City 2010

Recommended Posts

I'm still hoping for LEGO City Zoo! LEGO has made enough animals throughout the years now to make a zoo.

I would like a zoo too. With different animal houses/gardens which are modular, so you can collect your zoo, animal by animal.

But a bank would be nice also.

Edit: 2000th post, I'm a duke. :grin:

'Damin' I think that building is only used by Lego for advertsing purposes. Though saying that a copy of it as a Cafe Corner style building would be interesting and a very nice addition to fire house, green grocer and department store. I feel that we need more City Corner style buildings for their playablity and that classic Lego look. And not just banks, a post office and other kinds of shop/businesses would be nice.

Hey, a convenience store with gas/petrol pumps would be good too !

I thought that at the time, it is just unussual for lego to use it three times in plain sight in the same item, oh I wish they could release that as a set/exclusive

Ah, yes 'Damin' but the bank is same not the scene around it. Lego have a city which is used for filming/photographing City adverts and it's buildings can be rearranged the way they like for filming or taking photos of a scene.

On a different matter, but still related to our topic here - We have not heard anything about mid-year releases ?

We know what's comming up for Star Wars, Toy Story, etc., but not City.

Thank you very much for this price information, The Cobra! :classic:

He wrote so in the topic for new 2010 sets and themes.

There he wrote that in 2010 there will be new City themes and City Trains.

So:

-January: "new" theme: Fire

-April: "new" theme: Airport

-summer: new Trains theme

Of course the Airport and the Fire theme are really not new themes but only new sets - but for TLG new themes in the way that there is a new line of sets.

Besides there haven't been more than three complete subthemes a year - so we regrettably can't expect more regular sets apart from the sets for the first half of 2010 (we already know) and the summer sets.

In the topic "Which will be next for trains?" someone stated already some time ago that there may be two new trains (supposably a cargo train set and a passenger train set), a train level crossing and a train station - which does imo sound very supposably. :thumbup:

But for not regular sold bigger civilian sets (such as e. g. bank or post office) it does look very bad. :sadnew:

Klaus-Dieter

I think you are confused, Klaus. Fire and Airport are not new themes, so why would it make any sense to call it a completely new theme? And plus, most of the Fire sets are coming out soon and it would make no sense to call these subthemes new because they have been rehashed at least once each.

Danke!

What about this one? (1997)

As a City fan please don't remind me of those mess of years... City Center.... *shivers*

We haven't even seen pictures of Grand Emporium that's to be released in March, and that's only 3 months...

That is because it's an exclusive set, there is no need for LEGO to release the pictures ahead of times. LEGO only releases pictures so stores know what the new sets will be.

By the way... Has TLG officially confirmed that 'The Grand Emporium' will be released? Or is it still a 'rumour'?

I thought someone who works for LEGO gave the info. I guess it won't really be confirmed until LEGO releases info with pictures.

Sorry, 'Cian' but I just checked Bricklink inventory list for 5898 and NO one-piece car chassis. You build it up with the usual plates.

Oh well, not as big a nostalgia trip for me then! That said, I'm a hypocrite on that cause I hate one-piece chassis on 6 wide vehicles.

I hope these haven't been posted before:

From another toy shop on the internet: prices for the other City sets:

3178 - Lego Seaplane 8.57 € => 10 Euros

3179 - Lego Rapair Truck 11.17 € => 12 Euros

3180 - Lego Tank Truck 17.73 € => 20 Euros

3181 - Lego Passanger Plane 31.52 € => 35 Euros

3182 - Lego Airport 87.30 € => 90 Euros

7684 - Lego Pig Farm & Tractor 27.01 € => 30 Euros

Imo these prices are quite ok. :classic:

Btw: I can't await to hear what we'll get in summer for sets. It's really a pity that TLG doesn't let us know - not even some hints!

Nope, they are all do out in February-March.

Thanks!

Which also confirms summer releases!

Civilian sets would be nice, as I think the opening 2010 City wave is not amazing.

There are some cool ones like the Octan Tanker, Light Repair Truck, Pig Pen and Impulses.

EDIT: Also forgot about the TRU Exclusive (Transport, Truck Stop or Town Center) and City Trains (Rumored to be 2 Trains, Station and Level crossing)! So 2010 will be a good year after all :tongue:

Light Repair Truck, conversions was $19, actual price around $15 I think

Octan Tanker, $22, actual price probably $20
