  1. Ahhh, our prayers have finally been answered. Where to begin? 4440 FOREST POLICE STATION: Love the brick base, and the SUV is fantastic! The bear is great and the tree is well done too. We'll have to wait to see the interior to accurately judge the station itself, but it's not nearly as rustic as I was led to believe, which is good. I'd kinda prefer another car or something instead of another helicopter, but that's just me. 4439 POLICE HEAVY LIFT COPTER: Kinda clunky in the front, but the size is just right. The black and the yellow kind of throw it off of the traditional police color scheme, but oh well. Interesting that both the pilots are wearing life jackets. The only con is that ridiculous vehicle... maybe we can rip off the back axle and the safe and just make it a traditional quad. 4441 POLICE DOG VAN: I already have two dog units in the force so this is redundant, but that muscle car is perfect and makes this set a can't-miss. The beehive is a nice touch. 4436 POLICE PATROL CAR: Small, nothing special, but nice nonetheless. Is that a small bridge or just a checkpoint or something in the background? 4437 POLICE PURSUIT: Awesome truck. What little boy wouldn't want that truck??? As for the police line as a whole, I must admit I'm a little underwhelmed by the color scheme and figs. I thought Mirandir said it would feature green, which I was really excited about. I don't hold it against him at all, and appreciate whatever info he was able to pass, but I presumed that these guys would look more like forest rangers than cops, which was wrong of me. Some of the figs almost look like Texas highway patrolmen more than anything else. It appears that the figs are placeholders until new torso prints are completed, so hopefully we'll see something then. I do like the tan hat with the blue shirt and tie. Also, someone previously said they like all the new expressions, but as hard as I looked I didn't see a new face in the entire thing. In fact, the only new torso I saw at all was the light blue female in the camper set. Onto the Vehicles: 4431 AMBULANCE: Love it!! EASILY THE BEST OF THE VEHICLES, without question. Great vehicle design and a perfect compliment of minifigs! I'm assuming the full red bodies indicate that we're going to see a new torso here-- THANK GOODNESS! The little street corner is icing on the cake. 4432 GARBAGE TRUCK: The orange recycle truck has become something of a modern classic, in my opinion, and it's hard not to be impressed by this new one in comparison of the old. Very much feels like more of the same, but I do like the rounded sides. 4434 TIPPER TRUCK: Kinda meh. Lego has pretty much perfected the large truck body and grill design, and this is a slight modification. Love the wheelbarrow. 4433 DIRT BIKE TRANSPORTER: LOVE IT!!!! Awesome Range Rover design and who doesn't love more motorcycles. Would have really loved to see some new torsos but otherwise a REALLY solid set. 4435 CAR AND CARAVAN: Kinda disappointing... Looks like the camper features the same swing-open design as the surfer camper set from '09. I guess it's only fair that we hold off full criticism until we see the interior. All in all I love the concept-- smaller sets featuring little scenes hinging on one main vehicle design. Not everything has to be a huge theme centered on one major set. I hope they continue this marketing concept in the future, as it offers the potential to fill in a lot of nice, and otherwise unexplored, niches in the city. Unfortunately I missed the fire pics. Oh well. Things are REALLY starting to get exciting-- Thanks for the leaks! UPDATE: Saw the Fire Pics! Also added official names and set numbers to each listing, fwiw! 4208 FIRE TRUCK: Yes, very small! If there is justice in the world there's no way this should go over $12. Kinda short and 'chibi' comical on its own but agree with others that say it would be a fine fire truck for the airport. 4209 FIRE PLANE: Looks huge at first glance but it's really just the wings that make it deceivingly big. The little car looks a lot like a Jeep Wrangler-- wish the grill was gray and not red, but otherwise awesome. Pretty substantial tree too. Unsure how many figs it comes with-- usually they always show every fig outside of the vehicles, so this is unnerving that we only see one. 4207: FIRE ATV: Why the black body if everyone else has the orange jumpsuit? Hopefully this is just a placeholder. ATV is nothing we haven't seen before, although it looks like there's a dedicated chainsaw attached. As for the forest fire sub-theme, the orange jumpsuit and maroon helmet are really nice together, and distance themselves from the rest of the firemen quite well. It seems that if one were to skip the plane, he might as well skip the entire sub-theme. It really all hinges around the fire plane.
