Thanks for the suggestion. I did not have the official stretcher piece so I came up with this design - I agree it's a bit high but it can actually be folded! Once you fold the legs the table stands on the shorter legs so overall I think it's a cool and adaptable design. Cool, never thought of making that search on BL, thanks for the tip! The nurse does not bother me that much but I really wonder why they made the surgeon a female character - but I think the torso looks ok both on male and female characters.

Bingo! Yeah, it's been a while for sure! I really don't know why but this scene had a big impact on me when I was young... I kept wondering "where the hell does this knife comes from?!". I also asked myself, how did he get this on the plane? haha, good old times... Oh, and the "knife" is BrickArms.

The Wanderers by Yatkuu, on Flickr The Wanderers is a Zombie book by a Spanish author named Carlos Sisi. The book is available in English from Permuted Press. I really enjoyed this story, if you are interested to know more about it you may read the review I made on Bricks of the Dead. The above scene a takes place very early in the book.... "Dr Antonio Rodriguez (in the back) is horror struck as he witnesses the birth of the outbreak in Carlos Haya's Hospital mortuary..." A fun small build, I have always wanted to do a mortuary scene... spooky! LEGO should really give us more Zombie faces, I'm tired of always using the same ones!

Which movie? by Yatkuu, on Flickr When I saw this fig from the Dino line I knew I had to do this one... Oh, and if you don't know what this is about (either because you are too young or way too old to remember it ) .. it's a scene from this movie.

MOC: Assassination at Golden Dragon Dojo
Yatkuu replied to mordatre's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Brilliant.. since everybody has already mentionned all the good aspects of the MOC I am not going to repeat them. Instead I'll throw in an idea to make it even better, not sure it would work but do you think you could re-take the first pic with a wider angle? Basically put the camera a bit further away so that all the details on the right hand side would be included in the view? You would of course have to crop the top and bottom of the pic and you would no longer have a 16/9 ratio but I belive this would allow you to have the sparring dummy and the kendo mask in the view. -

Yatkuu replied to lego-maniac's topic in LEGO Licensed
Congrats LM! A well deserved exposure for an outstanding MOC! Personally I still prefer the first version... but your new one is very good too. -
It's big, it's mean, and Sean Bean wasn't in it

Cool, looks like you are developing a new line! Your cars remind me of the Interstate games... -
I don't mean to be harsh or start a debate but am I the only one to find this topic a little disturbing? I mean, I'm fine that some people see LEGO as a way to make profit, that's not my cup of tea but I can totally understand why somebody would want to do it. It's just that I think this discussion is pushing it a bit too far IMO - the topic title is a little misleading in that sense because the question that is being repetively asked here is "which set should I buy to maximize my return on investment". I believe there is a section for trades buy/sell.. wouldn't it be more appropriate to move the topic there?

haaaa.. here it is the mighty Arc de Triomphe... just like I said on BP - a masterpiece! People - you seriously need to check the full gallery there is a LOT to see in this (the roof is brilliant).

The firetruck "Red" from Pixar's "Cars"
Yatkuu replied to Henning Birkeland's topic in LEGO Licensed
Seriously your "Red" puts the official LEGO sets to shame... amazing job on the detailing and congrats on the frontpage! -
I’m not exactly a supporter of the MC idea but I’m glad LEGO is going ahead with this one. To be honest I don’t think they really had a choice – I know the site is still in Beta but giving a negative answer to the first project that reaches the 10k supporters would have been a very negative signal. As most of you probably know I submitted my Winchester/Shaun of the Dead build on the site. Despite the extraordinary support of the movie Director and of the Main Character (not to mention all the sites that have relayed the info – including EB) the project is “only” closing in on 1000 supporters. If anything, this shows how difficult it is to get the necessary amount of supporters. If you want your project to pass you either need to be ready for a very long campaign or your story needs to become viral just like the Minecraft thing. One number tells you all you need to know – the MC project had 800k views when they made it to the 10k supporters, this means that despite the interest people had in the game or the project only 1 out of 80 people who visited the page went ahead, registered and supported. Seriously, no matter how good your idea or your MOC is you need to be aware that this is a long road. One good thing though, as more and more people register on CUUSOO we could hope that future projects are going to be more easily supported, assuming of course they come up with a better project browsing system.

Hi guys, I'm digging up this thread because if you liked my U2 LEGO builds you will perhaps be interested in supporting my entry in the Achtung Baby collage! It's a contest organized by the band to create a fan-made cover of Achtung Baby - it would be pretty cool to have LEGO in there! I have submitted my rendition of the ZOO TV Stage, if you want to support me you may cast your vote at this address. Thanks!

