  1. For those of you in the US-- Brickset is reporting a 50% BOGO at TRU (In-Store only)!!! Crunch time, people-- Decisions, decisions!!! I can spend $155USD and get the Airport and the Construction Site... OR I can spend $125 and get the Airport and the Passenger Plane... They're also running 25% Off all Clearance Items... So for $52USD, you can officially buy the Farm!! (The set, not the eternal fate)
  2. I haven't been into City that long, but do have the Beach House and the Family House. They do blend in really well with the rest of the sets, and I would assume they certainly add the much-needed civilian look that so many layouts have missed in the past. What's interesting about them are the alternative building methods-- it's very different from building a traditional City set, most likely because they seem to focus more on structure than playability. And they're quite time-consuming. My biggest beef with them is furnishings, really. They're almost bare inside. I actually had some blocks left over from the Pirate Block set (the one with the cool torso featured in my avatar), and used some of those pieces to build some furniture, a kitchen counter, etc. But the colors are obviously a little wild. I'd love to see them do a big time furnishings set with maybe a few figs. They could REALLY push the inventive and simple builds used in the interiors of some of the big sets to create furniture, a refrigerator, appliances, etc. Think of the simple yet effective builds of the water cooler in the Police HQ or the drill press in the garage. That's the level of detail I'd like to see them go after here, and just build all the modern conveniences we have in our homes so they could furnish one of these houses. Sure, I could just build 'em all myself, but I'm not just much of a Pick-A-Brick guy.
  3. Found a box in the most unlikeliest of places yesterday. A very small regional department store (only exists in a handful of states IIRC) had a box out, straight up $1.99 pricing. They do carry Lego, but usually don't stock a large supply and tend to let stuff sit on the shelf for indefinite periods of time. I won't name the store, because I'd like to protect my location and anonymity, but it's a small regional East Coast department store chain that typically serves as an anchor store for malls throughout the region. With that being said, I'd encourage you all to consider similar stores in your area. Dept. store chains, not national in scale, that carry Lego in some fashion but certainly not enough to compete with TRU's, Target's, or WalMart's inventory. They just might have gotten a box in.
  4. Several years ago I was in a local department store checking out their Lego inventory when I saw a bunch of discounted sets... sitting there, a little beat up, was the 7888 Tumbler set not only with a Batman fig, but the Joker to boot!! And here's the part where you all call me an idiot-- $50 set discounted to $18USD!!! Eighteen bucks!! At the time, I was a straight Star Wars guy. No way would I spend money on another line when it could mean another SW set. I know, what an idiot. The Batman fig alone would have brought me a profit if I sold now, and the entire set is going for up to $175USD on eBay (not that I'm a reseller, but still!). I can still kick myself for not grabbing that thing at the time.
  5. From one AI guy to another, very well done. With the exception of the Clone Wars guy's face, all of this stuff is top notch vector art.
  6. I really love that little street sweeper truck. Favorite part of the entire set-- wish it came solo.
  7. This is certainly more wishful thinking than prediction, but... How about a Hangar for the Airport theme? A big ol' building that houses a smaller non-commercial plane, and have a machinist's shop all set up inside for repairing the planes. Almost like a modular extension to the Airport? They could even throw in an Airport security fig or two...
  8. Hospital theme would work for me-- a big ol' building with lots of details in the $100USD range, a $50USD rescue copter, and the $20 ambulance set sound perfect. There's a lot of Police stuff still being put out new on the shelves-- seems odd that they'd be in a hurry to start a new line. Personally I'd like to see them continue with more of the civilian stuff. Zoo was referenced, that sounds great. Library too. Love the idea of a bank!! Give something for my crooks to do when they break out of prison! I wouldn't be surprised to see a new service station and convenience store. How long since the last one? How about a school? I guess they're concerned that the last things want to play with when they get home from school is, well, a school. Finally, as I said in another thread awhile back-- TLG clearly has a hit on their hands with the Winter theme. I wonder if they'd ever expand it into a full line, or just keep with the one set a year concept? It certainly keeps demand very high.
  9. I'm definitely up for a hospital and a separate ambulance set. Not so sure I can see Lego doing an ER, but that'd really be unique. The design complexity and aesthetics have increased exponentially over such a short amount of time, we may finally be in a place where they could truly do a hospital justice. Paging Dr. Bricksteen...
  10. I used to be a genuine, diehard LSW OT collector and enthusiast. If something was introduced in the line, I got it, even if I didn't really care for it (Case in point, Imperial Landing Craft, or whatever the heck that thing was called). Up until about 2009, I had every mf-scale set in the OT excluding the first Falcon, the first B-Wing, Droid Escape, Jabba's Skiff, and that small little thing we like to call the Death Star. I've never bought a single UCS or mini set, but that's just me. In fact, it was the introduction of the Holy Grail aka Death Star that actually eased me up on the line as a whole. $400 bucks is just too rich for my blood-- and where does it end? Most of the essential scenes/vehicles/figures have been released, and the newer updates are great but out of my price range. It also probably helps that I gravitated first into Pirates and now into City. I'm definitely planning on picking up the new Wampa Attack, but beyond that I'm beginning to seriously question if I've gone into LSW semi-retirement... what would get me back? Lower prices, new sets that aren't re-releases of re-releases.
