  1. I don't know if this has been done before here or somewhere else, but I thought it could be fun! Just post some pics of your Castle army. You can include old skellies in there too! The best way to do this is always in some kind of diorama! So, let's see some armies! :skull: I might post mine soon as well!
  2. Hi all, I've finished a few tutorials and instructions over the last couple of months, and I wanted to share them with you in a single post. They're mostly for medieval builds, which is what I've been focusing on. To keep the post from getting overloaded with images, I've linked to the tutorials directly. It seemed like the best way, so I hope it's okay with everyone. Enjoy! (And I'd love to hear your feedback!) Instructions: (Wizard Hat) Fountain I was looking for the right pieces to create the water when I happened to find the wizard's hat. It's like fate - sometimes things just fall into place. https://www.instagram.com/p/DOJZOhHjGla/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-231712/montymatte/wizard-hat-fountain/#details Instructions: Small Boat It's nothing fancy, but hopefully it's helpful for some of you. https://www.instagram.com/p/DNQvWPPMffu/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-232061/montymatte/small-boat/#details Tutorial/Technique: Archway The special thing, besides the snot technique, is that the studs of the archway are visible from both sides. This ensures that the MOC looks attractive from all sides. (BTW. This is not a wall technique. The wall was only built to complete the tutorial https://www.instagram.com/p/DEdBAQSo9N0/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-207112/montymatte/techniquestutorials-archway/#details Tutorial/Technique: Half-timbered Wall Well suited for medieval buildings. The gaps around the macaroni tiles create a used look. Of course, this is just a tutorial and an idea of how to build something. Be creative and individual, and adapt it to your MOC. https://www.instagram.com/p/DENPmq8NxUq/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-205222/montymatte/tutorialtechniques-half-timbered-wall/#details Instructions: Acorn An ordinary acorn, which was built a few years ago for my Willow project. Decorative in my opinion. https://www.instagram.com/p/C9c3jEwoOrD/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-189742/montymatte/an-ordinary-acorn/#details Instructions: Mini Ents "Hroom, hm, come, my friends. The Ents are going to war. It is likely that we go to our doom. The last march of the Ents."..Hopefully you have fun with the instructions for my Mini Ents. They were once part of a LegoIdeas Challenge. Maybe you can expand the gang with your own creations. https://www.instagram.com/p/C7pAHiYo_WS/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Instructions: Cow Cart (Ok...It's an ox!) More focused on design than playability. I particularly enjoyed incorporating the sausages and hats. https://www.instagram.com/p/C5-xdcqLcnO/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-181085/montymatte/cow-cart/#details Tutorial/Technique: Wall A little trickier than the roof (below), but you can do it! 💪 https://www.instagram.com/p/C5EU57lLlHk/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Tutorials/Technique: (Cobblestone) Path A lot of bricks needed, but I think a nice result. https://www.instagram.com/p/C5eCD4_rz5A/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Tutorials/Technique: Roof (This roof technique is expressly not mine. I found it on Flickr a few years ago) https://www.instagram.com/p/C4vvp3yL9I8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== --- Well, that's all for now. I hope there's something in there for everyone! Talk to you all later. All the best, Tobi aka MM
  3. Built for MELO round 2, a 16*16 vignette. The prompt was to represent a given one of the free peoples of Middle Earth. I got Hobbits, and chose to depict Merry having Pippin and Sam over for a minor elevenses-meal. It is suppose to take place after the scourging of the shire and Frodo’s departure to Valinor. Merry has just sooted his face when adding wood to the fire while Pippin is getting ready to dig in on the food. Sam is taking a step back from the two more energetic hobbits.