  2. LOOK OUT IT's A FREAKIN BEAR IN LEGO CITY!!!! YAAAAAHHHH!! Looks great-- scale is huge in comparison to the figs! Striking fear into the crooks and cops alike, I'm sure. Really interested to see what they do with the mine.... could be feast or famine, but I love that they're trying something fresh and unique. VERY EXCITING!!!
  3. Five Dwarves today... The army has doubled, and now outranks the elves, hehe. Local Target and Five Belows had plenty of Series 5. You raise the price on my minifigs, TRU and your maniacal giraffe, I'll just go elsewhere. I will WIN the minifig war.
  4. Well, my friends, it's official... I've been caught. By an Eskimo. UPDATE: I seem to have fished my hat out of the brink...
  5. Forestmen, Forestmen, Forestmen, and Forestmen. Oh yeah, and Forestmen.
  6. So when you say 'Green cobold,' I'm assuming we're looking at a Goblin of some sort. Wonder if it'll be interchangeable with fantasy-era goblin warriors, or something new?? As for the Roman warrior... this could very well cement Series6 as the best EVAH.
  7. Wonder if we'll get distinct heroes/personalities like Adventurers or even Pharaoh's Quest...?
  8. Wow... I kinda love it. Is this the same one that was re-released as part of the Legends line a few years ago? Man, I'd totally contemplate grabbing one if they re-released it again. THanks for the review...
  9. I remember the leaks from (what was his name?) saying as much... Certainly I'm looking forward to a preview. It was definitely enough for me to hold off getting this year's police copter. DYING TO SEE THE PICS!!!!!!! When will they break?
  10. Very nice, but I must say... The title of this thread is SO misleading, it borders on absolutely cruel and unusual punishment. You kinda ruined my day a little when I found out what this thread was actually about. Just sayin'.
  11. I will say this... it's a very strange feeling, like right now, once you've collected all sixteen of that series, and then there's that part of you that goes, "Okay, now what?" This is usually when the army-building kicks into high gear, and I'm well on my way with dwarves. Still considering building up a little cadre of gangsters, but who knows...
  12. Yikes-- I'd get that dog checked out. Looks serious.
  13. That layout is INSANE! Enormous-- you should rent out space at a warehouse or something sometime just to build it for pictures!! Is there specific software you employed to lay it out??
  14. Town Hall... Sounds like it'd be a great modular, and even better if it was a smaller set. Under $100 would make my day! Kingdoms Joust could be fantastic too... Hmmmmmmmmmmm, wonder what the scale on that would be.
  15. Nice as always AC-- all you need now is some pesky tourist making faces at him, preferably with the City Hawaiian shirt torso print.
  16. What I wouldn't give to see all the Undersea Explorers in my local Target replaced with this fantastic little set. I can only hope it makes its way into the larger retail stores... *sigh*
  17. No problem... this isn't a 'hey agree with me' kinda thread! It's more about 'hey what do you think?' Responses really speak to the diversity of our tastes in minifigs across the world, really.
  18. Agreed-- I know we've had plenty of race car drivers before, but the printing on that guy was exceptional.
  19. Really curious to see if we get new crooks. The AFOL in me wants a new torso, something that will allow the bad guys to blend into the general population or whatever. Kinda silly to think of all these guys sneaking around when they're wearing big bold stripes, even under the gray jacket. Now the father in me, on the other hand, understands why TLG does this. Teaching kids that the bad guys look normal, and could be anyone in the community, even the next door neighbor, is an important thing, and stranger danger is the real deal. But when that little boy's sitting in his room playing with his Lego, he shouldn't have to live in that real world climate of fear. The cops are the good guys and the crooks are the bad guys. And crooks go to prison. End of story.
