I do like that we've been getting more location builds for Spider-Man sets this year instead of the random Spider-vehicles that felt like they dominated the line for a while. Definitely feels more fitting for Peter "Late on Rent" Parker, and the buildings could be fun to display together. Even the train would be pretty easy to fit into a display with the rest of the 2025 sets. Hopefully these location builds will continue to be the main approach used for future Spider-Man sets.

In German, there’s a saying: those declared dead live longer :snicker: What an awesome comeback for the theme! Easily one of the stronger waves in quite some time, on many levels. If only DC got some love too!

Just saw the official pictures and interiors on brickset.

Peter Parker's Apartment : Okay it's quite shallow but Lego utilized the space pretty well with his microsope,  camera development area (?) and fold down bed. It feels quintessential peter parker and cheap New York apartment. The references are nice and love that Pete can be upside down with Marry Jane below. What a delightful callback.

Oscorp:  The interior of the buildings feel empty in comparison. Most of the rooms don't have much going on such as Gwens little apartment. Love Eddie's Brock room and like how two of the room's are dedicated to Norman's goblin activities. It's nice that the goblin glider can be stored and the play function to switch Norman into the goblin, while simple, is well incorporated. It does confirm that this is another Norman Ozborn goblin which makes the decision to go with Harry's ultimate goblin look. The figure looks great though. Love Kraven's torso. As far as reusing the Doc Strange face, I don't mind it. Honestly the face bears more more of a likeness to a comic Kraven the Hunter than Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor strange.

Quinjet:  Now that there's a better look at the figures Ultron and quicksilver look great. Love their designs. I don't know how I fill about the hair piece they chose for Quicksilver though. The piece they used in 2015 better suited the character.

Spiderman train: I didn't notice that Spiderman's suit is torn or that he has a new face print. Love the figure even more.  They didn't cheap out there which is a nice change ( especially considering Lego's track record as of late)

This wave is great. Just too expensive.

Surprised by how much I like the chitauri gorilla set. I imagine the price will be horrendous but I'll try and pick it up on discount

New Marvel sets are definitely an improvement on first Hal for year sets, but still we get a lot of misses here along with great hits.

So let’s get price out of the way: all of those sets are very overpriced, some more then other.

Spider-Man 2 set is amazing! Lego actually tried with this one?! New Dock Ock and Tobey Spidey along with Aunt May and Jameson. Must buy day one!!!

Peters apartment set looks really good but not for 50$. Reused Spidey and Antivenom make mech set obsolete. New MJ looks really nice(LEGO actually tried to make her good) and Hobgoblin is great. The only issue for me is rubber cape instead of cloth. Overall nice set would be a good buy at 40$.

Oscorp building set looks dope except for 2 unnecessary smaller buildings next to it. I feel like those pieces could have been used to make Oscorp labs better. The figure selection is good for the most part. Eddie Brock with venom head is a brilliant addition here! New Kraven looks good but still worse than 2016 one. New Norman Osborne look nice not sure about reusing HP head as he’d need more sinister looking face to represent Norman’s evil side. New Green Goblin is a unique take on character for sure but I need hd pics to make a final judgement but Ninjago hood piece reuse look solid on him. 130$ though is a highway robbery for this set. 100$ would be good price but at 130$ I’m waiting for decent sale.

AoU Quinjet looks good , but maybe too much red on it compared to the film version. That stand looks amazing though and very sturdy compared to last years Milano stand. New Ultron looks even better than 2015 one! Same MK 43 Iron Man and Hawkeye are appropriate here. Black Widow though is everything wrong with Marvel these days! Like how did they screw it up so badly? They had accurate AoU Black Widow in last years diorama set! Why not use that minifig here where it makes sense? But instead Lego reused CW airport version and it’s terrible. At 120$ it’s a rough set, need good discount here.

Endgame set with Thor and Iron Patriot is a mixed bag for me. As a figure pack other than Thor everyone else is good here! For once fat Thors face is accurate to the scene, but they screwed up torso and hairpiece. How did Lego make accurate version of this Thor in 2021 but makes way worse one 4 years later? All they had to do is reuse 21 Thor here! 4 Chitauri are nice but can we at least get Chitauri with face plates down like they were back in 2012 Avengers sets? New Rocket Raccoon is nice not sure about dark blue color scheme here, but Iron Patriot MK 2 is amazing! I expected Lego to just reuse April version of the character here but they did put an effort here. So overall good set but should not be more than 45$.

