mmcclelland Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) Hi I have decided to create a custom minifigure of James Bond for each of the official films, which will eventually include the soon to be released Spectre. For each film, I am trying to recreate Bond's 'signature look' which is easier for some films than others, any ideas, comments and criticism is welcome. These are the ones completed so far, all are purist Dr. No Being the first film, I went for Bond's iconic tuxedo and, since the only guns are revolvers which don't really match what Bond uses, I have given him a Martini glass. From Russia with Love For most of the film, Bond wears a light grey suit and tie, this one I think is a good match. I have given him the sniper rifle he uses in the film and the brown suitcase represents the Lektor machine he is assigned to steal from the KGB. Goldfinger One of the most famous scenes in Goldfinger has Bond and the villain play a tense game of golf. The outfit here is very similar to Bond's but in the wrong colour, his sweater should be a dark red or brown, but I haven't found a better match so far. He is seen here holding the bar of Nazi gold he wagers against Goldfinger in the match. You Only Live Twice In You Only Live Twice, Bond must disguise himself as a Japanese fisherman in order to infiltrate Blofelt's base. I have recreated that look here with a black kimono and Japanese wig. While Bond himself does not actually wield a samurai sword in the film, several other characters do and it seemed a good fit. On Her Majesty's Secret Service The first film without Sean Connery, hence I have given Bond a different face and hair. For much of the story, Bond impersonates a Scottish Baronet, in appropriate attire. As he proposes marriage in the film, I have given him a wedding ring. Licence To Kill One of Timothy Dalton's two films sees Bond pitted against the evil drug dealer Franz Sanchez and cut off from MI6, so his sharp suits give way to more practical clothing. As the story revolves around drugs and money, including $5 million dollars Bond steals from Sanchez, Bond has a bank note here. These are all of the Bond's I have completed so far. Most of the other films are somewhere in the pipeline! mmcclelland Posted March 10, 2015 It's one of mine too! Along with From Russia with Love and Casino Royale, shame Lazenby never played Bond again
mmcclelland Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) Time for an update! Three more Bond's for you to enjoy, once again I am open to any suggestions for how to improve or for futre entries! Moonrkaer One of the more preposterous Bond films sees Bond, this time played by Roger Moore, blasted into outer space. I have used an old yellow space suit as the Moonrkaer jumpsuits worn in the film, I briefly considered making Bond flesh coloured in this figure, but decided against it. He is armed here with a Moonraker laser, though really it should be white or grey. The Living Daylights This time around, Timothy Dalton's Bond helps the Afghan resistance overthrow a Soviet airbase in Afghanistan, and wears the appropriate clothing. He should be armed with an AK-47 but I can't find a purist solution that looks close enough, any ideas are welcome! In the meantime I have given him the same sniper rifle piece as in From Russia with Love. Casino Royale Daniel Craig's first outing as Bond is grittier than most of the previous entries, and though he does wear his trademark Tuxedo for most of the film, I have given him the tough leather jacket he wears at the begining. His face is also more rugged than before and covered with bruises and scratches. As the film revolves around the poker tables, Bond has a hand of cards. Thanks again for looking and your kind comments! mmcclelland Posted March 18, 2015 Apologies for the lack of updates, I am waiting on some new parts to be delivered! In the meantime, two more Bond's are completed. The Spy who Loved Me This time around, Bond (Roger Moore) is searching for a missing nuclear submarine. As he visits a Royal Navy ship in the film, he wears his uniform as a Commander. I have recreated it here along with the case of sensitive documents he carries. For Your Eyes Only In For Your Eyes Only, Roger Moore's Bond is sent to the Mediterranean to recover the top secret ATAC device before the Russians. The film ends with an assault on the mountain stronghold of Aris Kirstatos, a traitorous Greek shipping magnate who has stolen ATAC, Like the Goldfinger minifigure, this jacket looks good but is the wrong colour. I have also given Bond a recreation of ATAC. So far I have ideas for all the films except A View to a Kill, Tomorrow Never Dies and Quantum of Solace, if anyone has any ideas for purist figs to represent them, please share! TeamStucky Posted March 31, 2015 I decided to play around on bricklink and eventually settled on the following for a Skyfall Bond: I wish that it didn't have a red tie because I was going for his outfit during the whole scene at Skyfall ranch where he wore a tie that matched his suit but this is the best I could do. Also the tan hands would have to go. Love your project and work
mmcclelland Posted March 31, 2015 Hey that's a nice idea for Skyfall! I'm going to do the very end during the battle with Silva when he wears a brown leather type coat, I'm hoping to post a picture of it soon!
