  1. Thank you for your comments! I think you misunderstood how it works, here is a link to my brickshelf (link) , you will find additional pictures to get a better understanding of the sliding panel mechanism (I hope it is allowed to post a link to additional pictures?).
  2. Dear EB members… I give you the Muggle entrance to the Ministry of Magic ! … Ok… I can already hear the comments… “how can you tell this is the real entrance to the Ministry of Magic and not just a random phone booth in a crappy place?” Well… that’s a fair enough interrogation, so I say let’s put it to the test! Let’s ask this average muggle who is passing by to dial “62442”… and we will see what happens… Holy cow… what is happening??!! It's going down! After a short ride we find our nice guinea pig muggle one level down… and a little bit shocked… especially when he sees a rather worried looking witch coming out of a fire place… Here is a picture of the overall layout... On the “street” level, when the phone booth is on the lower level the void is filled with a sliding panel mechanism. The “elevator” mechanism is activated by turning the knob you can see on the right hand side. The piece count is around 750, hope you guys like it! Here is a link to a Youtube video demo of the phone booth going down: ... and a link to my brickshelf for additional views of how the sliding panel works: Brickshelf
  3. Brilliant! I know how it feels to hear this kind of candid question... "it does not open?" But you certainly stood up to the challenge! (and now they are going to ask you "where is the smoke?")
  4. R66Y 1 point _ Very well balanced scene and nice house design Philocrites 2 points - flawless creation! NovaStar 1 point - because I like your nickname... just kidding! Seriously do you know the Belgian singer Novastar? oh and btw your scene is really nice, lots of emotions in it! Jansued 1 point - awsome truck and very original scene Best of luck to all, and I wish you all a a happy new year full of Lego creations!
  5. I can almost feel the thunder in the distance. Brilliant!
  6. With all due respect to the skill and time it took to create this I must say I agree with Legoman, I think this is way too far beyond the "normal" Lego scale (this is basically a scale that only TLC can afford). To me this is not what Lego is about.
  7. I never built anything with a brick count limit, how do you guys manage to do that? I find this rule very disturbing as I never paid any attention to how many bricks are needed to make a scene look nice... Any advice would be appreciated!
  8. There are not so many ressources on the web for this show, here is decent a picture for comparison purpose.
  9. Even though they stole most of their ideas from Star Wars... to me "Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors" is one of the best animated TV show from the 80's. The one thing that made this show so good is the vehicles... if you have never heard of this you should go check it out on youtube (either in English or in French "Jayce et les Monstroplantes") The name of this vehicle is "Armed Force", it's the vehicle of the main hero "Jayce". It can fit 2 characters, Jayce ans his little friend "Oon" who's a sort of medieval style robot (if I'm not mistaken) that carries around a supposably magical spear! The grappling arm can be lifted to open the cockpit. Close up of the figs. For Jayce I used the torso of the Lego SW encyclopedia Luke special... which is a good match as Jayce is carrying a pendant that holds a magic root. Close up of the cockpit. Side view. I'm really happy with this MOC, I think it is very close to the original. I hope you like it!
  10. Thank you for sharing Stanley! Yes, your quote is very true! One thing I like about taking the "filming" perspective in a MOC is that you can actually cheat a little and you don't have to build a complete scene, you only need to create what is visible to the camera in a way. It gives the opportunity to people with a modest Lego collection to build epic scenes with fewer bricks.
  11. We could start a new theme? Or this could also be an nice contest idea... You're absolutely right, I did not mean to mimic an actual shooting scene.. at first I only built the "Death Star" shooting part but then I thought the whole scene was a little empty and needed more life. In what concern the little debate around which film is the best, I believe we are all entitled to have our own preferences... but I don't think we can deny the fact that the first 1 had the biggest impact. Yesterday I was looking at the bonus featurettes of the first trilogy DVD boxset, it's interesting to see how Peter Jackson, Steven Spielberg, James Cameron (and more)... are all unanimous on the influence this film had on their careers. This is where it all started...
