Hello everyone... I just wanted to share with the community what has happened to me these past few hours... 2 weeks ago I posted here a MOC of "the Winchester" - the pub that is featured in the movie Shaun of the Dead. I posted the MOC here on EB, on MOC page & my Flickr. I got some great feedbacks from the community... so far nothing unusual and after a few days things were starting to cool down... until someone decided to blog it/tweet it and it started a snow ball effect (no idea who started it all). In a matter of a few hours my Flickr got thousands of hits... and yesterday both Simon Pegg & Edgar Wright tweeted my MOC. Yes, you can read that last sentence again, it's true. Needless to say I did not sleep last night. My MOC was featured on several websites, not sure I got them all: The Collider Nerds Raging io9.com The Daily WH Awesome Robo So... what happens next? Given the enthusiasm this thing is creating on the net I have decided to submit the build on CUUSOO I'm thinking Lego could turn this into a modular house that would fit the existing line of exclusives. Now if this thing works I have no idea if Lego would be willing to go all the way and make a licensed set... I guess future will tell. I'm trying to reach out to Simon & Edgar to let them know about this, if they really dig this build I'm guessing that it would only take them another tweet to reach the necessary amount of supporters (another minecraft?). I have also reached out to Will Chapman (Brickarms) in order to keep him in the loop as it is clear to me that their customs are for a good part responsible for this success. I'm posting this story here for several reasons, first I really need to share this but secondly I would like to hear your opinions and advices. ..oh and if you feel like voting for the project on CUUSOO I'd also be grateful! Update 28/MAR/12: This (very long) thread contains all the various updates I have been sharing with the community since this whole thing started a few months ago, it's been quite a ride and as the post title says "an internet tale" that isn't over! Heyyy, well done! Great entry, but I'm not surprised - you did win the contest last year for a reason! The windows reminded me of something - after a small search I retrieved your Harry Potter MOC, hehe this type of buildings seems to be your specialty. The only thing at bothers me a little is the empty space on the corner of the second floor behind the doors - but perhaps there is something?

This is insane and I love it. I hope that you don't live in an earthquake zone...

Thank you for the feedbacks! Glad to see so many "Shaun" fans around here! The "don't stop me now - kill the queen" scene is just soooo epic it makes me laugh to tears each time!

My own 2 cents regarding this minecraft thing (nothing to do with the concept of CUUSOO in general)... I just don't get it. I have never played the game but it looks like a pretty basic blocky building game to me (I'm sure there's more to it but as far as the building part goes I assume it's a fair description given what I have seen online)... IMO, applying this recipe to LEGO is basically like downgrading the creative potential of LEGO to a bunch of wooden cubes. I think that the huge majority of supporters of this project have no clue of what you can actually do with LEGO. For all I know it could very well have happened with @ngry birds if the guys behind the game had chosen to go for it... It would only take them a tweet to reach 10000 supporters considering they have a fan base that is counted by the millions! It's just another internet bubble thing and somehow LEGO got involved and now they are trying to make the best of it.

Future will tell us where this is going but it's great that Lego took the opportunity to speak up and set things right (in particular their concerns regarding plagiarism). IMO CUUSOO is a huge opportunitiy for all Lego fans so I'm supporting the concept and I'm also forgiving any mistakes they may make as I can appreciate it's a learning process for everyone.

Welcome! Ah, the typical relapse story... been there man, damned kids and damned Lego... good luck! Oh and if by chance you have not yet discovered the Collector Minifigs try to stay away from them - trust me.

Welcome to the forum! Ha, Classic Space... how many kids grew up dreaming of these space ships and bases? Yes, licensed sets are pricey... but the figs are too cool ! The best is to wait for the discontinuation of a line and score a few sales (Toy Story is pretty cheap right now...).

Welcome to EB "sdrnet"! Maybe it's just me but posting your first message on this forum as a contest entry is a little weird... you may want to introduce yourself properly first here (as some might think you're only here to score free Lego... ) Your church is really nice, great modular features. It fits perfectly with the other buildings but I doubt LEGO would ever release a religious set.

Cool! What about digital backgrounds or picture editing (like the inclusion of the MOC name on the main picture)?

The general idea of a "turning MOC" telling a tale is really good - I may have to try that one day. Your build is very good too - great job!