Balbo Posted March 31, 2015 Very nice update! - My favourite is the Moonrkaer figure
JesterF Posted March 31, 2015 My suggestion is putting a nice background scene your minifigures deserve it
mmcclelland Posted March 31, 2015 Very nice update! - My favourite is the Moonrkaer figure Thanks, funny how the old spacesuit seems to fit for what they wore in the movie, the eyebrow is very Roger Moore! My suggestion is putting a nice background scene your minifigures deserve it I did consider it, but I thought it might be too distracting, so I photographed them against a white background. mmcclelland Posted April 2, 2015 Thanks everyone for your kind comments, I hope to post some more Bonds very soon!
rodiziorobs Posted April 3, 2015 The Moonraker fig is remarkably accurate, and your Timothy Dalton fig is pretty good as well. Love the ATAC, by the way. Looking forward to the next installment!
mmcclelland Posted April 8, 2015 Three more Bonds to enjoy! Thanks to everyone for your feedback so far! Goldeneye In Peirce Brosnan's first film, he is up against Alec Trevelyan, formally agent oo6, who has stolen access to a Soviet Satellite weapon codenamed Goldeneye. Bond confronts Trevelyan in the jungles of Cuba on his vast satellite dish. Bond is dressed in his camouflage fatigues and carries a length of chain, one of the weapons he uses in the brutal fight with his former friend. The World is Not Enough On the trail of Renard, a vicious terrorist who assassinated a wealthy oil tycoon, Bond finds himself in Kazakhstan and a facility which decommissions old nuclear weapons. Bond catches up with Renard, intending to execute him. Bond is wearing what I think is a good approximation of the uniforms worn the film and carries a silenced pistol, which I am now considering giving the Dr. No figure, though I like the idea of each Bond having something different. Skyfall The most recent film sees Bond returning to his childhood home, Skyfall Manor in the Scottish Highlands where he takes his boss, M to protect her from Raoul Silva, a former agent intent on killing her. He is dressed in the leather coat and scarf he wears in the final battle with Silva's men and is armed with one of the handful of weapons at his disposal, his father's antique shotgun. That's all I have so far, I am currently digging around my old Lego boxes for parts I know I have but can't quite seem to put my hands on which will allow me to finish some more Bonds! In the meantime any feedback is welcome! James Bond will return
mmcclelland Posted April 16, 2015 Some more Bonds to enjoy! Skyfall (Updated) I have changed the Skyfall figure with a different torso which incorporates the scarf and I think looks closer to the movie Thunderball This time around, Bond is in the Bahamas looking for two stolen atomic bombs. A large amount of the story takes place underwater so Bond is dressed in the wetsuit and scuba gear he wears (minus flippers) He has an underwater camera which, at the time was the cutting edge of technology, and one of the harpoon guns which feature prominently in the movie. Die Another Day Pierce Brosnan's final film opens with Bond being captured in North Korea and tortured. He is released fourteen months later, with long hair, beard and tattered clothes. Bond's beard is grey as I had trouble finding a head with a black beard that suited, it should also be longer and bushier but this is the best I had available. That's all for now, all comments and critique welcome! James Bond will Return
TheBigRedCheese Posted April 19, 2015 Personally, I prefer fleshies, but these look amazing! In terms of Bond's weaponary, personally, I think that custom weapons (3rd party, not knockoffs) would be the way to go, but there are some mediocre purist solutions that I've seen. Also, there are these clunky, nondescript automatic handguns that came in both Batman and Indiana Jones, with different barrel lengths. Batman's had short barrel lengths (found here: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=bb192), whilst the Indiana Jones' ones had longer, but still shortish barrel lengths (found here: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=62885), and then of course, they had these wacky things with huge barrels that resembled Tommy guns, and these came in various sets, Indiana Jones, Batman, Cars, Pharoh's Quest, and maybe some others I believe, and they can be found here: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=x1608. While we're on the subject of weaponry, there are some really nice swords in the Ninjago line, found here: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=S&catID=759. Also, for the Die Another Day version of Bond, there's a newish hairpiece that can solve your beard-hair coloring problem. It originally came with the Caveman in the first CMF series, and as far as I know, has not been used on anybody else, it's can be found here: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=87999. It's a bit bushy, and it clouds up most of the face, but I think that it might work okay for this. I would recommend using your other Pierce Brosnan head and this hair-beard thing for an ideal look. Keep up the great work! :)
mmcclelland Posted April 19, 2015 That's a great idea for Die Another Day, I missed out on a lot of early CMFs so I'll have to hit eBay for one, I need to pick up some other old CMFs for other Bonds anyway. In terms for weaponry I am sticking to purist items, mostly through stubbornness! But the Indiana Jones one is similar to the Uzis which appear in Goldeneye! I did seriously consider using flesh figures for these but I found more yellow heads which suited, though I do think that Moonraker would look better as fleshie! Thanks for all your advice, you've given me a lot to think about!

mmcclelland Posted May 14, 2015 Apologies for the lack of updates, but I am working on another minifigure project which I hope to start posting soon. In the meantime, here is another completed Bond. Live and Let Die In Roger Moore's first film, he is up against the evil Dr Kanaga and his henchman Baron Samedi across New York, New Orleans and the Caribean. I think this suit captures well the outfit Moore wears during a large portion of the film, particularly the sense at Kanaga's crocodile farm and during the boat chase. As the film features voodoo and black magic, Bond is holding the tarot cards which feature in the plot. Enjoy! As always, comments, feedback and suggestions for improvements or future Bonds most welcome! James Bond will Return

mmcclelland Posted May 29, 2015 It has been a while since I posted my Live and Let Die figure, I am currently trying to get some rarer parts to help finish some more Bonds (like the Tarrot cards) I am currently working on a new project which I am posting very soon, life and work commitments permitting!
