  1. As someone who doesn't care the least bit for the minifigs, would this set still be worth getting for the structure alone (at half price)?
  2. Wow, they sure went all-out with expensive new molds in abundance. Good news to most, but bad news to those of us who had hoped we'd get reasonable prices on some of the Hobbit sets. Some of those beards are great though, and a few of the torsos look real good. I do not understand why Gandalf is exactly the same as in Gandalf Arrives, he should at least have a darker and thus younger-looking beard. And I really really don't like what they've done to make one of the figs fat... apart from it looking extremely weird and making his beard only useable with that particular torso, I think it's a wrong direction to go away from the classic minifig shape. I mean, what's next, breasts on females?
  3. Go for it! I myself will, once I get it, tweak it to fit in with Kingdoms and use it as the outer wall for my MMV-based village.
  4. Fantastic review of a fantastic set. I never tire of reading about and looking at this set, it's a magnificent piece of art that almost (but only almost) makes me forgive LEGO for discontinuing Kingdoms. It has a great look with great colors and great figs that can (for the most part) be yellow-ified. It has many interesting and useful parts and for once, I LEGO actually put out a licensed set that has a fair price! I consider this set to be the best Castle set since Medieval Market Village.
  5. I disagree. LEGO can only do x number of Cuusoo sets each year, and if all of them end up being licensed sets due to voting invasions from those fanbases, it will of course mean that there'll be less unlicensed sets for people to enjoy. And just because an licensed idea initially gets more votes, it does not necessarily mean that it will get more buys in the long run. I dare say that many, MANY of those fans voting on a licensed Cuusoo idea aren't necessary going to buy the product, as they may not care about LEGO at all, but merely want to support anything that helps spread their fandom. I would really really like to see Cuusoo with a redesigned webpage with better categories and search options, and a division between licensed and unlicensed ideas.

I was considering trying a few on clearance on Amazon myself. How does they fare compared to LEGO? Are they worth getting, or would ones money be better spend on one of those fancy commemorative TFs?
  7. Fantastic work! When I first saw the overview pic, I was like "damn, that bathing guy looks just like George Lucas" - and was pleased to discover that it was indeed not a coincidence. Amazing so spot on you could got him. Apart from him, my other favorite part is the barbeque with lights. Looks great.
  8. Thanks for the explanation. I have heard about (and seen at my one and only visit to a brand LEGO store) the in-store build-a-minifig concept, but I did not know that you could get just head pieces in some stores and I did not know you would get them in any form of packaging like in the pictures... so in my confusion, I thought this was some new and strange retail product. Once again, thanks for the clarification!
  9. What on earth is this concept? Can you explain it a bit? I've never seen these things before. Is it just a bunch of hair pieces from different figures? And what were you saying about something Forestmen?

  11. Interesting find, thanks for sharing!
  12. Damn! Well, thanks for the info!
  13. Wait, what break-in?
  14. I understand where you're coming from, but it's pretty natural I'd say: they pick something that has a huuuuuge following elsewhere on online forums, on social pages, etc - and then alert these fans to the project on LEGO, after which it's fairly easy to mobilize a great deal of these people to vote for it. Not necessarily because they plan to buy it, but because they think that every bit of expansion/exposure for their beloved product is great. Nothing is wrong with that as such, and I think it's perfectly understandable. But it of course makes it harder to gain support for ideas that does not have a huge fanbase behind them right off the bat, which is the case for most "original" LEGO ideas. My suggestion to make things easier is for LEGO to divide Cuusoo into two parts: one for "licensed" ideas and one for "original" ideas.
  15. Can someone tell me why Bricklink no longer stores my login info as a cookie? I'm finding it somewhat annoying having to log on every time I go there...
  16. Thanks for the help guys, I'll try some different backgrounds.
  17. Well, this might be quite the rookie topic to most of you... but how on earth do you clear out the "real" backgrounds in mocs and replace them with clean, soothing white ones?
  18. Got myself 5 collectible minifigs from Bricklink today that I was missing from my historical collection: 2 Evil Knights 1 Evil Dwarf 1 Grandma Visitor 1 Highlander Battler Awesome! Would have hated to miss out on these like I did the Elf...
  19. Yeah I have no problem with an American Football Player; my comment was an address to you deciding to diss football/soccer with your "ACTUAL football" comment.
  20. Is this really happening? Say what? Since when has Nintendo become LEGO's direct competitor? I'm not saying that some people might not choose to buy a Nintendo product instead of LEGO. But no more than someone would choose to buy a McDonald's meal instead of some Collectible Minifigures. Or a ticket to a Hannah Montanna concert instead of the Vampyre Castle. Basically, if you stretch it like this, *anyone* and *everyone* who sells a product are competitors of LEGO...
  21. I think it's pretty much the worst LEGO set I have ever seen. But eh, to each his own. If LEGO can make money from it, then good for them.
  22. Interesting find indeed, it seems like there's a season for great Colosseum mocs. Splendidly done.