  4. Hello, the dragon is back, and this is its final chance to be selected as a finalist in the BDP Series! To highlight the dragon as the set's centerpiece, I cut the tower and white wizard, significantly reducing the element count. You can support it in the Bricklink Designer Program Series 8 by voting and commenting: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-8/3051/Dragon-Attack My love for the dark creatures of fantasy movies inspired me to design a black dragon to Bricklink Designer Program Series. It is not actually based on an existing character, I studied some cool AI generated pictures and some cool dragon head builds, but I built something brand new. My intent was to create a poseable animal instead of a static statue and added a wizard to the set for more playability options. I prefer the brick built solutions to keep the flexibility of the used parts in further builds, and therefore only two stickes are used for the dragon eyes and they are based on the printed part 98138pb386 which is not available in this series. Dimensions of the dragon (as it is shown on the main picture): Width: 73.3 studs / 23.1 in / 58.6 cm Length: 67.7 studs / 21.3 in / 54.1 cm Height: 48.5 studs / 15.3 in / 38.8 cm Some rotation joints can only be stable in certain positions, for example the tail end must rest on the ground. I hope you enjoy this set. Many thanks for your support and feedback! Thank for visiting, _TLG_
  5. Here is my REVIEW for LEGO LOTR Barad-Dur. This is a NONLAN review, so ALL views are my own!! Thanks for watching!!
  6. Here is a look at our MASSIVE LEGO Lord of the Rings Middle-Earth Display!! We have been collecting LOTR since the themes original run, and have amassed a nice collection. We include the FOLLOWING locations in our Middle-Earth: Mordor, Shire, Rivendell, Weathertop, Lake-Town, Helm's Deep, Erebor and Isengard. For our Middle-Earth, we didn't worry about film or book accuracy. Instead we focused on utilizing our "given" space most efficiently. I hope you enjoy!!
  7. Here is our LOTR/ The Hobbit Erebor MOC!! I've seen some AMAZING MOC's of this over the years, but this one fits in our LOTR display perfectly. I hope you enjoy it!!
  8. In this video I move the Tower of Orthanc and make room for Barad-Dur in our massive LEGO LOTR display!! Thanks for watching!!
  9. Who else wishes Lego would make some LOTR Battle Packs?? Well I made some for myself!! Thanks for watching!!
  10. The Witch-King of Angmar™ & Fellbeast™ BrickHeadz (LOTR Product Concept) By Rui Miguel “Do not come between the Nazgul and his prey” Shortly after I finish my Fellowship collection it bother me I couldn’t produce them in physical form or bring you another of my creations. So I decided to make one more character but with 4 parameters: 1 – No new printed elements 2 – Only available colors 3 – No rare parts 4 – Under 400 pieces At first, it crossed my mind to make a Balrog but then again LEGO is already making one… So I skipped. Treebeard was on the table of ideas too but I ended up doing the Witch-King of Angmar. It’s a villain with a badass design and a very iconic look. But what close the deal for me was the piece 65473 that had the perfect shape for a neck of a Fellbeast dragon and I think I haven’t seen a MOC of these characters in BrickHeadz form. The final result, I present here 😉 Hope you like it. My goal again was to deliver a LEGO experience that could resemble the product standards of LEGO official products, from packaging, LEGO model and building experience. Beneath I share the PDF files of the building instructions for this set I made. I also added the Bricklink studio file of the model so you can upload to Bricklink and generate a wanted list of the LEGO parts needed to order. If you have the opportunity to build for yourself hope you have a fun time building, playing and displaying into your collection. A SMALL NOTE: If you consider building the Fellbeast be aware to build the stand as well, because de stand counter weighs the weight of the Fellbeast’s head, preventing it from falling forward. 😊 Download Links (Google Drive): PDF Building Instructions: Book 1 - Stand (4.2 MB) here Book 2 - Witch-king Of Angmar (5.8MB) here Book 3 - Fellbeast (7 MB) - here Bricklink Studio file (338 KB) - here Features: - 348 pcs (2 figures and 1 stand) - Removable and playable - Rotating Stand display One Brick To Rule Them All! 11. Just playing around with a few ideas for a Treebeard moc. Thinking if I can get him done I might put it on Lego Ideas as a "UCS" version. He's not really based on the movies, more my interpretation of him from the books. Except for his moustache, he's surprisingly sturdy, clips and bars hold everything in place pretty well. At the moment I'm not sure about his eyes - they're pearl gold but I think they need to be brighter... or maybe I've overdone his eyebrows. Here's a slightly earlier version... Part of me prefers them slightly simpler. Thoughts and suggestions welcome!
