After building the Comanche Camp set, I find myself itching for more... These sets, this theme is great, and the oddest thing is it really has nothing at all to do with any upcoming movie or even the Lone Ranger myths at all. I think TLG, and even more so Disney, has a perfect opportunity with this line simply because we haven't had ANY Western sets in so long, and certainly not since Lego builders upped the ante with more complex builds, custom pieces, and expanded color palettes. The Western theme was so ripe for the picking, Disney & TLG probably could have announced a licensed theme based off a Lindsay Lohan cowboy movie and it still would probably work. Yes, assembling your first Lone Ranger & Tonto minifigs is a nice, novel experience... But these sets would sell just fine without any of the "Hiiiyo Silver"'s and what not. Think of it this way-- Pitates of the Caribbean was an okay licensed theme-- but imagine if we hadn't had any pirate sets since the 90's. WE'd have all been much more excited, not because it was Capt. Jack Sparrow, but because it was LEGO PIRATES! If nothing else, let's hope the numbers make it very clear to TLG that there's a clear market for a full-blown, non-licensed Western theme.

I think clearly TLG is paying an homage of sorts to the City Corner, which seems odd considering its only a few years old...

Town Square is a very good set-- but could have been great had they not re-hashed so many previous offers all a once. Instead of another pizza shop, why not a burger joint? Another Bike Shop? How about a 2-story gym? Once again we're so close to perfection, yet so far away...

Saw the entire line at my TRU in the Northeast US tonight. Used this weeks 20% Off coupon to get the Comanche Camp set for $20, essentially removing the TRU markup. LOVE IT!!

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Across the board I find Jabba's Sail Barge to be inferior to the previous version... And yet I'm still curious about it thanks to those gorgeous figs. What the heck is wrong with me?! Why can't I get over you, Lego Star Wars? -
We'll definitely be getting at least one more speeder bike... TLG took a classic SW fig and made it 10x better when they threw the black arms and legs and new torso print on that biker scout, as seen in the upcoming Advent Calendar. He's perfect, and I expect to see him in additional sets. probably within the Village set itself but who knows?

What's your recent LEGO Star Wars Purchase?
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to KimT's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Don't know about the rest of you, but there's just something about the onset of spring that makes me wax nostalgic about Lego Star Wars. Perhaps it was this season back in 99 when I first discovered LSW and emerged from my Dark Ages. That said, I picked up the 75005 Rancor Pit and 75014 Battle of Hoth sets with a nice discount at TRU yesterday. I'm contemplating building out all of these Hoth sets to see them all together. Happy hunting everyone! -
Hey guys... Just curious, do we have concrete dates for the Coast Guard and Cargo summer releases? It's like I just woke up today and realized that May is less than a month away!
-
Weird question... Neither are 'home run' sets but this week I'm planning on picking up either 79002 Attack of the Wargs or 75014 The Battle of Hoth?? I'm an LSW OT completist, ESP. When it comes to Hoth sets (haven't missed one yet), but I'll really kick myself if I don't get those Wolf steeds for my Castle collection. Any advice from those who own either or both of those sets?

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Bring on the Ewoks... Have the Cloud City and it's a classic. I certainly don't see myself getting another big Bespin set. I love how TLG seems to be really looking at the OT for places to fill in the gaps of what has and has not yet been done. If I had to guess, I'd say we get a more substantial cantina next year... -
I'm quite smitten with the green team sets-- I've actually developed this sort of storyline in which the green units are a sort of Space Artillery to come to the aid of my Galaxy Patrol S8 figs. For the record I also grabbed the Swarm Interceptor and will probably get a second, but do not feel the same allegiance to the blue units... I guess my question is, "does anyone else find themselves collecting a single color of the line?" Or is it just me?

Thoughts on the Scorpion Pyramid (7327)
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Andy D's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Got mine on clearance for about $42 USD... but to be totally honest, the pyramid was almost an afterthought. I was really in it for the figs-- those Anubis Guards are some of the most exquisite minifigs ever produced by TLG. -
Yep, I'd suggest getting both-- I think TLG is onto something by keeping these hero sets small and affordable with one well-designed vehicle and 3 (or more) of these sought-after minifigs. It's guaranteed to appeal not only to AFOLs, but parents as well! But if I had to pick between these two, I'd def. take the Batman set. That's a really well-designed BatBoat that fits in really well with the design asthetics of the first wave of DC Heroes' Batman sets (unfortunately can't say the same about The Bat). If you think it looks good by itself, line it up beside the Batmobile in front of the BatCave set. It all just works. Plus that Aquaman fig is just perfect. Seriously, joke all you want about the character, but I think it's the best Minifig in the entire 2013 Superheroes lineup so far...

Sticker heavy, yes-- but what a great build!!! LOVE the mech, and the transport itself is incredibly solid, might love this set more than the Earth Defence Unit! Certainly recommend it.

