria leapt off the bow of the ship, grabbing onto the cable halfway and zipping onboard the Apocalypse, looking quite smug and victorious as she landed on her nemesis' vessel at last.

Knife-Tongue followed her down the zip line, then helped Melville pull a gangplank between the two ships. The latter started rolling barrels of gunpowder out of the Magpie and onto the Apocalypse at once. Illdria tossed an exceptionally violent-looking weapon over to Zasies.

"Well...this is really it, heroes. We flew a dragon into a fort that's not supposed to exist. We cleared out its worm infestation, knocked sense into its brainwashed guards, and killed a few vampires on the side, along with all of their undead. I can't think of anything that went down as I expected. And yet, somehow, we crippled all of Melville's plans, saved most of my crew, I've got my crappy, bullet-ridden ship back, and we're about to blow his impenetrable metal dreadnought into oblivion. The party moves forward, sweeping through the disturbingly empty hull of the Apocalypse, sloshing through shin-deep water now. But the bulkheads would block off the flood - it would take more than water to finish it. They reached a staircase, smoke clogging the air. The explosion has been choking many of the decks with the stuff. The fortress was in shambles - but it would up to the heroes and the time they could buy to put it out of its misery, and put to rest all the atrocities Melville has committed in his crusade.

They reach the top deck, drenched in the pouring rain. and turn around to face the rear of the dreadnought.

The admiral stands, face taut. The seagull is perched at his side faithfully. If he is aware of the ship burning behind him, he doesn't show it. The dawn has been clouded by the storm, but the flaming metal of the dying Apocalypse resists the downpour, as does its master.

The flaming wreckage behind him stirred, ashes shifting. A hollow skittering sound came from the flanks of the ship. Melville raised his hand. From the fire, from the water, from the sky, descended an army the scale of which the heroes have never stood against, dozens of undead, fresh and ancient, some with sea life still clinging to them, clawing their way from the sides of the ship or from the fires that raged behind it. Veken swooped back down and morphed back into vampire form, grinning in anticipation.

In spite of the army surrounding the party, Hybros grips his scythe and charges through the rain and smoke, running right up to Melville and smashing a jar of Tiger Bomb on him. He backs up and attacks the Ancient Skeleton Horde A with Zoot's Reaper. Then rushing over to the starboard front, throws a Baffle Bomb and attacks the Novice Legion from the back row with Justice.

He shouts over the pounding rain and sounds of battle. "Captain! See what you can do about our old friend Hrostulf. Zaises, those chemists are yours."

OOC: Will post a battle order once we have more actions. I didn't notice this before, but Hybros should be out his Baldur Bomb and one Holy Bomb, plus there are two Baffle Bombs listed separately, just so you know. What a battle! :sweet:

At first, Erik strides towards Melville, axe raised, but then when the undead hordes pour onto the deck he moves to stand next to Zasies.

"Might've finally found a fight worth your strength." He gives the berserker a kiss on the shoulder, before drawing Sleeper and stabbing at the Undead Crimson Sicarii Squad from the front row.

Can Soonavask be assassinated, and does his special ignore immunity to blinded?

Hybros grimaced. The undead Crimson Crown made sense if the man under the staircase brought many of his gang with him, but the appearance of the ressurected Moon Elves was disturbing. They were hard enough to beat the first time the imp faced them, but the fact that Melville could raise such creatures from deep below Eubric made the enemy seem more impossible.

Guts throws a Sleep Bomb at the port front before attacking Hrostulf from the back row with Mythril Edge. He then uses a Potion or Grand Potion as necessary.
