By the end of 2026 TLG will retire literally every Technic construction vehicle. Even the 42215 Volvo excavator will be retired 7 months earlier compared to the initial plan. Volvo front loader, Volvo truck+excavator

Could it be that the Volvo license is running out and Lego has some new license for similar vehicles next year that doesn't allow them to have both at the same time (some exclusivity deal)?

I don't know. Maybe sets are not reaching sales milestones. Flood of cars is showing that different licenses can cooexist. Some brand should pour a lot of money for exclusivity, time will tell.

The car licenses are virtually never exclusive, or are exclusive to a very specific vehicle. It would be shocking if that was the issue.

I’m guessing the reason 42215 is retiring early is because seemingly no one liked it.

Given TLG are happy with releasing the same sets in different colours or sets only a few years after a previous version, it would be great if for 2027, they released updated versions of some of the "classic" sets from the past :) Maybe, pick one from each of the last 5 decades?

8043
8010
8258

Other than 42242, 2026 has not been great from my POV, I am now tracking down some older sets.

Releasing a recolored set needs almost no work from Lego. Past set would require Lego to update them to modern standards.

Apart from that: first, all remote controlled non-car sets are excluded (unless Lego introduces new motor system, as Powered Up seems to be discontinued). Second, all frame-like cars are excluded too, as only limited number of customers would be interested in such "ugly" (for today's standards) model, and reworking them into fully panelled version would make them totally different from original version. What is left are famous sets like 8868 Air Tech Claw Rig, maybe 8480 Space Shuttle, 8110 Mercedes-Benz Unimog U400 (but we just had something similar),  maybe 9397 Logging Truck. Others might be to recent and not so much "historical" to be part of the 50th anniversary. So being very optimistic, I would guess we can get renewed 8868 Air Tech Claw Rig.

I think this is enough "historical" model. Considering this set also 30th anneiversary on next year. Only downside powered up system is discontinued.

Yeah, that would be great, but Lego just abandoned Mindstorms, discontinues Spike, there is no developed studdless robotic system, so hopes are rather low :( .

Just looked up Promobricks and they don't even list the 42238 Ducati anymore... hast the bike been delayed to 2027?

I don't know if that list is anything to go by as the 1:8 supercar hasn't been listed, either.

There was news earlier this year that “many” 2026 sets were being delayed by several months - but little in the way of specifics. The specific sets we did hear (some Pokemon, Sagrada Família) were the bigger ones. Might be the issue here too.

PB is not an up to date information source. Brickmerge has all the details for an August release which come from retailers.

Ah ok, thanks guys. Was worried we are missing out on something that is not a car :D

EDIT - the sets didn't arrive, so my June Technic/Speed Champions set reviews will only come next week when I'll be able to purchase them locally.

So in the end did the sets arrive at all?

The June 1st Technic sets arrived yesterday, and two F1 helmets arrived today (hooray). I have a whole bunch of half-built and unfilmed projects and constantly trying to juggle them... it's a bit frustrating.

No wonder you had to open a recruiting process to lighten the load. Best of luck with that!

Thanks. If the review sets were sent on time, it would be much easier.

That is understandable. I am hanging out for your review on 42242, but understand you have a bunch to deal with.

Here is an update

I agree that Madoca's creations are better than many Technic cars, these kind of mechanisms are IMO essence of Technic, and also the connector heavy and flextube body appeals to me.

I was really interested in Technic after re discovering it after "dark ages" around 2015-2016, my first model after childhood was Porsche set 42056. Then quickly getting Arocs, BWE, Claas and Volvo EW160. But after that Technic line seems geared more towards visual looks and forgetting genius use of gears and linkages. Maybe TLG hoped with release of PU to transfer mechanics to coding, but if i would like to code there would be more cheaper and better alternatives. I just want to plug in power and see gears roll and do stuff :D

Thanks buddy but I was simply referring to RacingBrick briefing us about his H2 Technic sets review status hidden in the video.