Picked up the Vermin Vaporizer last night.... Man, that sure is one enormous DSS for a mid-sized set,,,

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hahaha-- anyone else notice the print on Grandpa? Look at how high up the torso his pants are pulled up to!! Ha! Looking closely, I have to comment on the nice little ripped denim vest torso on the biker mechanic. Perfect torso for all those shady lowlifes the massive City Police dept. is always chasing around. Also, what's with the little dog emblem on the Roman Centurion's chest? Interesting...- 1,076 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 10 Discussion
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to CM4Sci's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Epic. The sheer army-building potential of this series looms over me with an intimidating presence. 5. Warrior princess-- Originally I was sure this would become more of a singular character in my collection, but now that I've seen the print I might have to pu together a small group of 4-5. Amazonian, perhaps. 4. Baseball player-- GO STACKERS!! Love the uniform, far better than the S3 Clutchers. With only about 5 of those guys, I'm honestly tempted to do the full 9 of this fig to field an entire team. Love the glove. 3. Centurion-- the Phalanx guard was cool, but this is the definitive Roman soldier. I'm starting to worry about how many of these are in my future. 10 certainly doesn't seem out of the question. 2. Tomahawk Warrior-- Outstanding. The only way it could be better was if they made a new Mohawk mold to accommodate a feather. But this guy's something I suggested years ago in the new ideas thread and am really looking forward to. The only downside to building an army of 12-15 of these guys is that it wouldn't be all that accurate historically. Tribes really had no practice of uniform appearances-- each warrior dressed as he saw fit. And NOTE TO LIFEINPLASTIC: this guy really isn't a Wild West fig at all. He's more of a Woodland Indian, and belongs more in the Napoleanic or Colonial age, depending on where you are. 16th to 18th Century. If anything, he'd belong more with the pirate theme than any cowboy figs. 1. Revolutionary Soldier-- Quite simply, thank you, Lego. Positively a dream come true. I'm all but certain I'll break my own personal record for army building. I have about 24 redcoats and will certainly look to reach about the same mark if I can. Going to be a very expensive summer... Well played, TLG.- 1,076 replies

Found a well-stocked fresh supply of 30231 Space Insectoid poly bags at my TRU last night. And with the BOGO 50% currently running I was able to grab 2 of them for $5.25 USD. Great way to start a green Galaxy Patrol army-- you could get 8 of those Chuck Stonebreakers for $21.00!!

TLG... if that Service Station isn't part of the set, and from what I gather it is not, then did you have to place it RIGHT NEXT to your whole reveal of something big & brand new? If there's rain on the parade it's of their own doing-- seems like many of us are/were more interested in a Gas Station reboot than that of City Corner... I will say this, Lego...if not this year, GIVE US ONE NEXT YEAR!!
-
Personally, I'm all for the Gas Station being a stand-alone store exclusive. I'll probably end up with the 60026 anyway, but the gas station is what I've wanted for a good two years now... Deliver, TLG!!! Btw, thanks so much for the pics, eiker86!!
-
I own the 6373 Motorcycle Shop... This is certainly light years ahead of that.
-
Good find, Lightning... 180 Singapore converts to about $145 USD, So I unfortunately can't help but think I nailed the price point when I said $150 USD. SO STEEEP... But this looks like a must-have. Goodbye, Constitution Railroad...
-
I can only hope the gas station is a separate set from the Town Square, otherwise were looking at a $150USD price point at least. We have the lime green pizza restaurant, the small square with the statue, the ENORMOUS bike shop, the crane, the red bus, AND the gas station??! This changes the entire 2013 budget, and then some.... Looking forward to (and a little bit dreading) the official reveal!! EDIT: Upon closer inspection, you can see that the pizza shop was displayed right up against a second pizza shop facing the other way... This leads me to believe that the Bike Shop is in fact a corner building design, and the ENORMOUS structure we see is actually two of the same symmetrical builds placed side by side. So maybe not quite as pricey, but who knows...?

Still can't manage to find a good glimpse of the gray torso being used by the Coast Guard personnel figs, as they're always covered up with life jackets. I did get a close look at the orange diver torso here (http://www.figures.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=74761&title=lego&cat=3901), but still hoping for a good look on the gray. Anyone find a better angle of the Captain on the Patrol ship? Also, speaking of new torsos, I can't help but wish TLG did some proper uniforms for the Cargo fleet. I thought a sort of UPS jacket/shorts/cap combo would have been great in green. Ahh we'll, I guess their union didn't want to be charged for their own uniforms, haha

Just Got 76005 Spider-Man Daily Bugle Showdown
Mr. Elijah Timms replied to Cerebros's topic in LEGO Licensed
I felt the build was more satisfying than the design itself... But as I said in another thread, just felt like the scale was way off... It makes the figs look like giants. Still, the figs are great. Especially Doom, and the Beetle's great too.
