  1. So let me get this straight... you guys really do say "G'day" on a regular basis? The store is very quaint and your labels are solid as always. it really seems to follow the basic design of the Toys R Us storefront, but yet feels a bit different. Looks like it'd look great lined up beside the City Corner. Nice work as always.
  2. Brickset is reporting Series 2 at Legoland Windsor. I'm surprised they didn't do this last time, making them exclusives at Legoland locations during the summer vacation months to drive visitors there to get the figs. There's some really interesting decision-making processes evident with the marketing of the Minifigs, that's for sure.
  3. Great review... love the third person perspective. It's a bit rude though to keep calling him 'Mr. Oil Guy.' He needs a name! In my City, he'd be recognized as Larry Trotter, Octan Delivery man
  4. Eh. Nice set, but after getting the Lego truck, I'll pass. That's just too much money to spend for that tiny little storefront. Besides, anyone else have more big trailer trucks than cars?? Either way, nice review and keep 'em coming!
  5. Wow-- great review! Certainly seems like a great set and then some. Anyone have a confirmed USD$ price? I too was confused with the non-matching kid when the set was first leaked, but looking at it now I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't a conscious decision by Lego to promote adoption; They very much seem to take a forward thinking response on these socially responsible issues, and in the very same set we're seeing the solar panels being introduced as well, perhaps to not-so-subtly encourage wise energy usage in children and families. Surely they could have included black hair for the kid but did not; I don't see it as an accident or after-thought. At that rate, good for TLG.
  6. Of course-- how about a nice little chalet A-frame cabin where skiers can stand their skis outside and come in for apres-ski beside a toasty fireplace, and perhaps a sip of something warm from a barrel behind the bar??
  7. Sitting in the terrible North American heat wave, I was just thinking the other day about snow-- That said, wouldn't it be great if they released a civilian truck with a big ol' snow plow on the front, maybe a few shovels and/or 1x1 white rounds to 'plow' through. It'd look good with the new Winter sets, plus you could take the plow off for the rest of the year. I'm sure I'll end up adding on an entire 'Snow' theme to this now that my brain's wheels are turning, so stay tuned...
  8. Regarding the interchangeable building levels, great idea, and a great way to add inter-playability for the kids. But, speaking from someone who just picked up the Construction Site a few weeks ago, it IS a pretty ugly building. As far as I'm concerned, why taint other structures by fuzing them together with elements of the BIG GRAY BLAH!!!
  9. Truly badass... Dwarves and Lego: How could that NOT work?? Can't believe i passed up the Mine set because I was an exclusive StarWars buyer at the time. RRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghh...
  10. Crazy crazy crazy! Where'd that windshield come from, an Arctic set??
  11. Epic. TLG simply needs to re-introduce the forestmen subtheme. NOW!! Can you hear me, people of Billund????!!!
  12. Great use of the skater boy hair as well-- it looks like his hair is whipping around him in the wind and the surf!
  13. OUTSTANDING!!! Love the detail and SNOT, plus the color scheme is very pleasing and realistic. I haven't seen that faucet piece since the old police station I had when I was REEAAAAAAAALLY young. When's the last time they've used it??
  14. Because if the Lego Indiana Jones games taught us anything, it's that you have to toss a monkey a banana if you want him to give you a key.
  15. Great review-- love the close-up pics. Coming from someone who used to spend all his time on the pirates page, this set really converted me as a City guy. This wasn't the first city set I purchased, but once I built it, there was no turning back...
  16. The more I think of it, I'd have to agree with Klaus (I rarely don't, I suppose). So many of those figures in these sets are geared towards a circus theme, with a few more we practically have an small set of circus folk. It would certainly rain on the parade of the Collectible line by rolling out a big ol' circus set with the same clown, ringmaster and even magician. Now, they COULD give us something with a new clown, a lion tamer, perhaps a female gymnast or elephant rider or something... but it just feels like if that were to happen, we wouldn't have gotten any of those figs. BTW, for those of you that are lucky enough to have gotten an extra caveman-- switch out the head with a normal one, perhaps with some dark hair, throw a few skateboard wheel axles in his hands, and BAM! You've got yourself a great little circus strongman in an animal print get-up. Looks great standing next to the clown and magician, I must say!
  17. Hey guys, just had to share with my EB friends-- pulled the trigger last night on the TRU BoGo 50% sale-- the new airport and the construction site, and paid less than $150 USD for both of them together!! A few weeks back I revealed my plans to wait on the airport for the potential 50% sale and asked for advice on what set to go with, and it definitely paid off... So, Lightning Tiger and others, I just wanted to say thanks for helping me out. Love the construction site, and I've already built the little digger and the transport truck. Great addition to my budding new city. Sounds cheesy, but this is a great example of how EuroBricks, as a community, can be such a great asset. Thanks again!
  18. Valid criticism, in my book. If it means anything, I've never seen them in my Target or WalMart, despite the fact that the WalMart has been receiving lots of new stock like World Racers, etc. In my opinion, if either of these retail giants were to get any, they would've hit shelves long, long ago.
  19. Ah, no really, what is that skater kid doing?? Looks like you had fun throwing this together. Lego=fun.
  20. Great design... the front of that truck is incredibly well-executed. Nice job
  21. Yabba Dabba Doo!!! Looks great, Fred.. a-hehe! a-hehe! (Sorry, that's the best Barney Rubble I can do in raw text).
  22. I'd have to go with Apple Tree. I do own the Beach House but not the Apple Tree, but in terms of pure aesthetics, I think I just think it looks more realistic, more pleasing to the eye, and more surburban than the Beach House. I will say that while I cannot testify on the building experience of Apple Tree, the Beach House was a fairly substantial build with some very clever designs with the sliding glass door and eaves coming out of the roof. Great topic this is, Brickster
  23. I was browsing the American TRU site this morning, and came across something interesting. First of all, the TRU truck now has an entry ($39.99), but is listed as out of stock. Not surprising, I'm sure they've just activated the page so that when the inventory is there the .JSP files are linked and ready to do business. The interesting find came further down on the second page, where there is now a link for City Train Station for $44.99. The problem is, the picture is for the 2007 Train Station set 7997, instead of the new one with the stairs on either side of the track. They even put the green 'New' graphic on the corner of the image. See for yourself. My guess is whoever's processing the graphics for the web page was thrown for a fast one, or perhaps they keep all of the images in a database and they used the same name for the 07 version as the new one. Either way, I'd expect someone to catch it, but certainly threw me for a loop on a warm Monday morning.
  24. Agreed. Since the minifigs were launched, there's little doubt that there's some serious collectors in my area, obviously more dedicated and financially willing than myself. There's obviously some full-boxers around here as opposed to the get-the-set crowd like myself.
  25. For those of you in the US-- Brickset is reporting a 50% BOGO at TRU (In-Store only)!!! Crunch time, people-- Decisions, decisions!!! I can spend $155USD and get the Airport and the Construction Site... OR I can spend $125 and get the Airport and the Passenger Plane... They're also running 25% Off all Clearance Items... So for $52USD, you can officially buy the Farm!! (The set, not the eternal fate)