  12. Hi together, I miniscaled my castle Tir Asleen MOC. Hope you like it. Link to compare below the pictures. Please enjoy & thanks for watching :) Original on LEGOIdeas or Eurobricks
  13. A Demon from the ancient world... A creature of both Flame and Shadow... I hope you like it .
  14. Started this for the Lego Ideas LOTR contest from a weeks ago, but ran out of time for it then, and just came back to finish it now.
  15. Remember what Bilbo used to say: “It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.” This scene is about the departure of the Hobbits and includes: - Meeting Merry and Pippin at Farmer Maggot's Fields - The hiding from the Ringwraiths in the hollow under a tree root - Escaping the Nazgul at the Bucklebury Ferry In addition to all the trees, plants and animals, a total of fourteen minifigures (including a skeleton Easter Egg) have been used. Wherever possible, I‘ve included my own interpretation - e.g. recognizable by the hut near the river. As is the case with larger buildings, I find it difficult to capture all the attention to details in a few pictures. Nevertheless, I hope that you’re able discover at least some of it BTW: This is actually an older build (about 7 years old). Unlike some others, I didn't disassemble it. Instead it has been updated with some more modern parts, colors and techniques. Thank you for your time - and I look forward to your feedback in the comments. Yours, Tobi aka MM
  16. Now Rivendell is out, I thought it was a good time to start this thread. There is already a similar one for Star Wars, Harry Potter, DC, MCU and Pirates of the Caribbean, so one for The Lord of the Rings (as well as The Hobbit and any other Middle Earth) figures seems appropriate. If you haven't looked at any of the threads for the other themes, it's a place to share and show off any updates to improve your LOTR figures. It will be a while before I get Rivendell, so here are some I have put together in the meantime. Tom Bombadil, with his famous yellow boots. He is based on his depiction in the video games, as well as probably the best known illustration. I'm quite happy with him, although a more detailed torso and brown legs with boots would be better. There is also his appearance on the cards which features one of the crew of LOTR dressed by weta as Tom. I think Bilbo's Lake Town garb would look good for this, but unfortunately I don't thi k there are any dark blue legs with yellow boots. Next, here is one I threw together quickly, some useful figures to help you populate Rivendell. Using the 2012-14 elf hair pieces and Princess Leia's old torso, CMF Elf and Centaur, the old Snape and some other torsos from the Hobbit sets Finally, here are some of Thorin's company with medium legs. Thankfully all legs colours for the Dwarfs are available, these are the only ones I had to hand. I also gave Kili a better looking hair piece, although he could also do with an updated face. I hope to have some more soon, it would be great to see others work!
  17. "That dwelling was named Menegroth, the Thousand Caves... The pillars of Menegroth were hewn in the likeness of the beeches of Oromë, stock, bough, and leaf, and they were lit with lanterns of gold. The nightingales sang there as in the gardens of Lórien; and there were fountains of silver, and basins of marble, and floors of many-coloured stones. Carven figures of beasts and birds there ran upon the walls, or climbed upon the pillars, or peered among the branches entwined with many flowers... But Túrin and his companions passing through great perils came at last to the borders of Doriath; and there they were found by Beleg Strongbow, chief of the marchwardens of King Thingol, who led them to Menegroth. Then Thingol received Túrin, and took him even to his own fostering, in honour of Húrin the Steadfast; for Thingol’s mood was changed towards the houses of the Elf-friends." -Tolkein, The Silmarillion I have been fascinated by Menegroth for a long time. Tolkien's description (much of it quoted above) always painted a vivid image in my imagination. I actually made a "first draft" attempt at Menegroth back in 2019. But I wasn't happy with it and planned to try again for this Turin series. I'm actually still not thrilled. I've captured the essentials that I had in mind, but have by no means done it justice. To do that I'd need more trees to create almost a stone forest. And trying to hide animals in the stone walls proved particularly difficult for me. The floor was made using this technique. And you can see the first part in my Turin series here. I don't know when I'll get to part 3. Maybe before Brickworld in June, but more likely afterwards.
