  1. Agree with Amset-Rah, the new ghosts are awesome. Not enough to spend $80 on that train, mind you, but great nonetheless. Love the concept of the line, but I can definitely see kids passing over them b/c of the heroes. Proper English chaps with bowler hats and funky cars just can't compete with Superheroes, hobbits and green ninjas, if you ask me. Then again, I don't think anyone's gonna be buying these sets for the good guys... Put me down for the Werewolf and Swamp Creature sets. I was really curious about the Vampire Hearse set, but I'm pretty disappointed with the design. Love RENFIELD the driver, though!
  2. I've said it before, IRON MAN is just missing the mark for me. The head is laughably too large, and I agree with others who say they prefer the printed head on the exclusive ToyFair fig-- it just looks better to me. But for me the real issue is the figure itself. It needs more gold to hit spot on with the iconic Iron Man image-- I'd be much more impressed if they gave him gold arms and maybe a little print on the legs to break up all that red. It just looks off to me. As for the Avengers sets-- I don't know what the vehicle designs are for the movies, but just in terms of Lego vehicles, I must say I'm pretty impressed with the Quinjet and the fighter from the Hulk set. Nice color schemes, nice builds. Not sure anyone's gonna need, like, 4 Loki's, but we must remember there's more figs to be revealed. Both the Cap Cycle set and the Quinjet has hidden box art and claims to include additional figures-- and judging by what we've heard from the Hollywood crowd, the only thing Marvel has been trying to hide in the rollout are SKRULLS. If you ask me, we're gonna be getting SKRULL minifigs in these sets as well.
  3. Look at the Truck behind the minifig on the banner in THIS PICTURE. What truck is THAT???? EDIT: Apologies to CHEWK, who asked the same question above. I missed it during my first scan of the last few pages.
  4. The Big Bad Wolf dressed as Grandma... Red Riding Hood in 7, BBW in Series 8. Not that I want it to, but it's GONNA HAPPEN
  5. Just had a revelation today-- Series 7 we'll be getting Little Red Riding Hood, right? So then, it would come as no surprise if we got the WOLF in GRANDMA's CLOTHING in Series 8. There, I predicted it.
  6. All about the evil knight as well-- but it's not the boar that has me puzzled. Why does he have RED EYES???!!!
  7. I must say, I'm a little disappointed in the Roman Soldier. The shield is much smaller than I thought it looked, and most of all why is the shield maroon and yet the pteruge on the legs is bright red? Why not go for consistency? I will say, however, that the Galea helmet is SPECTACULAR.
  8. If we see another fig in Series 8 that is either Greek or Roman in nature, then I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that TLG is preparing to launch some sort of Roman or Hellenistic line in the near future. In theory it makes sense-- for example, they throw a Celt warrior into Series 6 and can gauge the reactions of kids and fanboys alike. Personally, I'd love to see them do a Centaur. If third parties like BrickArms can produce the body, then surely TLG can as well.
  9. By the time I wrap Series 6, I'll have breached 750. And it's still not enough, as if any of you needed to be told that, haha.
  10. Awesome review-- Thanks, I needed this. I've been hemming and hawing over this one for the past few days. I now know I'm going to be picking it up later today. Thanks Plissken!
  11. Yeah, been leaning that way. TRU has it marked up to $45USD, but if I grabbed a fireman ATV it'd qualify for the City $10 off, so I'd essentially get it at its original price plus a small army builder. Not bad...
  12. Okay, then, since we're on the Batman sets: 6864 Batmobile & Two-Face Chase or 6860 Batcave? OR do I throw myself on the sword of TRU markups and get the 4438 Robber's Hideout?
  13. This set is a NO-BRAINER. I'd be an idiot not to grab one of these, especially since I never did get the "Droid Escape" way way way back in the late 90's when the first rendition was released. I've seen this set in the wild, but only marked up ridiculously at TRU, so I'll hold out until the summer when it's collecting dust. Thanks for a great review!
  14. Easily have to say the ambulance. Most anticipated and the most enjoyable set from start to finish for me. Second, I'd have to say the Car & Caravan.
  15. Am I the only one who thinks the Lego Iron Man is just far too RED, and not enough gold? Why not gold arms or some printed detail, something??
  16. Really hoping to see a close-up of the Swamp monster or whatever they're calling their 'Creature from the Black Lagoon.' This line looks more promising than I initially anticipated...
  17. That's some insanely detailed mini-printing on Gimli's helm. I'm VERY impressed. I'm going to be very tempted to get into the LOTR and HOBBIT sets just for the dwarves! And their beards!!
  18. Have to be honest... I HATE Cap's eyes. But the Hulk looks pretty great. I'm sure we'll get comic versions of the Avengers next year or something, and we can all get the purple pants-wearing Hulk then...?
  19. Okay, kind of a weird question, but I was thinking the other day... what's THE smallest Lego piece ever made? I have a lot of Lego in my collection, but as far as I can recollect I can't imagine anything being smaller than the small plume piece, as pictured here: (CLICK HERE FOR THE BRICKLINK ENTRY ON THIS PART) Am I right, or is there something smaller? And, if I am indeed correct, what's the runner-up?
  20. I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for those pipes. It's not gonna happen. If the Sherlock Holmes minifig didn't warrant one, what makes you think Bilbo will?
  21. Good things come to those who wait... My local Target received a mountain of these for Black Friday, and I waited and waited for them to drop... and finally got mine for $50, PLUS I had a gift card that essentially took the overall price of the pyramid set to $35USD!! Funny thing is, they've still got tons of them just sitting around. Hard to believe such a set can't move, even at half price-- it's practically worth it just for the Anubis figs!!
  22. So the plot thickens... Just a few days ago I posted a quandary of Mill Village Raid vs. The Batcave vs. Forest Police Station. Of them all, the Police Station would be the priciest, although my only means of getting the Mill now is via TRU which has it marked up $10, but then has a sale for $10 OFF anything over $50. I could wait to see if it hits clearance status, but that's a big if. NOW, I just discovered that my local Target has the Pharaoh's Pyramid set for ONLY $50USD!! Very tempting, despite this set never really being on my radar except for the Anubis figs... although there's so many left I'm seriously wondering if enough might survive that price to drop to 70% OFF status! Can you imagine?? So, my friends, what do I do??
  23. I know I know... but I'm a City guy first-- My Dragon Knights are built up pretty well... so in terms of minifigs there's not that much for me to gain, other than the goats of course... DECISIONS, DECISIONS...
  24. I'm looking to jump at something in the $70-80 range. So... do I go with the Batcave, the Forest Police Station, or the Mill Village Raid, hopefully on clearance????
  25. I was REALLY impressed with the design, and the use of new pieces with the figures... I have yet to go modular, but this one has me sorely tempted...
