LEGO 8684 Minifigures Series 2 (Official Pictures)
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to GRogall's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Some of you guys get so caught up in the China thing-- you knew ahead of time that's where they were coming from, right? If you're not impressed with the quality just leave them on the shelves for the rest of us! Sheesh! -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Just checked my TRU-- no new minifigs as of Wed. afternoon. I will say that the guy on Brickset who's been breaking the news says that his store also had the Lego Truck, the Octan Truck, the Passenger Plane and the Airport. My nearest store has the two trucks (picked up the Lego Truck yesterday myself), but not the airport sets. Perhaps there's a connotation there?? If your store's got the airport, it might also have the fig boxes?? Not sure-- I work close by and plan on swinging through regularly for the next week or so -
Well, couldn't you just lose the Santa head, and you've got yourself that Hot Tub Stormtrooper you've always wanted??? I feel a bit cheated-- this is my first real year in City, so this is the first Advent calendar I'll get my hands on. BUT I do like the idea of getting not only a family, but some nice furnishings for the Family House, so this works for me

LEGO 8684 Minifigures Series 2 (Official Pictures)
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to GRogall's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Excellent, simply excellent. This whole series, this whole idea, is just oozing with FUN. I can't see this not going well into 2011 with as many as six or more waves. How could it not?? -
Some absolute winners here-- I must admit, adding to this thread is in many ways addictive! As for some more: Gender: Female Occupation: Meter Maid Torso: Cop uniform, with perhaps a bright orange vest Legs: blue Expression: Angry, perhaps with whistle in mouth Headgear: Police Cap Accessory: Clipboard, maybe even a tire anchor Gender: Male Occupation: Scout Leader Torso: Light brown shirt with scout pins banner across body Legs: Tan, maybe shorts print with skin showing below knees Expression: Cheerful, maybe whistling Headgear: Round, Flat-brimmed hat Accessory: Red bandana, Backpack, perhaps hiking staff or pick axe From the DS Game: Gender: Male Occupation: Highland Warrior Torso: simple shirt, perhaps tartan across body Legs: Elaborate kilt print Expression: Angry, blue painted face? Headgear: Long hair (think the female from the camper) Accessory: Sword and buckler And in following with both the clown, the magician, and the ringleader: Gender: Male Occupation: Lion Tamer Torso: Red with decorative trim Legs: Tan or brown Expression: Courageous Headgear: Safari cap Accessory: Whip, a chair, and (perhaps asking a bit too much) a lion! And perhaps also along the circus theme: Gender: Male Occupation: Gorilla Suit Torso: Gray or even purple Legs: Same Expression: Happy Lego smile Headgear: 'Evil' looking Gorilla mask Accessory: Bananas And maybe two more, with a twist: Gender: Male Occupation: matador Torso: Elaborate green and gold suit. Legs: Same Expression: Snooty, with mustache Headgear: Matador's hat, whatever that's called Accessory: Gold Epaulettes, perhaps a cape for his body, and of course the red cape for the bull And finally: Thought I'd add another: Gender: Female Occupation: Dancer, entertainer Torso: Sexy bustier Legs: Elaborate block dress piece Expression: Flirty Headgear: huge hat made out of fruit (y'know, like the one Bugs Bunny always wore) Accessory: Pineapple?

SO many great ideas-- love all of Athos's suggestions, as well as the idea of a PILGRIM! Thought I'd add another: Gender: Male Occupation: Frontiersman, mountain man Torso: Fringed tan with cantine, powder horn, etc. Legs: Tan or brown Headgear: Coonskin cap Accessory: musket, perhaps a tomahawk as well

My pirates, led by the notorious Bartholomew J. Brickbeard, are always at war with the British detachment, led by the dastardly Admiral Wembley and overseen by Governor Broadside himself. Each side has both allied and doublecrossed Chief Kahuka's natives, and lest we forget the second faction of pirates led by the once-infamous Roger the Red. Roger, of course, enjoys relative freedom among the islands since losing his war and ship to the Governor, but reserves his most seething hatred for Brickbeard himself. In fact, there's even rumors on the sea that one of Brickbeard's crew is actually one of Roger's men, and schemes for the day that Roger the Red will claim the Bounty for his own...

REVIEW: 8683 Minifig series 1 -, minifig #11 The Nurse
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Holodoc's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great fig-- love the new hair. Makes the older ponytail look so juvenile and girlish. Coming from someone who owns no hospital-related sets, I'd love to see them really do the sub-theme right in the next few years. Hard not to think there's a new ambulance coming soon. Thanks for the review! -
Looks good-- I always wanted a true Hoth Luke, and the collection would never be complete without the Wampa. But what pray tell am I supposed to do with FOUR SNOWSPEEDERS???? I've got a whole fleet here!
-
Great perspective... quite an interesting way of gathering up your stuff without breaking the bank. Where'd you get all those white sleek slopey sides of the A-Wings?? The only sets I remember getting them in were the A-Wings and the Y-Wing? I'm assuming they were among the pieces you had to get at BL?
-
Poses a very curious question-- in your rough estimation, how much would it cost to build, say, an A-Wing by ordering the separate parts directly from BrickLink? (I must admit, I've never gone through them before.) Begins to pose the obvious question-- when we buy a set, how much of our money is going into the printing and production of the instruction books and even the box. Take all of the bags, and the price of processing, etc... Do you think you'd actually save money buying the parts as you did, or does it even out to about the same?
-
GREAT photography-- love the closeup of the three zombies reaching for the camera! Question about the robot that you seem ideally suited to answer-- I've been a little put off by the two different arms look of the robot. Is it conceivable that you could get a second robot, take off the second's claw-holding right arm, and use it as the left arm of the first? i.e. Is the design of the claw-holding arm created in such a way that you could make yourself a robot with two claw-holding arms??

