I very much liked the forestmen minifigures back in the day, but the black trees - yikes. The good people of the forest aka Robin Hood and company were frequent guests in my children's room in the 90s.

Yup, same here. The Forrestmen minifigs are cool. I really liked them as a kid but the trees.... I never understood back then why they were not brown. It was an available color after all in the eighties. Same applies for the siege weapons.

In Castle sets I prefer black trees. In reality many trees are actually quite dark, especially old trees.

More like dark green /kaki /olive green something

What we probably need is a new brownish grey or sand brown colour, but it's unlikely to happen, given that the LEGO palette tends towards more intense colours.

Many trees in the US have greyish bark.  Birch trees are white with black lines.  Some trees are brown in color it all depends.

So, Krakens I feel is a very unique sub theme - mostly Castles, but part-Vikings and part-Pirates.

What unique sub themes would you want Lego to explore? What's on your wishlist?

For me, I have two:

One is a desert-based faction. I think Snake would have been a good faction for this!

Second is an Eastern-based group. Could be Oriental-inspired (Japanese/ Chinese/ maybe even Russian).

According to local folklore the European oak tree was the hideout for Robin Hood and his merry men. And the oak tree was also a religious symbol in pre Christian times in Celtic Europe. So the trees should be that color for the Forrest men.

There is allready a lot of suggestions that Dustmark Keep of BDP series 8 should be the perfect set for the snake faction

It would be great to have some Castles minifigs with a different style headgear and more intricate and exotic torso prints! Quickly googling, some of the headgears look like the Laketown guard from The Hobbit set.

I really hope they don't do a  "baseplate" remake like Eldorado style.

Depends on how they do it to me. Sure rockwork will always use more stones than a simple castle wall, but overall they could build it so that you have a lot space inside to feature a dungeon, the treasure and weapon chambers etc. The main thing I would object against with a built undersection is that we would need a ramp for the entrance of the castle, which is still the only part of the LKC that I don´t like. And all ramps including the Lion Knights Castle, Eldorado Fortress and the moulded baseplates are actually way to steep - so if they would omit the rocky section, I wouldn´t be all against it, though, if they were going to go for a remake of the Black Knights Castle, I would guess there is no way they won´t include it.

How's the general opinion on black castles? I must admit, even as a kid I disliked them very much and that opinion has not changed ever since. I know it's a toy, but black castles look so unrealistic.

I prefer the classic grey castle generally, but in the end it will depend on the look of the castle - and the Black Knights castle looked really great, for me definitely the best black castle that Lego made. And especially it isn´t just a plain black castle, but there are a lot accents that prevent the castle from looking plain an boring.

That's why I would hope they add a front-bridge type of ramp, that resembles Wolfpack Tower (unless it gets it's own set), instead of carbon copy a baseplate ramp of Black Knight's Castle, as Black Knights were so much more then that 1 set, and ground level gates were part of the faction, even Black Knight's Castle, the gate is ground level, but also Black Monarch's and Knight's Stronghold.

A real candidate for a big castle on top of a hill would be Fire Breathing Fortress, or even further down the line, something Royal Knight-ish, and then the very tall tower style of castle with Fright Knights. If they go that far down with Icons sets.

And there will be Sea Serpent ship as a gwp next year and there are several hints here and there (for example redesigned black knight shield in LKC manual)… so we just pondering the question “what if”? ;)

I don't count gwp as a set. And the Majisto workshop was a huge letdown. Did we get large dragon shields, dragon plumes and dragon hellmets? Nope.

Don't expect much next year and save yourself from dissapointment.

Pokémon will be the next main thing Lego is going to focus on next year. Alongside with Starwars and Harry Potter ofcourse. :shrug_confused:

Well there is still the chance we also get a new inhouse theme. But even then, I wouldn´t expect it to be castle.

Only interested in castle. And a bit of pirates and classic space as well. The themes that made the eighties so great.

Well the chance at least is, depending on whatever they do, that there will be references to those themes - and who knows maybe they make a time travelling theme, where they travel to medieval times, the future and so on. We will see whenever the first rumours show up - if there actually even is a new inhouse theme.

Ah well, if nothing comes out  that interests me, I will save money. And there are some cool castles I have interest in at BDP.

Yeah Dreamzzz, Monkie Kid and Hidden Side try/tried to be too much at the same time, ending up in a lot of things all over the place.

The last time an action theme had a superb wave of sets was the Ninjago dungeon wave, the mech was completely optional, and it had an amazing dungeon and skeleton dragon.

Now even Ninjago went back to it's multicolored mech/dragon blend, while they look cool by themselves, as a theme it's still all over the place.

I agree with Ninjago. I want to like it, and find some of the individual sets good, but it doesn't feel massively cohesive. Whereas Dreamzzz, Monkie Kid, and Hidden Side's waves all do link together a reasonable way for me. I prefer them all over the average Ninjago wave.

If Dreamzz did a few castle sets I could imagine they'd be really cool. A nightmare castle or tower could be awesome. They've already done a few bits and pieces related to castle. 40657 Dream Village looks great, but is far too small. 71486 Castle Nocturnia I really like, but it's expensive for what it ends up being, although I would definitely get it on a decent sale. It could have potential, but it's a shame it's ending.

Having said all that though, they don't need to shoehorn castle stuff into other themes. I think a steady state of one or two castle sets per year would likely satisfy a lot of people and provide a sustainable line for LEGO without people being overwhelmed.

This particular set is listed as LEGO exclusive, and the only other site that has a price, says  it will release August 1st 2025 (The set released August 1 2024), so it's probably timed exclusive  for a year in my country, so big sales won't happen yet (maybe at end-of year when it supposed to retire)

I really enjoyed the first wave of Monkie Kid. It felt so refreshing and fun. It's up there for me as one of the best waves ever. Dreamzzz didn't deliver on my expectations. I was really hoping for more "castle" elements. Just like Nexo Knights it just didn't scratch an itch. I agree with you about Ninjago. I had some insider points to burn and all the sets were honestly eyesores bar a few.

Yes, it's the same for me (in the US).  But some of the other Dreamzz sets have gone on sale from LEGO, so that's what I'm hoping for. Perhaps a Black Friday sale.

Never understood Dreamzzz. Seems like it was a theme conceived by someone on magic mushrooms. Although the theme gave us some interesting minifig parts though.

I have to appreciate Monkie Kid for at least being based on some sort of literature or legend, albeit loosely.