Iron man 2 set has great find but bad Hammer drones build, need a sale to get this one.

And that 4+ Cap vs Thanos set is the biggest ripoff of the year(and it has a lot of competition). Lego wasted print budget here on new Cap torso when they couldn’t bother to make I don’t know his Endgame torso again? At 40$ it’s gonna collect dust on store shelves for most of the year.

Woooww, what a wave!

There are quite a few surprises, right?
I certainly don't recall hearing anything about the Thor vs. Chitauri set (which looks amazing, btw  ) or Captain America vs Thanos (which seems kinda random, with the plane and all, but hey)

The Spider-Man sets all look very sleek. Interesting characters (love the new hoodpiece on the Hobgoblin), great builds...

The Iron Man & War Machine vs. Hammer Drones is a bit odd, build-wise, but somehow I kinda like it. Might pick it up, if anything for the new Mk.VI minifig :sweet:

Mitch

Looks to me like the apartment building and Oscorp tower should both connect to the spiderverse set?

Was looking at the pictures again and had a thought.

What if the designer intent is not to put Peter Parker’s apartment on top of the Spiderverse Bodega, but to take Miles’ apartment from above the jewellery shop in Oscorp and put it on top of the Bodega? It looks like it’s the right size and they both have dark red walls.

Hey, even if we revert back to silly Spidey vehicles after this, I still see this wave as an absolute win  In terms of comic-based Spidey sets, this is at least on par with the 2016 2HY wave to me (coincidentally, with some of the same characters even!). And the Spidey 2 set is an instant classic!

I quite like the sets! Not a big fan of the facade buildings as a concept but might get them on sale. Such a shame they weren't brave enough to give Norman Osborn his signature waves.

I think this wave is a HUGE step forward compared to recent previous waves, but it still just feels like a step to me

I've been thinking for ages that there should be more playsets, and more comic based playsets - in my experience as a previous child and seeing what my young siblings and their friends play with, locations are almost always preferred for play with superhero characters, and to me it seems that kids don't really have an attachment to the MCU unless their older family are already invested. More bright, fun versions of these characters, without ties to some movie they haven't watched, is great. More locations for superheroes and villains to fight in is great.

The figures and the prices are just insane, though. It's not enough to have lackluster selections, we apparently have to remove elements of figures that were previously better? (Peter and Julia both lost their dual molding, despite those pieces being on-shelves and in production RIGHT NOW)

Hobgoblin is great. Wish he had dual molded boots too, but it's whatever. He has really fantastic recolours and the printing on him is exceptionally well designed. Kraven looks good. Ultimate Goblin looks great too! That's kinda it. If we're gonna be paying, what, 130 bucks for the Oscorp set, they REALLY gotta do better on the minfigures.

Not to mention that the high prices are just an obvious barrier to kids, who are seemingly the absolute primary target for these small buildings. Dumb move.

I do think this micro marvel modular street concept is great though, I hope it's expanded on and keeps improving.

I swear to god, now that I have actual money to afford the sets they look even more expensive than they did when I had no money haha

Truer words have nary been spoken.

Though we still don't have UK prices so I'm (foolishly) hoping there not too bad.

I like Peter’s apartment and the train scene actually looks good. Doc Ock is thankfully not that awful NWH version and I actually think the dark brown was the right choice.

The rest of the sets are gonna be a pass from me. Oscorp looks fine, but the figures are a mixed bag (Kraven is good, but that’s gotta be the worst Green Goblin we’ve ever gotten).

Now this is a step in the right direction for Lego Marvel. A lot of these sets seem to have some real thought put into them and it shows.

- Spider-Man 2 Set: Very happy to see Spidey and Doc Ock aren’t straight up reuses, great minifigures and it’s awesome to get May and JJJ here too. I was initially apathetic about this set but I’m sold here.

- Oscorp and Pete’s Apartment: These are exactly the sort of location-oriented sets we need for Spider-Man. I do wish they had some more depth to them but they work well as playsets. Not a fan of continuing to downgrade minifigures when superior versions already exist though.

