  1. Fantastic work and pretty spot on in terms of the movie. Very impressive.
  2. Wise move, especially if you have a habbit of posting about your purchases.
  3. Well played. I'll shut up now. My apologies.
  4. I think a more interesting thread would perhaps be "What would you choose if you had to: LEGO or your girlfriend/wife?"
  5. I see this posted, and respect it. However, at the same time, I see this post afterwards: ...where he calls me "stupid" and claims that I have a "personal problem"? That's okay? I saw not one, but TWO mods view the thread AFTER that particular post. If he's allowed to slander myself, I should be allowed to defend myself... right? 1) I did not "get my knickers in a twist" because of the new theme. I merely stated that I was not a big fan of it, and even joked about it with another member earlier in the thread. Nothing big. I did, however, get upset when I felt me, and others, were unfairly insulted because of our preferences. 2) It's pretty hard to know if something is meant offensive or in good jest when it's written on an internet board without any form of smileys to accompany it, and even harder when it at first is decided to provoke further instead of explaining the "joke". 3)Personal problems? Really? Honestly, I'd have let the issue go if not for this last comment. Which, as mentioned, was ignored by TWO mods. Am I a pariah now just because I prefered the old theme? At any rate, I have nothing more to say now. Except that the theme actually captures the Friends boxes really good. It's just not for me. Also, my favorite t-shirt is purple. So there!
  6. You express your views in an elequant and reasonably manner, and I respect your opinion. However, Jargo did *not* express his own views in a similar manner, and was unreasonably insulting to - apparantly - everyone who has voiced concerns with the quality control of LEGO, and not just the people who over-exaggerated. If Jargo meant something else, he should have been more diplomatic and clear with his point. To me, he came off extremely "Apple fanboy-ish".
  7. I just don't see the need for you to resort to low, personal attacks just because some people express that they enjoy one colorscheme less than the previous colorscheme. I take offense from you suggesting that us who are not fans of this new theme only dislike it because of some caveman macho insecurity instead of just accepting that it's a valid case of differing tastes. I have no issue with "soft" and "girly" colors, I just find this particular combination and exposure to be a bit... too much, simply. And I don't like these new fleshie minidolls, I'm a minifig traditionalist. But part of the reason for my dislike is, of course, the fact that I really loved the last theme. At any rate, a lot of people seem to really like this theme so it obviously has its merits. It's just not for me, and I'd prefer not being unfairly insulted for expressing my views.
  8. In regards to new bluecoats... with the next CMF series having both a new pirate captain and a conquistador, I predict - no actually, I expect - the series after that to have a new bluecoat soldier.
  9. That's an extremely weird, unreasonable and outright ridiculous comment to make. LEGO is one of the most expensive toys out there and it is only natural to have certain expectations in regards to the quality of it. And really, what do you think LEGO themselves prefer: that people inform them about issues they have with their product, so they may improve, or that they simply stop buying their product alltogether...? If you say the latter, you clearly don't know how the world of business works.
  10. Seriously, such a highly provocative comment is both both completely unnecessary and uncalled for. Don't be a jerk.
  11. You people won the battle, but not the war...
  12. You're so evil that if Rowling ever writes a new Harry Potter book, you'l be a shoe-in for the new evil villain.
  13. I like it a lot, especially the decision to make it round. Don't see a lot of round mocs, especially not for Castle. Great job. Though for a "bat" castle, I would have expected something a lot darker...
  14. This new theme is certainly not for me either, I miss the old one already... and wish I could change it manually. Oh well, gotta suck it up. Any idea how long it'll stay?
  15. Too big? I watched the movie yesterday, and I think the size is pretty spot on.
  16. Oh man, I was loving the ghost ship even *before* I realized that it also glows in the dark. Fantastic!
  17. Very fascinating, it must have been hard to coordinate. There's a bit too many different themes stuck together for my taste - but each and every one of them are amazing on their own. And creating a huge sea monster with smaller octopusses as tentacles = brilliant!
  18. Being sick and bed-ridden, I have within 24 hours re-watched the extended editions of the LOTR trilogy... and by doing so I for the first time realized just how spot on most of these LEGO sets are. Much better than any other licensed theme I've seen. Impressive.
  19. There's nazis in Indy, yes, and if the plot of any of the Indy movies involved the genocides committed by the nazis, I'm sure LEGO would have opted out. It's all about context and use.
  20. Impressive work, looks great! However... I can certainly understand why LEGO think it's an inappropriate IP. I mean, think about it: Portal is about a murderous AI/robot that pulls cruel experiments on human subjects before killing them... and who nerve gassed an entire corporation to death. It's basically genocide and human experimentation added some slavery for flavor. And yes, I know that certain other IPs - such as Star Wars - contains elements of cruelty as well. But in those cases, they aren't represented as much as core parts of the story as in Portal. But anyway, that's just my take on it. Either way, these models look fun and good.
  21. What polybag set? Edit: Nevermind, I found it on Brickipedia.
  22. Thanks for the link, some great stuff there. Amazing display by you guys, I'm in awe.
  23. Innovatively done, nice job! What really caught my eyes though is your smallish castle, which I'm really loving. I had no idea those colors could look so good in a castle, as I think the sand green roofs used in the HP theme throws those structures off somewhat. Do you have more pictures of your layout? I'd like to see more.
  24. Theoden? Eh no.
  25. Lovely bug, I could see LEGO doing it in some sort of action theme.