Mirandir... Perhaps everyone here is well aware of your source. I'm kinda new to City and am not-- Obviously you're not going to sell out whomever confided in you, but is this speculation on the part of your source or is this 100% confirmed?? I wasn't into City when they did the anniversary set, so I'm very interested in the idea of a great Town Square.

I've owned this set since its release and just recently sat down to put it back together during a snow storm over the winter. What followed would plague me for months, and to this day I still get a little bit annoyed just thinking about it: I'm missing one of the two small white 1x1 cones on the roof. And it drives me absolutely CRAZY.

Review - 8096 Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to OneSnowTrooper's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Actually, the review is very impressive. I'm relatively impressed with the build, and how they did push for playability on the interior. The sides of that cockpit are genius also. However, I can't lie to myself. If I bought this it'd be for one thing and one thing only, the Medical Droid. Why not wait for a possible Bacta Tank Hoth playset where we'll get the same thing? -
I think we're much more likely to see this in a future Wave of the Collectible Minifigs, but it's got to be a matter of time before Lego gives us some rock stars!! Some figs with crazy hair, some crazy torso prints, and most importantly, guitars!! Who doesn't want Lego guitars?? Bringing this back to this thread, I could definitely see an amazing 'rock concert' set with a small stage, a drum set, a four piece rock band complete with mic stands and maybe even some big blocks as speakers on either side. Throw in a few of those bars/fences like in the Pig Farm across the front and you've got yourself a show for all of your figs. Finally, Lego would officially ROCK!

I like how this thread is worded: Settle into a theme. I came out of the dark ages to do the Star Wars line, and was absolutely dedicated to every Original Trilogy set up until a year or two ago. There's just so many re-releases it's getting a bit excessive and less interesting. And expensive. At about the same time, I really got into the Pirates, and went back and dug out all of my old Pirates stuff. For a while last summer I think my hobby was hunting down Imperial Soldier impulse sets. Since the Pirates theme was discontinued, I finally set my attention on something that I haven't been interested in since about 1985... CITY. And since then, I haven't looked back. I think the only thing that'll break me from City now are Trains or maybe the rumored re-release of Batman.

I have Stingray Explorer, and it's a great little set... I always had it sort of blending into the Aquanauts subtheme, like some civilian divers blending into the 'war' between the Aquanauts and the Aquasharks. Also had some great minifig heads that were swapped out into my pirate crew and now city life. Something so cool about that white-haired man of action head that I love. It's so very Race Bannon.

"We were kinda cheated this year" - Discuss.
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Mercenary's topic in LEGO Pirates
Well, that one... yeah. Loot Island... It's pretty bad when half of the plastic in the box is one big piece: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=64649 -
"We were kinda cheated this year" - Discuss.
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Mercenary's topic in LEGO Pirates
Cheated? Not at all... Certainly the old sets will always hold a dear place in the hearts of those who were able to experience them. I had quite a few but always wanted more, and was very happy that TLG was willing to accommodate that desire with the new line. While not perfect, we had a pretty good range of sets and got some great figs out of the deal. And except for perhaps the sails and maybe some of the different colors, I think the new sets blended relatively well with the old. Now, I should also say that I support anyone' decision to criticize the new line, with one exception-- BUY THEM, THEN CRITICIZE. Don't just look at a few pics and then bash it, without ever building it yourself or holding it in your hand. And for two reasons: 1.) Because how often have we been pleasantly surprised at sets that look bad online, but turn out to be pretty great in person, and 2.) If we ever want Lego to return to the Pirates line, we have to prove above all else that it will sell. And I think they did fairly well, right? Will we ever see them again? I'd expect some. Why did the line stop so abruptly? POTC sequel perhaps... who knows. -

Yeah, my biggest fear with these guys is that I get a mountain of Crash Test Dummies. My understanding of all this barcode nonsense is not that people are afraid of getting doubles, but rather they're looking to identify these army-builder figs they want. I'm sure many of us will be happy with one or two zombies, but you know there's gonna be that one guy with the iPhone looking to track down 40 or 50. I just want the entire set, and beyond that a few extra Robin Hoods or Native Americans. If that means I get a few extra ninjas or cheerleaders, I can certainly live with that. -
Very cool stuff.... that 'bad knight' is killer. I haven't cared about Lego Castle in YEEEEEEEARS, and I suddenly entertain thoughts of becoming a dragon clan collector , hehe!! Thanks for the review

Yeah, I've been thinking about it more and more. I just broke down a bunch of city sets into a tub last night, and when you have City Corner, the Pig Farm, the Tractor, the 4WD and Horse Trailer, the Camper, and even the BBQ stand all in one tub, things get a little blurry in there. So I'm thinking about going the Ziplock route and being done with it. My only concern is that I've had some humidity issues in the basement, which I'm proud to say have been addressed, and there are more than a few plastic bags down there in storage that seem to be fine-- I'm just worried that about any potential 'sweating' inside those plastic tubs. BUT my wife has some clothes and stuff down there in similar containers and it's not like she pulls 'em out dripping with moisture either. I think my confidence is rising that this is the way to go. Thanks, desultor~
