I hope their designs are over the top to make them more interesting than just evil copies of them. Something like the ninja fused with the elemental monsters would be really cool. Quote

Hoping that they handle the idea of doppelganger ninjas like what Fortnite did for their Ninjago crossover, cuz if it's one per ninja, that kinda sucks Quote
Meaf Posted June 15 Posted June 15 One doppelganger per ninja would be interesting but I feel like that would eat up so much of the prints budget unless they're reusing parts from the regular ninjas. Maybe they'd do them like the Forbidden Five and split them up over winter and summer though, I guess that'd still allow for some basic villains too. Quote

Rolyat24 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Disappointing that the only real hint we get at next year’s villains/plot is the “Evil Cole” minifig. I think Dreamzzz did the evil doppelgänger thing well, but I’m not sure it would be as effective in Ninjago where so many of the main character designs are intentionally similar. The designers have been knocking it out of the park recently with transforming mechs, so I’m looking forward to seeing what these look like. Shame we’re getting yet another fire dragon. Let’s see a dragon for a new element or ninja. Quote

Murdoch17 Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Maybe it's the return of the Evil Ninja from Season 2 (or was it 3?) of the show? They were wished into existence by Garmadon by using the golden mega weapon, and were "poofed" out of existence by the ninja by just touching them, as strange as that sounds. It was a weird episode... If so, I can't believe we get those guys back before the Time Twins! Quote
Rolyat24 Posted July 10 Posted July 10 There’s an unverified blurry prototype leak floating around on Reddit. Appears to be a small red temple on top of a large rock base with a golden fish(?) build on top. Minifigures of Jin and Mira are shown (and maybe two gray minifig statues?). Obviously it doesn’t match any descriptions or set names we’ve seen so far, and it’s in the Legends line, so it definitely could be fake. On the other hand, it doesn’t seem like it’s AI generated, so maybe it is real. There were several larger sets without names yet in the 2027 winter wave, so maybe Legends is continuing in the 1HY wave? If it is real, it looks both expensive and beautiful! Quote

Fingers crossed that the leak is legitimate, because it is a BEAUTIFUL build. Makes sense for Legends to start focusing on location-oriented builds as well. Quote
Renny The Spaceman Posted July 18 Posted July 18 I wonder how Dragon's Rising stuff has sold relative to the Ninjago before it. Because a big part of Ninjago beforehand was major rebranding each wave, especially clear with the 2019-2022 stuff, but they've more or less had the same basic aesthetic for 4 years now. Quote
Rolyat24 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Here’s the latest January 2027 list from Unibricks: 71873: Cole vs. Evil Cole Spinner | $9.99 71875: Lloyd vs. Ras Spinner Battle | $19.99 71876: Kai's Red Fire Dragon | $19.99 71877: Jay's Transforming Jet | $39.99 71879: Zane's Transforming Mech | $49.99 71880: Arin's Transforming Bike | $9.99 71881: Kai's Dual Pull-Back Racers | $69.99 71882: Gardoz the Transforming Dragon | $99.99 71883: Destiny's Bounty | $139.99 71889: Earth Mech Battle Unit | $69.99 They really are going all-in on the transforming vehicles this year. And with another Bounty, this is shaping up to be another typical Ninjago year. Hopefully Gardoz is cool, it at least jumps out as a villain set. Fingers crossed that with the supposed evil ninja theme we can finally get a dark bounty, at least to change things up from the same ship every two years. There’s also a rather vague rumor out there that something will change that fans won’t like. Could be the addition of Smart Bricks, or a change in the minifig lineup, or who knows what. Quote
Takanuinuva Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Considering this is the start of the last year for Dragon's Rising. Could Gardoz be Ras' Master? Quote

Has season 5 being the final year been confirmed anywhere? As far as I’ve seen, there’s been some speculation but no confirmation from the company or creators. It would make sense that we’re getting close to the end of the Ras storyline, seeing as 5 years is a long time to be teasing a big bad. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Glad to see how affordable this wave is, or at least how many smaller sets we're getting. It looks like the motive is transforming vehicles and evil ninja? Cool, can't wait to see the sets. Quote

Though depending on how its selling. They could extend it to more. Would be a bit rushed if Ras got 4 more Source Dragon Icons in just one season. Quote

I stand corrected - it was apparently confirmed today at SDCC that season 5 will be the final season of Dragons Rising, but that annual 20-episode seasons of Ninjago will continue beyond that. I wonder what will happen to the new characters? Quote

I wonder what will happen to the new characters? I reckon the new ninja team members will stay on as relative mainstays, but the more important DR side characters might start to fade into the background a bit more. I mean there wasn't much of a drastic change in character lineup between Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitsu and Ninjago (11 minute era) I reckon the change over between DR and whatever follows will be similar. Hopefully we'll get more set variety again. DR had some great sets but the general lack of villain sets and the reduced seasonal theming variety compared to the 11 minute era did make for slightly more repetitive set line ups (though the build quality of the sets themselves has never been higher). I hope we get more legacy in the in-between time between DR and whatever follows, with the Lloyd mech showing that 11 minute era legacy sets are on the table a legacy Grief Bringer would be awesome, though they could also just bring shintaro and the related characters back to the forefront in a future season. THELEGOBATMAN Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Uh-oh, it seems the rumours were true... we're getting SMART Ninjago next year. I hate this timeline. Quote

Well as long as they don't make anything too cool exclusive to the smart sets. And the smart sets might still be good ones without the brick, Pokémon mostly managed that even though SW failed. Quote

Not only is it Slop Bricks shoved into sets, but it's also Slop Figures too damaging reusability of Torso's as the backs will have the warning details. The only way out of this is not to buy them, don't support them at all, encourage others not to buy them. If sales drop then combined with hopefully poor sales of the other Smart Brick themes then we might be free of them by 2028. If you support them Ninjago as a theme is dead. Quote
FinlayTheFaithful Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Where is this news about the theme using smart bricks coming from? Quote
Agent Kallus Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Do we know when the Ninjago City Workshops is schedule to retire? It's the only Ninjago City set I don't have so I'd like to pick it up before it retires but my budget isn't too hot ATM so I'd rather wait and something else for the now if I can but if it's retiring soon then it'd be cheaper to pick up before it's retired rather than once it's out of production.
