LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
squiz replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
See thats another thing i dont get. They are aimed at kids collecting them and trading them right ? Well surely that takes time, for a kid to get pocketmoney, get to the shop etc. I can see alot of kids only getting 1-2 minifigs a week and then aiming to trade them to complete the set. But with the run only going on for a couple of months it doesnt allow time for average jo to get them all. The demand for these figs is there but the supply really isnt. -
Forget walcott, where is darren bent ? Only rooney scored more than him in the premiership this season (heskey scored 3 ) Bent would have burried the chances heskey had last night.

Nice, cant wait for someone to do a review to see this set close up.

I havent seen them in any shops yet. I havent seen any of the kingdoms line either so im guessing that the summer line is being delayed for whatever reason. They will be out eventually though, just a shame to wait longer when loads of other countries already have them !

Great read artifex, good to hear your views and perspective. I havent been out of my dark age long either and always enjoy hearing about people experiences relating to this. The medieval market village looks amazing, though i havent been able to get one yet. Ive got the money but my local shop hasnt had any in for a while :( Hoping to pick it up soon. I feel the same towards the new kingdoms line as you. A real throwback to the castle sets i loved as a kid. Im hoping to pick all these sets up soon, but its certainly not cheap ! Out of interest where did you buy these sets in the UK ? I havent found the kingdoms line anywhere yet! Was it at a lego brand store ?

That wasn’t a laser blast. Something hit us.

This is great Everything about it is spot on, from the mini ties and falcon to the asteroids ! you can almost here the screaming from the tie fighters guns ! -
Got a load of the minifigs. Only went in for a diver and a cowboy but i found a full box on a shelf (instead of on the counter) and the shop was empty so i rooted through and got: Nurse Indian Wrestler Diver Cowboy Clown Robot Magician Ninja Spaceman Thats 15/16 for me. Havent got a crash test dummy, but im not really fussed about that one!
-
you bought two whole boxes ?!
-
Just spotted some lego in John Lewis (in Southampton) earlier, didnt realise they sold it so it was a nice surprise. More importantly they had lots of boxes of minifigs and they were displayed on the shelf with the rest of the lego, so you could root through and pick the ones you wanted without any hasle! They were £1.95 too so slightly less than tru/argos.

Sounds like it will, someone has just translated the description properly on brickset and it mentions that the bridge will raise and lower Also sounds like the green bike will be a motorbike.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion

But you cant buy these minifigs in any other set so you saying " go buy a magnet set" is a waste of time. If i want a cheerleader or zombie or what ever im not going to go and buy a construction worker from a magnet set am i. You say its the way lego "wants the game to be played" and i can see where they are coming from. It makes good business sense but just seems a bit immoral. The figures are already expensive, charging a kid 32 quid for 16 minifigs is quite steep. But with the blind packaging your forced to spend more. Im not going to do the maths, but the odds of buying 16 figures and getting a complete set are horrendous! Fair enough if the kids want to buy blind and trade, they can. But im not going to go into a playground and ask kids if they want to swap lego am i ? I would be arrested and probably put on a register..... Thats why i see the barcodes as the perfect solution. You can still buy blind if you want to, but if you want ones of a certain type, you can do that too. Anyway, lego havent put enough in production for the game to be played properly anyway. The boxes sell out so quickly and most shops only got one or two boxes so there arnt many minifigs in circulation anyway. The way i see it there are two key differences between these minifigs and other collectable games (trading cards etc) 1. These minifigures are produced in the same numbers to ensure equal distribution (i assume). With trading cards there are different distributions of cards to make certain cards rarer. Thus when you buy a cards pack you are taking a gamble that you will get a card thats rarer than other more common cards. 2. Numerous people have mentioned that you can feel whats in the packets anyway. With trading cards you wont know whats in them until you open them, but the minifigs you can make a pretty good fist of getting the one you want anyway! So if you can guess whats in the packet anyway, why remove the bar codes ? When series 2 comes out im going to rake every spartan and surfer out of all the boxes i come accross. I wont feel guilty for doing this, im spending my money on what i want. Its no different to me standing there and feeling all the packets. When series 3 comes out, i will either buy the ones i want off ebay/bricklink or even buy a whole box, pick out the 16 and then flog the rest on ebay for a small profit. -
Cant see it being as big as that !

Seems like the barcodes will be removed from the minifig packaging for series 3. http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=732 Got to say im pretty dissapointed with this. As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, its a bit of a con to not know what you are buying. -
Minifg collectors series 1 now sold out

This article suggests that lego were caught out by the high demand for these figs. Expect a higher production for series two. Also seems that the barcode identifiers wont be available on the series 3 bags. Im pretty disapointed by this, i do think its a bit of a con to sell them blind. -
think it looks alot better as a small entry, good job

Nice moc, the interior of the outpost is great ! One improvement (in my humble opinion!) would be to replace the tan on the soldiers fort with yellow so it matches the outpost and completes the classic look !
-
Hasnt happened to me, but quite a few stories on here suggests lego are happy to provide the missing pieces Shame about your MMV
-
just completed it, be interesting to see what your findings are

Haha well put ! Sounds great, cant wait to see some pictures. Wonder why its on amazon Japan first?

Hopefully picking mine up next week. Just waiting for the store to get medieval market village in as well so i can get both at the same time (and 2x vip points!) Great review as well, looking at the pictures convinced me to get it

Was reading an article about the world cup earlier and the last line mentioned a special world cup lego set that was being brought out. This is the quote: Has anyone heard anything about this ? Seeing as the world cup is only two days away lego had better get a move on to get it out in time! It was only the mirror (so might not be reliable but seems a strange thing to make up). (appologies if there is already a thread on this/wrong section. )

Havent seen any since they frst came out either. I wonder if TLG underestimated how popular these would be. -
As im from England i guess i had better support them but im not really fussed. kind of given up with the national team as they always under achieve and are full of nasty characters. im just looking forward to having 3 games of football on a day for the next few weeks !

I went for the surfer, think he is a great minifig and cant wait to pick up a few ! Im thinking of a few mocs to do with him already and will probably make him a sigfig, im into surfing (well kitesurfing but its the same area ). Closesly followed by the hoplite, will also hopefully pick up at least 5 of these ! I also think the second series is far better than the first. I guess there are just more minifigs im interested in !