  20. Hey guys... thanks for all your support! Of all the shirt designs, only the Wolfpack and the Forestmen torso tee are still open for one last day of voting. I'm not sure if they're gonna fly, but if I get one through it'll probably be much easier to promote future designs. To vote one last time, visit the shirt page here!! Thanks for all of your support! EB is obviously the greatest Lego community!
  21. I have to admit, when it comes to the S3 Pilot, I'm a little biased, if only for his parts... One of my favorite figs in the City collection is this little custom character I put together, a retired Army pilot who lives up in the cabin outside the city and flies a certain familiar yellow seaplane. He actually started as the fig that came with said plane, but now has evolved into this war vet look, featuring the pilot's bomber jacket, green pants, the lime green cap, and a white-haired smiling head from the old Divers line. So for parts alone, I'm pretty partial to the pilot just for that. I suppose it could have been a much stronger figure had they created a scarf piece that sat around the neck and draped down onto the body. The face was nice, though-- I used the extra white mustache head to add some seniority and wisdom to my police force.
  22. I'm surprised at the responses saying people had trouble feeling this series out... I might argue the opposite, as I've never had such an easy time ID'ing the individual figs through the bags before. I've gotten 14 at this point, and the only multiples I have are three dwarves, which was obviously entirely intentional. The way I look at it is this-- you need to have a little patience and a little time, hopefully have either a.)a clear view of the top of a box with all figs in clear sight, or b.) a pic of the entire series on your phone to visualize what you're feeling at any given time. My method is simple, I pick it up, and if I can't get a clear idea of what I'm holding within 10 seconds, I put it down and move onto the next one. What surprised me the most about this series is the Lizard Man-- I expected him to be the easiest, actually, when in truth the tail is much slimmer and smaller than I expected. The head is also smaller than you'd think. In terms of size, the Royal Guard's hat is HUGE, and both the Eskimo's hood and the dwarf beard/hair assembly are big enough to stand out from the rest. Fantastic series so far........ I'm certainly eager to get the four I am missing!
  23. Yeah, I realize the wording of my original post made it seem like I'm a casual fan/critic of the theme, when in truth I am a steadfast supporter of the Collectable Minifig. White Fang, if you'd be willing to change the post title to 'Least Successful Collectable Minifig,' I'd be all for that.
  24. In light of the rollout of Series 5, I've been thinking about this topic alot lately and wonder what the rest of you thought. We've all heard plenty about the best figures of the Collectable Minifig line, and although everyone has had their favorites, it's hard to argue which have been the best. The Cheerleader, The Spartan & The Elf certainly come to mind, and with my personal bias I would probably add the Hockey Player as well. But which have been THE WORST? It's hard to turn in a Grade A effort sixteen times every series, and there have certainly been some figs that fall well short of the standard they have thus far achieved. Which do you think are the duds? Personally, I'd have to go with: Series 1: The Crash Test Dummy & The Diver Series 2: The Witch or the Weightlifter Series 3: The Sumo & The Space Alien Series 4 (In my opinion the strongest overall, hard to pick any): Maybe the Surfer Girl Series 5 (also hard to decide as I'm about to head out for them now): Maybe the Zookeeper All in all, I think we're seeing much stronger efforts in terms of each series as a whole-- earlier series always felt like there were 'filler figs,' like a music album with extra tracks just to make it seem more substantial. Which have I missed? Thoughts?
  25. I have to disagree. Yes, it's another City & Police wave, but at least they're trying something different-- changing the locale, changing the figs, etc. It's not like they're not trying to do something different. Sure, we all want the hospital line, and the zoo and the schoolhouse, but obviously their marketing proves that 7-11 year old boys are into policemen and firefighters... and you can't blame a toy company for recognizing and accommodating that. Yeesh. Personally I love the fact that they've changed things up, and we get a whole different subtheme. I intend on just calling them 'park rangers.'