  18. Here is my participation in this contest: I try as much as possible to make my mocs alive thanks to the minifigs, their expressions and positions... This little contest allowed me to continue to practice. Passionate about medieval and fantastic creations, I acquired some Lotr and Hobbit minifigurines. The theme was therefore imposed on me... and I immediately thought of this scene from the film « Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers » The most challenging was to place a warg (which is almost 12 studs long), a horse and two minifigs on a 12 by 12 surface. (I finally added a third figure) I hope you like this moc and that many of you will participate!
  19. Hi! Im starting work on an Edoras MOC and am trying to build up an accurate Rohan army which is cheaper to buy than the official figs. Does anyone know of some good torsos/legs/heads/hair to use for this?
  20. Lego Halloween – Custom Minifigure Welcome, friends! My new Lego Custom Minifigure – Hallow, a Sealed Mystic from my Lego Custom Undead Universe. I would say it better suits for Lego Halloween Theme. Thanks to LEGO for such a beautiful pumpkin. I used it repeatedly in my Lego customs. Lego Halloween is certainly an interesting topic for lovers of tickling their nerves – inhabitants buried under gravestones, bats, ghosts and transparent cubes. And certainly an indispensable attribute of the holiday and traditional decoration is a pumpkin lamp. Let's say «thank you» to LEGO for such a beautiful pumpkin. I used it repeatedly in my Lego custom minifigures. The holiday is firmly associated with supernatural. Rituals, horror stories, legends about ancestors, children wearing role-playing costumes with pumpkin lamps, and certainly clubs and Halloween parties for adults)) Super Holiday! The roots of the holiday go back to the tradition of the ancient Celts of Ireland and Scotland which is interesting in itself. We need to say a separate «thank you» to Halloween for Halloween's attributes that make this Holiday so atmospheric! Have a look at my Lego Halloween Custom Minifigure. I hope you will like it! The Lego Halloween custom minifigure can be twisted from all sides on my small YouTube Channel – Here. I've already customized more than 300 lego minifigures from the Lego Dark Fantesy Direction and the skeletons of the Army of Darkness. If you like my works, feel free to subscribe to follow me! Thank you for your attention! My previous projects on Eurobricks: • Two Headed Ogre Cho'gall Warcraft • Baba Yaga from Russian Folk Tales • Soul Taker – character from cult games and pearls of modern fantasy worlds – Lego Custom Minifigure
  21. I've been wanting to build this scene ever since I got Dumbledore's Pensieve, which has been a while . The Rivendel set is really what set me going though. Building instructions are available on Rebrickable. I hope you like it!
  22. *** In the mystical realm of Thyndros, the Wizard of Light and the Wizard of Dark were once brothers, bound by blood and magic. Their harmony shattered when the Wizard of Dark, seduced by the whispers of an ancient evil, sought to harness forbidden spells to dominate the world. The Wizard of Light, devoted to preserving peace, opposed his brother's dark ambitions. This clash of ideals sparked a war that tore the land apart. The black dragon, Valkhoros, was summoned by the Wizard of Dark from the depths of the Abyss. With eyes that glowed like molten lava and wings that blotted out the sun, Valkhoros became the harbinger of doom, spreading fear and destruction in the name of his dark master. *** Hello, the dragon is back! A few improvements have been made from the previous series, such as a modified tree with a bit more of a fantasy feel and a more fitting colour scheme, and the underside of the wings have been given a red support to make the dragon a bit more interesting. You can support it in the Bricklink Designer Program Series 7 by voting and commenting: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/series-7/2514/Dragon-Attack My love for the dark creatures of fantasy movies inspired me to design a black dragon to Bricklink Designer Program Series. My intent was to create a poseable animal instead of a static statue and added a small tower and two wizards to the set for more playability options. The Wizard of Light has a staff and a crystal ball. The rear of the tower is removable to make the interior space accessible, and the door works as well. I prefer the brick built solutions to keep the flexibility of the used parts in further builds, and therefore only two stickes are used for the dragon eyes and they are based on the printed part 98138pb386 which is not available in this series.
