Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Strange... Sounds like an in characteristic rise in missing pieces within the SuperHeroes line. I too had a similar instance with a missing 2x4 brick in the Quinjet set this summer. Why just in the Heroes theme? -
We'll all be screaming "RELEASE THE HOUNDS!!!!!" With our new wolf faction
-
You're the one with all the inside info... YOU talk about new castle sets, lol
-
Agree with all you said except this: That shield is far from a classic, in my opinion.
-
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm finding this thread and all it's rampant speculation simply fascinating!! It's all so laden with drama and intrigue.... And it's all over a few dozen grainy pixels! I love it!

Thanks for the inside info. To be honest, the only thing about this line that I find disagreeable is the thought of TLG re-using that unappealing Lion crest. Otherwise it looks like some good ol' fashioned Lego Castle fun to me!

Lego Superheroes 2013 Rumours & Discussion
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Kind of hard to believe the Tumbler vs Bat set is proving to be so elusive; at my local TRU it's the only new SuperHeroes set to survive last week's holiday rush. What's really proving hard to find (and is the only set in the Winter wave I need) is the Daily Bugle, which I've only seen once in the wild... I guess they'll all become common enough for the rest of the year... But it's hard to be patient, isn't it???!!! -
I tried to take great care in saying HAWK and not FALCON, because I don't think this new herald relates to the Black Falcons in any way. I guess we could call 'em Eagle Knights if that is in fact what it is...?
-
Y'know, I was just looking very closely at the Kings Castle set, zoomed in super close at the shield sigil in the logo. And the more I look at it, the more I see a HAWK. The background is split down the middle, left is white and right is blue. And right there in the middle is a hawk, perched with its wings folded at rest, his head turned to the right. His chest is a goldfish/copper and he is trimmed in black. Anyone else see it? Or is it just me? I could live with that-- although the castle may still go to my Crown knights and their new Order of White Knights!!

Town Square?? Seriously? Dare we dream!!?

I can certainly agree with marketing decisions that point to a specific demographic (ie age), and gearIng a castle line to the core 10-yr old boy group is actually very smart when you consider how many parents may not allow their younger boys to watch/play with LotR. Some of it's a little dark for your kids, so a less harmful take might be the best of both worlds. What I cannot agree with is this ridiculous theory that TLG would purposely and knowingly create inferior product to not hurt other lines. "Sorry Erik, your design is just too beautiful and awesome. We were looking for something much crappier than this." Seriously? I think everything goes through focus group testing, and I'm sure the decisions made at that stage are where the AFOL market is conceded. As far as the new sets, everything's on hold until we see the new figs. But I do like the new castle.

Best/Worst designed licenced minifigure ever?
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Santaduckz's topic in LEGO Licensed
Best: Boba, Bossk, Boussh Leia, the hobbits from LoTR, and I'll go with Indy as some of the best licensed figs of all time. The Jawas are great too. Worst: Some of those early Harry Potter figs were atrocious. The man-faced Hermione or even that blue troll come to mind... -
REVIEW: 76004 Spider-Man: Spider-Cycle Chase
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Actually, forget 'SpiderBike.' just give it to your Black Widow fig, it's a perfect match. Heck, you could even leave the spider sticker on if that's your thing...- 62 replies

REVIEW: 76004 Spider-Man: Spider-Cycle Chase
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Really fun little build... I think when I saw all of the imagery I kept thinking this thing was a Jeep-type vehicle, but holding it in your hand it certainly feels like a very powerful muscle car. That can, y'know, fly. The Venom fig is probably the highlight. The tendrils are a bit wonky, but he's otherwise perfect. Having built both, I must say I enjoyed the Batboat set a little more-- but it's close. They're both great little sets, and I certainly hope TLG continues this "SuperHeroes Great Vehicles" business model for years to come!- 62 replies

So... about that Tumbler. Yeah, its less-than-mammoth size doesn't exactly strike fear into the hearts of Gotham City. -

Hey man-- I know I recently saw some of the Jet-Copters in your area... But I just can't remember where. If I see them out n about I'll let you know -
Collectable Minifigure Sightings & Availability
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to mo123567's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm curious... has there been a pattern of what series hit in what areas? I remember the year that they hit in the Pacific Northwest first (wasn't that Series 3?), and it certainly seems that in some series (6 comes to mind) they landed in Europe before the US. We certainly seemed to have gotten Series 8 first here on the East Coast in the US, so I'm anticipating that Series 9 will touch down elsewhere first. But, again, the real question is-- has there been any predictable patterns in terms of which regions land the CMF series first? -
I'd be thrilled if the re-released castle is going to be 7094 King's Castle Siege... but yeah, that certainly looks like old product art. I also see 7093 Skeleton Tower, 7092 Skeleton's Prison Carriage, and 7009 The Final Joust. This is an image from 2007's Castle Line. It also certainly seems very odd that they'd just re-use the 'CASTLE' branding from the fantasy era. This was a torturous tease...

Built the High Speed Chase last night... And the highlight was definitely the little red sports car. Although I can't really call it little-- it's WIIIIIDE!!! But. Very sleek and well designed. McCain's truck is a fun build too, but I might try to build up its underside a bit. The gray sides between the wheels just sort of hang down like a curtain-- it looks a bit strange from lower angles. Otherwise a great set!!
-
Very interesting to see it stacked with the Palace set for the first time. How did you get this so fast? Where in the world are you?
-
Yeah, I noticed that too-- that's the News Reporter's torso from the Alien Conquest Mothership set. Looks like the crossdressing guy even stole her ID badge!!
-
Just built the Cement Mixer Truck, and it certainly didn't disappoint. Very long, and there's hardly a stud left on it when you're finished. Also worth mentioning are the new layout photos at the back of the instruction booklet. First we have a nice shot of the Museum that bridges the gap between new police sets and old during another crime-riddled night in Lego City: And then we have this little shot of the blue collar life in the City: At first I got really intrigued by the little garage to the left... but the structure itself seems much to mundane to be a new release. Still, I thought it was quite odd that they have printed stickers, etc. just for a promo display: Certainly I would recommend the Mixer truck to anyone-- possibly my favorite 'Great Vehicle' next to last year's Ambulance & Tipper Truck. (PS: All apologies if the pics are too big-- I'm kinda new to that sorta thing. Mods, feel free to resize as necessary)

CMF, unquestionably. Certainly I can't be the only one who's used hands and other pieces to convert the LoTR elves into proper yellow elves, right?

Yeah... So, I caved. Cement Truck. Didn't realize the mixer on the back was just 2 ENORMOUS pieces. And to all a good night!