  11. Fantastic! The Hall itself is especially impressive... it's so uniform and symmetrical. For what it's worth I'm very impressed!
  12. Confirmed USA purchase at Five Below last night. There they were, just short of a full box, sitting there in some dumpy little aisle not that far from the door. If TRU is concerned about pickpockets, either 5B isn't worried or just doesn't have a clue, because the morally corrupt would have no problem getting these out the door. Grabbed another cheerleader, another forestman, a second ninja, and one last cowboy (for the guns!), all at $1.99 each. I think I'm officially done with Series 1. My advice to Americans who have yet to lock down a full set is to pay close attention to this site, and when someone reports a new vendor, GO there that very day before everyone else catches on. I bet if I go back to Five Below even today, it'll probably be cleaned out. Pay close attention to the reports here and act on them quickly. Worked for me.
  13. Alright, I've been trying for days not to notice this, but enough is enough... KielDaMan, who IS that girl in your avatar??? I mean, dude!!
  14. Question about the upcoming Spartan/Roman/Greek/etc. figure in Series 2: If it's so clear that we all want mountains of these, why not produce more of this figure than any other in the series? In a typical Series 1 box it seems that there are between 3-5 of each figure, but the Spartan is clearly going to be the MVP of the next run-- Why not include 6-8 of him and cut back on some of the others? Obviously they're already packaging them and it's too late... but it seems like everyone would be happy if it was not hard to get plenty of this fig over the others. My other question, for any and all, is-- how many Spartans do you want? 5? 10? 20? 100??? I'd love six, but I'm not a straight army builder like others are. Thoughts?
  15. Five Below??? Wow-- even though I'm satisified with my Series 1, I'm tempted to go over there and pick out a few more Forestmen and Tribal Hunters, and maybe even a few more Cowboys or a Cheerleader. Am I the only one who thinks the word Collectible is one of the most dangerous terms in the English language??? As for the allure of the Surfer in Series 2, it's just that the sum of its parts is much more valuable than the fig itself. The hair is great and can be used for many characters, new great head, and the bare-chested torso is one of the single most valuable body parts in both Series 1 and 2 just for its versatility. I can easily see my pirate crew growing by 3 or 4 just by having a few going shirtless thanks to multiples of the surfer. Sure, I'll have an unwanted abundance of trunks, but you'll have that, I suppose.
  16. 8404 Bus Station €99.99 Hundred Euros for the Public Transport??? That's $130, for a few trucks and a tram that didn't meet expectations?? C'mon, TLG... you're dangerously flirting with unreasonable.
  17. Whoa... that thing is monstrous! I bet you could practically park the old imperial shuttle just in its cargo hold! And, I could be wrong, but isn't that the same windshield as the City Corner bus-- and is that entire cockpit build studs upside down??
  18. Could be wrong, but didn't we have it confirmed that TLG is producing at least 4 series, with the color of bags mimicking the colors of the anniversary minifig sets? First edition was yellow, second was blue, third I believe red, and fourth black. Si, verdad? I'm guessing they'll do at least 3 or 4 and then make a decision about how well they sold, how marketable the concept is, and how much further the series is capable of going. I'd also bet money that series 2 and 3 will run much more smoothly than this one has.
  19. Wow-- How could I forget 4-LOM and Zuckuss?? But don't panic-- I'm sure they'll be available with a 5th version of Slave 1 in 2012, haha (end sarcasm)
  20. Crazy that it's at S@H... why isn't it in retail venues like TRU or Target? Or does this mean I should just be patient and it'll show up??
  21. Insanely detailed inside there-- I'm at a loss for words at your attention to all those minute touches-- LOVE the little stove area and overhead vent! And the bookcase is fantastic! Clearly you work in Lego the way other artists work in oils and pastels. Keep up the great work!
  22. Agreed-- so many people have been dumping on the highway patrol cop, but personally I want to get a few! I definitely plan on swapping these guys out with the current motorcycle cops on the force, so to speak. Wish the police motorcycle was still being produced, in fact-- I'd probably get 2 or 3 more just for this upcoming fig. In fact, the more I look at series 2, there are less figs that I want multiples of in comparison to Series 1. Obviously the Spartan is a no-brainer as far as army-builder is concerned, but otherwise the cop is one of the few I covet in that aspect. Maybe I'd grab a few extra surfers just for the bare chest torso, or an extra adventurer to swap that head onto one of my Imperial Navy officers, but otherwise I'll be satisfied with one of each.
  23. four or five years ago this could have been a thread with tons of entries. TLG has done a good job of filling in the blanks with missing minifigs. As it stands, I think there's really only two large groups of characters that have yet to be addressed, and of course we're talking about Cantina patrons and Jabba minions. Personally, I'd love to put together my own cantina band, or get a nice-looking Max Rebo or Oola in minifig format.
  24. Welcome Cusm! Green Grocer, man-- I have the bunker, and probably wish I went with the City building at this point. Have a great time here at EB
  25. Hello Odyssey, and welcome to Eurobricks! I'm sure we'll see more of each other in the City forums! Feel free to say hallo ;)