- AoU Quinjet: Sold. Great shaping and colours and Ultron looks spot-on. Not sure why Black Widow is inaccurate though…

- Hammer-oid Attack: This really should have had a small zen garden build and the Hammer Drones should have been much smaller. I love the scene though so I’ll be picking this up.

As much as I don’t like the continuing compromises being made with minifigures, I applaud this wave for overturning how poor the first half of the year has been.

Absolutely not. Over the moon excited for this movie.

Iron Patriot vs Chitauri looks epic. $55 is too high, but army-building Chitauri is a win in my book. Seeing Iron Patriot Mk II… fantastic. (Yoinks, I’m running low on superfluous adjectives.) With that Thor and navy-blue Rocket, it might be a pick up.

Peter’s Apartment is, hm, amazing? Price may be high but I don’t care—I love this set and I will have it as well. A comic-adjacent MJ is a win. Hobgoblin with the Moon Knight hood is breathtakingly brilliant. Near-perfect balance between great minifigs and wonderful build, even if a bit small. My previous comment on price aside, I think its a decent value as far as the new cycle of overpriced LEGO.

“Character Actor Alfred Molina takes public transit” and “Eviction Notice” sets (thanks @Mandalorianknight) are a definite pickup, no questions asked. AoU Quinjet is dependent on its discount (as a frame of reference, I only got the ‘23 Quinjet at $60) but a high priority. Rest are lesser in priority and very dependent on good discounts.

Yeah, $55 is a bit much for the big battle pack, but not as outrageous as I was expecting. That might be a pickup just off the standard 20% discount, even if they went with a mole thing instead of a gorilla thing like they should have.

Yeah Peter's apartment isn't that bad- another one where I'll be waiting for 20%, but I feel like that's how my plans have been for most lego sets this year anyway. Only one I got without a discount was the Ultron mech.

No problem, always happy to help. Lego, if you want me as your set-naming guy, I'm open. Better names than "Iron Man^tm in an Iron Man Car^tm vs Black Panther^tm in a Black Panther Jet^tm vs Red Hulk^tm, I guarantee you that. I can also stop referencing other IPs in the sets if that's necessary (except for Hunt for Raymond Reddington that one is non-negotiable)

I don't know, I think it's a pretty uninspired set. I think it's real number one flaw is how uninspired the base concept is, we don't need another Spider-man 2 train, the budget should have gone to a more original idea. Like a hulkbuster or an endgame final battle, those would be a shot in the arm for the theme.

Those are awful ideas- what we really need are more vehicles for spider man. How else will he traverse the city?

Spider-Man regularly fights Venom, who is literally an alien, and yet he doesn’t have a rocket ship. Why is that? Is he stupid?

I'm loving the "Modular NYC" thing going on here and I hope they keep going, maybe expanding to Defenders somehow?

Nelson, Murdock, and Page/Josie’s. Minifigures include: Foggy Nelson, Matt Murdock, Karen Page, Daredevil, Bullseye, and some civilians. Includes a fun feature where Dardevil can leap off the roof of Josie’s and swing safely around, similar to the function for Spider-Man on the top of the bridge battle set. I’m sure many fans of Daredevil would buy that set for their children.

Looking at Peter's apartment more, I'm noticing there's a black element on the roof that appears to be the balcony that can be attached over the front door for if you attach the apartment to the bodega.

Just came out of Thunderbolts*—wow, Marvel finally decided to make a good movie! And it's not just good, it's quite possibly my favourite MCU movie, with the exception of the Guardians trilogy. I'll need to sleep on it, but man, amazing experience.

Even more painful that that's the moment LEGO decided not to make sets for new superhero movies... I'm still crying about this movie and Superman getting nothing. I'd easily sacrifice the Fantastic Four set for a Thunderbolts one.

Now's that an outstanding wave of sets! The concept of City theme meets Marvel theme is great imo, as gives us the opportunity to build your own city for a more affordable price than the big modular sets (Ninjago, modulars and superhero D2Cs). I know everything is expensive proportionally, but at least to me 76317 feels more worth than 76309, for instance. I'm getting good figs and a building which looks good on display, and the Venom car just does not offer that. The train set is superb, and 76322 might be the best of these portal sets.

Some highlights:

- MJ with red hair

- Eddie with Venom ooze

- Aunt May and JJJ in the train

It occurred to me now: City this year is very vehicle focused, due to F1 sets. So Marvel became building focused. Everything is balanced, as it should be.
