  1. Thanks for the feedbacks! Nope, never played that game..; I did not need inspiration, as someone pointed out hereabove I have a sick mind! (lol, that's a joke! )
  2. argh, he did it!
  3. Thanks for the feedback! The tree is actually inspired by Derfel Cadarn as seen in his detailed guide to building a Medieval Village.
  4. After my horror-themed vignette "Timmy?" I am exploring another dark side of the Minifigs. Minifigs ain't always nice... by Yatkuu, on Flickr Minifigs ain't always nice... by Yatkuu, on Flickr Thanks to 74louloute for his precious advices on flex-figs.
  5. Pleaase don't!
  6. Wow, the Gorillaz is incredible!
  7. I must say that Lex is not the only one who did not see the Falcon coming... lol, good job!
  8. The explanation can be found in this video (starts to be cool around 3:00):
  9. wow... really cool, what a series! OK, so I have 2 requests: - Would you have a view from the back of the Police car? - Do you think you could do McQueen? The official version is definitely out of place next to yours.
  10. This is the most exciting news I have seen in a long time - gosh, that house is stunning Maybe it's wishful thinking but I'm betting on the new exclusive seasonal line around halloween - in the same spirit as the winter village line, 1 set/year. It's more flexible than the modulars and it allows for a greater variety of builds as the sets are done around a theme and not a specific format. One element in favor of the idea is that LEGO already gives a special consideration to Halloween with the small seasonal sets - just like Christmas.
  11. I have perhaps been inspired by a movie or a book but I can't really say for sure... Maybe there is smthg wrong with me but when I saw the teddy bear piece I felt like making a horror themed MOC with it! The pale coloring is intentional, to accentuate the dramatic intensity of the scene. The fig is supposed to be the father, coming to check on his kid... maybe he heard a strange noise coming from the child's bedroom, maybe he just felt smthg was wrong... You can make it what you want it to be!
  12. Good day my fellow EB members! I wanted to share with you my entry in the L13 "Pump up the volume" contest entry on the French forum BrickPirate, the cover of the album "American idiot" by Green Day. Green Day - American Idiot by Yatkuu, on Flickr The pin really gave me a headache, and I'm not too crazy with what I came up with - it's a mix of this and this. The topic of the contest is to build a LEGO version of an album cover - no photoshop allowed except to add text. If anyone is interested in the contest all the details can be found here (but you'll need to understand French and be a member of the forum before 13/FEB/12' to participate) And if you are interested in this type of MOCs there is an awesome Flickr group specialized in the topic.
  13. lol, yeah, the usual suspects! so... "who's guilty of being the most ugly Fig of all times?" ... and you hear a little voice coming from the Belleville baby side "pick me! pick me!".
  14. lol, that's a lot of chocolate! Again, I meant this to be as open as possible and I did not want to suggest one thing over another. My goal was to capture this second where your heart stops to beat because you fear for your kid - you see something, your mind starts to race but at this point anything is still possible. The kid could jump out of the closet and say "surprise!" or it could indeed turn to a much darker outcome.
  15. Thanks for the feedbacks! Interesting to hear your vision of the scene, I must say that I did not even think of a monster under the bed! I mean, it's obvious to me that little Timmy has been playing around with red paint and managed to drop some on his bed.. hum... The train isn't from me I copied the design from the Winter Toy Shop set.
  16. Warning! This MOC could be seen as very violent or shocking by some people. I think I built this as a way to exorcize the fears I can sometimes have as a father (no, my son isn't named Tim!)... I'm also interested in seeing how far we can push the envelope with Lego. So, what do you guys think?
  17. Dear god, that baby Belleville is monstruous! Unbelievable that LEGO came up with that!
  18. Oh yeah, the M110 is awesome! Great designs!
  19. Thank you SilvaShado! The project is indeed getting more and more supporters. I am about to make some big announcements on it actually... but it's not ready yet! What I can already tell you is that my good friend and fellow EB member Pixel Fox is going to help me out with the project. People here on EB might remember one of our previous collaborations - we make a pretty good team. We are currently working together on the Winchester 2.0, the new version will be completely modular and have 3 floors with detailed interior. In addition to that we will soon launch a website dedicated to the Winchester CUUSOO project where we will post new material on a regular basis. The type of info you will be able to find there will be tutorials, new builds, a comic, promotional offers with partner sites, interviews.. all sorts of cool stuff. In the meantime, I wanted to share with you an exciting news. The “Winchester” is currently featured as a full page story in the February issue of the French Magazine Cinema Teaser, here is a screenshot of the article (you may click the picture to download a pdf scan). Stay tuned!
  20. 1. Tatertots - 1 point 4. Dix - 2 point 6. Darkblane - 1 point 24. Sdrnet - 1 point Great job everyone!
  21. Thanks "Follows Closely" - this vid is pure gold! Despite all the years this guy remains the incarnation of the cool attitude. The only downside to this video is that now everyone can see that my Figs do not look like the real characters at all! even the background is all wrong actually... in my defense I'll just add that I was not really aiming for an exact representation...
  22. Well.. I had to look that one up but indeed it's spot on!
  23. The grey base is actually more realistic than the tan versions - good design!
  24. Well, I think there is something that could be done around this idea. I believe we will all agree that the CUUSOO site is not optimal when it comes down to browsing for projects, maybe it’ll improve once it’s no longer in Beta but in the meantime it’s a bit of a mess. Opening a thread on EB or any other Forum to have people indexing their projects would probably be just as bad – it would quickly become impossible to manage and nobody would go there. What we need is some kind of screening system where certain people would select a bunch of projects that they think are worth of being supported – I know this may sound harsh or unfair but there is no way every idea on the site could be promoted so there has to be some kind of selection at some point. I realize it could be a lot of work for the people responsible for it but it is IMO the only way to do this. Here are some ideas on how to implement it: Build a jury: ask for volunteers amongst the most seniors members of the boards and select perhaps a couple of lesser senior members but people who distinguished themselves in recent contests or events. 10 people would probably be a fair amount of people to get diverse opinions. Start by selecting the projects on CUUSOO that already have a certain amount of supporters (again this may sound harsh but you have got to start somewhere and nobody is going to do the work for you, you have to fight to get your project promoted in the first place) agree upon pre-defined eligibility criterias, idea / building techniques / set feasibility… discussions amongst the jury members could be done in a dedicated private forum on EB just like the reviewer academy, the projects that get picked would then be added to a locked thread that would be pinned in the forums.
  25. Liberty Island by Yatkuu, on Flickr Ok, so here is my version of Liberty Island on a 8x8 base. I came up with this design on my own... just saying because I'm guessing that a lot of people are probably working on their own version and it's very possible that someone else either came up or will come up with the same design - great minds think alike and that's just how LEGO works, in particular when the topic and scale are so obvious. If you're interested, the LDD file can be grabbed here. Thanks for watching!