An internet tale Winchester/Shaun of the Dead project on CUUSOO
Yatkuu replied to Yatkuu's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the tip! I have already sent the story to "The Sun", "The Telegraph", "The Sunday Times", "The Independent" & "The Guardian"... I know the chances are slim... but I'm sure this story could be a hit in the UK medias. If anyone knows a journalist in any of these newspapers that would really help! I'll shoot an email now to the Metro & Daily Mail. -
An internet tale Winchester/Shaun of the Dead project on CUUSOO
Yatkuu replied to Yatkuu's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Ok guys, time for an update. The CUUSOO project is doing good, after 13 days we have 793 supporters… that is awesome, thank you. The story has been relayed in a lot of different medias (please see the full list below and sorry if some of this is a duplicate from previous posts). Now I need your help to take this to the next level… so I’m reaching out to the EB community. This is what the project needs: people who would be willing to help me translate the CUUSOO project in different languages and possibly spread the word in other communities (Japan would be great) someone who could help me with the CUUSOO page layout – I’m not an expert in HTML coding and this system is a pain, I can’t seems to be able to even code the hyperlinks! anyone who has a connection with the media world and who would be willing to pass on the info to journalists, bloggers. So far the info has not really been relayed in traditional medias so this is the next target. anyone who’s comfortable with the social networks tools. Facebook, Tweeter… I’m a sucker for this and I know that this is instrumental in the success of such a project. Again, I’m not doing this for the money and I really believe a project like this one would be beneficial to the AFOL community in general. If you think this project is worth investing some of your time please contact me either via this thread or by PM. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Media coverage so far and important links (this summary can be used when communicating with the medias, it shows that this thing is serious!): Support from Edgar Wright (from tweeter and his blog) and Simon Pegg (via tweeter and from his official fan page) CUUSOO project: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/7451 Lego Blogs and forums http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=64593 http://www.brothers-brick.com/2012/01/03/lego-shaun-of-the-dead-at-the-winchester/ http://www.brickpirate.net/site/reviews-de-mocs/brick-of-the-dead-by-yatkuu/ http://www.brickarmsforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5034 Websites - English http://collider.com/shaun-of-the-dead-lego-images/134751/ http://www.nerdsraging.com/2011/12/29/shaun-of-the-dead-gets-lego-makeover/ Another post http://www.nerdsraging.com/2012/01/01/shaun-of-the-dead-lego-set-could-be-a-reality/ http://www.zedwordblog.com/2012/01/lego-shaun-of-dead-yeah-boy.html This site also posted an interview of me: http://www.zedwordblog.com/2012/01/brain-picking-yatkuu-creator-lego.html http://www.neatorama.com/2012/01/02/shaun-of-the-dead-in-lego/ http://www.flixist.com/slices-of-fried-gold-lego-shaun-of-the-dead-206202.phtml Another post http://www.flixist.com/help-make-lego-shaun-of-the-dead-a-reality--206262.phtml http://www.geeksugar.com/Shaun-Dead-LEGO-Picture-21155794 http://www.holymoly.com/film-dvd/blog/shaun-dead-lovingly-recreated-lego61017 Another post http://www.holymoly.com/film-dvd/blog/lego-shaun-dead-update-you-can-make-it-real61130 http://geektyrant.com/news/2012/1/2/shaun-of-the-dead-zombie-lego-brick-set-up.html http://dailydead.com/shaun-of-the-dead-lego-set/ http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/164803-you-wish-you-had-these-shaun-of-the-dead-lego-toys Websites - French http://www.allocine.fr/article/fichearticle_gen_carticle=18609951.html http://www.desperatezombie.com/2012/01/shaun-of-the-dead-version-lego-2/ I also have an upcoming interview with them http://www.cinemateaser.com/2011/12/37728-vous-voulez-voir-des-lego-shaun-of-the-dead http://geekxploitation.com/?p=4576 http://www.wadafok.fr/blog/archives/4780 http://www.geekofeminin.com/shaun-of-the-dead-en-lego/ other post http://www.geekofeminin.com/shaun-of-the-dead-en-lego-bientot-dans-nos-rayons/ Paper media The French magazine Cinema Teaser will make a full page on the story in their next issue (distributed in France, 40000 copies per issue) Television The Television channel “Sky” contacted me to make a topic on this in their show “35mm” -