  12. Thank you all for these nice comments - never would have tought of making it frontpage too! Credits for the micro x-wing go to DrNicket MacLeod... I found his model by Googling "Micro x-wing" link to his Moc Page I just started to build randomly and it ultimately took shape, it is a fun exercise - try to build without any real plan... I had just prepared a few bricks I wanted to be included (the micros from the singer Minifig for instance) and then I tried to make it look cool as a whole. lol, now that you mention it... he is indeed nowhere near blonde (check his web site!)!! well, what can I say "sorry Peter?" - I did this MOC with what I had available! good catch on the lighsaber too...
  13. I had this idea in my head for a while now... I don't know if this has been done before. Anyway, probably not the average SW MOC but this is the image I have in my mind when I think of "A New Hope"... the image of George Lucas and his team filming small plastic spaceships hung by strings over a "Death Star"... Pretty amazing when you think of it... these guys were making history, who would have thought? A top view from the set... As you can see, not everything is Lego here...I hope the purists will forgive me! The chill room where the actors are resting between the takes. In the back we can see Harrison Ford and Peter Mayhew having a make up session... The Death Star shot... I was not trying to be accurate, just pay a tribute to one of my favourite film, hope you like it! Edit: resized pictures!
  14. Category A results are quite balanced... but Category B, wow... 120 votes against 67 for the second... impressive score for squiz! Thanks Fang for the details!
  15. Yes, that's what I meant! I'm sorry this means extra work - I thought you had it available from the contest count. Maybe the info can be just summarized in a post by entry numbers or contestants names? (no need for pictures and links to the original posts) Thanks!
  16. Congratulations to the winners! sure... a bit disappointed not to have won but glad to see my faves made it! ...and also very happy have earned a few votes - I did not expect it for my first participation! I'm not sure what is the common practice for these contests, will you publish the detailed vote results? Sure, we now know who are the best but I'm curious to see how well the others did!
  17. 12) Diver & Surfer Entry (Build by squiz) - 1 point - Love the shark effect. 3) Spaceman & Pharaoh Entry (Build by Optimus) - 1 point - I mean...come on, stop the voting, we have a winner here! 15) Zombie & Vampire Entry (Build by Athos) - 1 point - Nice scene, I d'like to have a drink there! Congratulations to all participants!
  18. 22) Vampire Entry (Build by lisqr) - 1 point (Great Buffy style.. love it!) 28) Mexican Entry (Build by Mariko) - 1 point (Very funny!) 29) Witch Entry (Build by Almirante Don Rodrigo) - 1 point (Very original!) Congratulations to all participants!
  19. Hi! Here is my entry... "A moonless night... a spooky graveyard...a pentagram on the ground, some evil incantations and a fresh corpse is all a dark witch needs to practice her black magic..." Top view of the pentagram.
  20. Hi, Please don't mind the color of my bricks.. these are 20 years old or so! Anyway, this is my entry for the contest (also my first public MOC!)... I'm not even sure what it's called in English, I believe it's a chairlift! Bottom line it's the thing you sit on to get to the top of the ski slopes... I have seen already a couple of entries for the skier but all of them are going down... Hey guys, didn't you think our friend should first get to the top of the slopes before he can actually ski!?
  21. Thank you for these kind words! Looking forward to share Lego stories with you!
  22. Hi, I have bought the set and I'm very happy with it, this is my first AT-AT and I think he looks great. I do however find that the "rear" part is a bit shaky (the part where there are the 2 pistols) - is it me? anyone else has the same problem? Also, anyone has an idea of a snow-speeder design that would match the scale of this walker? Thanks!
  23. Hello EB members, A few lines about me... I'm 33 years old slowly coming out of my dark age... my son and his Duplo's (2,5 years old) managed to pull me back into the Lego addiction after nearly 20 years of abstinence. Of all the Lego web sites I've seen, EB is definitely one of the most active around and not a day goes by without me checking it. I've seen the most amazing MOC's here and I keep being impressed by the creativity of the members. I am mostly into Star Wars and Pirates... but definitely into the Minifig Series that are - in my opinion - just the best idea Lego had in years! (okay...the board games are also a good one!) My modest creations can be seen on my MOC page: My link ...Hope you like it.