An internet tale Winchester/Shaun of the Dead project on CUUSOO
Yatkuu replied to Yatkuu's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you all for the great feedbacks (and support) and a huge thanks to EB for frontpaging the story ! I just wanted to give a little more info on why I chose to post this on CUUSOO as I don’t want people to misunderstand my motives. I think that the “Win” on CUUSOO is a good project for the AFOL community for several reasons: this build got a huge visibility thanks to the involvement of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and more generally “the outside world”. The story has been told on websites and blogs all around the net and not just on Lego fan sites. This is in my opinion a great opportunity to improve the visibility of our hobby and beat some clichés. The AFOL world rarely meets the real world, opportunities like this one are rare. the “Win” could become a great ambassador of the best Lego can do today. The idea is to make a modular house out of this, one that would of course be compatible with the existing line. I think that the modular house line is one of the best products Lego has developed in years, it remains however an exclusive line aimed at fans. Again, this would be an opportunity to reach out to other people and let them know what is out there. The topic of the film is perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea but the zombie/shaun twist is only an additional parameter – once you look at the build without it you still have a house that could nicely complete the existing line. the build features several BrickArms accessories. I got the support of Will Chapman in the project so this is a great opportunity to improve the visibility of the custom accessories. It is also a challenge because I have no idea what would be the position of Lego regarding this but customs are important to our community, it’s only fair that they could gain some visibility both from Lego and from the general public. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think this MOC is any better than a lot of other projects featured on CUUSOO. The success of this MOC can probably be explained because the idea is original but mostly because I got very lucky! The point I’m trying to make is that for all the above reasons I think this project is a good one for the community. I also wanted to tackle “the elephant in the room” – the money question. I think we all know that Lego is giving 1% interest on the sales if a project gets produced. Well… I am not doing this for the money, if this thing pays off (and that’s a big if) I intend to invest it in the community via contest sponsorship or other means. Ever since I found out about the CUUSOO website I have been puzzled by the absence of initiative coming from the AFOL community, sure there are a few projects here and there but nothing major. Instead, there was this Minecraft thing that blew everything away… I think it’s time that the AFOL world sends a coordinated answer to Lego and I think “the Winchester” could be it. It’s too soon to tell what is going to happen with the project but I’ll keep sharing the progress here. -
An internet tale Winchester/Shaun of the Dead project on CUUSOO

Quick update... The "Win" has now been blogged all around the net, both on English/American and French sites... (you may want to try a google search on "Shaun+Lego"). Yesterday there was a post on "Allocine.fr" (yes, it is a big deal!) I was contacted by a British TV channel - Sky - they want to feature the pictures in their show "35mm" - seriously! Simon Pegg has made another tweet tonight, I quote: "Let's make Lego real! bit.ly/xfK3Pu" This is just huge... we have a hollywood superstar asking his followers to support a LEGO project!!! I'm sure this kind of story can only improve the visibility of our hobby! The CUUSOO project is now really taking off! -
I did not see that one coming... lol, this is just lame! Ok guys, admit it, it's a joke, right?

In South Africa Lego is suddenly stupidly expensive.
Yatkuu replied to Omegablue's topic in General LEGO Discussion
ouch! I'm going to start a Lego smuggling business to South Africa... hehehe -
oh my goodness this is beautiful! As an AFOL I say this is pure genius, as a participant in this competition I say I don't stand a chance against this. I guess the mods will decide but I honestly think you pushed this too far. Don't get me wrong, your model is absolutely great and belong in the Lego hall of fame but IMO it's out of the contest scope.

Hello everyone, I just wanted to update this thread with a link to this post in the general discussion forum. The Winchester has been caught into a blogging/tweeting storm that involved both Edgar Wright & Simon Pegg and I'm telling you all about it there.

Yatkuu replied to Omegablue's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I sympathize... as an AFOL I have always found that getting Lego at a fair price is always making me feel better. Fictional example (no too far from the truth): "I'm having such a crappy day, my boss is a pain, I need to work on this dam report and we're going to eat at my mother in law's... BUT I scored a Lego City #8404 at 40€ on sale so it is still a good day!" Just curious, don't you have Bricklink resellers that have better prices than the Toy Shops in ZA? And how about Amazon? - - perhaps shipping prices are too high to make it worth it? -
An internet tale Winchester/Shaun of the Dead project on CUUSOO
Yatkuu replied to Yatkuu's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's it guys, "this s*** just got real" (to quote Nicholas Angel in Hot Fuzz and in order to stay in the theme!) The Winchester just got blogged by none other than Edgar Wright himself, the Director of Shaun of the Dead. I have no idea what is going to happen with the CUUSOO project but you can check the page here. The story got also featured on the following sites (in addition to the above mentionned): World Strangest Another post on Nerds Raging and on "The Zed Word" Stay tuned... -
Awesome! I watched this with my wife and 3 years old kid and we all had good laughs thanks to you! Je n'ose pas imaginer le boulot que ça représente... mais j'en redemande!

Thank you for the feedbacks and support! It's too soon to know how this thing will turn out but I'll keep posting updates in the thread. I'm already very happy to share with you that Brickarms is supporting the project (thank you Will!) - again, I don't know what will be Lego's position regarding the use of custom accessories but IMO CUUSOO is an initiative directed at the fan community, customs are important to us and that's something they should be aware of. The next move is now to make everything I can to contact Simon/Edgar and convince them that it's a deal they cannot loose...
